Calla's POV

James came back up five minutes later. He walked slowly back to the table with his eyes looking from side to side nervously and sweat dripping down his neck. This collar button was undone and his tie hung loosely on his neck.

"Hey...what happened?" I said as a nauseating sense of concern and worry came over me. He sat down looking distracted a bit,his eyes still wandering around like he saw a ghost.

"Oh I think some young lad was admiring my car" he said as his hands brushed through his hair. He smiled at me and held both of my hands in his. "It's nothing the security was just worried."

"Okay. Are you sure?"

"Yeah,I think he really like the car. The security took care of it,it's okay." He bite his lips but his assurance calmed my down.

Another waiters came up to our table with our food. We got served I watched him taking in his meal slowly. His jawline moved in rhythm seductively,as his tongue licks the sauce remains from the spoon. I flickered at my thoughts of our unfini

  • Wine Stained Lips   Twenty Five

Calla's POV"Home" they say, there's no place like it but it didn't feel quite right since I returned. It has been 24hours since I landed in Boston, almost like a missing puzzle piece had been snatched out. I guess I thought, after the fashion everything would go back to normal. It didn't.I came back home to still see mum attached to her oxygen tank, smell of medicine still replaced the smell of floral air freshener, anxiety still got the best of me and James...well, James was back to being a stranger. The only difference was my account balance has a couple of zeros added to it. Mum said I shouldn't worry about getting her bills paid for her remaining medications. She asked me to spend it on myself, as she surprised me with a Medicare cancer foundation suggested to foot her bills as a cancer recovering procedure.I sat in my room away from the world, hoping my sadness isn't contagious. Paris was a love affair funeral and I was the muse. James and I haven't spoken since that night he ca

  • Wine Stained Lips   Chapter Twenty Four

James' POV The smell of fresh strawberries pungently filled my nostrils. I got up from the couch that soaked up my tears from last night and the secret wishes I said in silence to stretch my body in a bid to ease the stricking pain shooting up my neck and lower back from curling myself to sleep on Grandma's embroidered couch. 'One of a kind ' she usually called it before she peacefully past away on it one night when I was seventeen.Mum has refused to sell anything from the house since she willed it to her. Even though,Grandma was dad's mum she loved mum like her own, I'm guessing she couldn't stand him like the rest of us that's why she didn't leave anything behind for him. Her house was a modern cottage in the outsketch of town, close to a little lake and it held up our family's most precious memories and most of my teenage years. It was surprisingly clean. In fact, the whole place was sparkling. It was the only stable place I had growing up.The hurt I held last night were heavy ,a

  • Wine Stained Lips   Chapter Twenty Three

Calla's POV"Calla...Cals...wake up." I felt a tap on my shoulder and a bright light penetrating though my eyelids. I slowly open my eyes to the sun shining on my face and a figure standing in front of me."My head hurts like crazy..." I whined, pulling the blanket closer and burying my body completely under it."Get up...c'mon now" Julie said " WE'VE GOT FREE TICKETS TO SEE THE TOWER REMEMBER!" She said excitedly. I groaned in discomfort, rubbing my forehead to easy blood flow."Like the Eiffle Tower?" I questioned. "Yes,the Eiffle Tower." Julie replied. I couldn't see her face as she pace back and forth around the room, packing, dropping, opening, spraying, chewing God knows what. Then it came back to me,Halt fashion staffs were giving an all expenses paid trip around Paris momentos."Mnnhhh...my head hurts ,I don't think I can." I whined louder. Before I knew what was next,Julie jumped on top of the bed. She had on her hotel robes and her hair was curled up in hair rollers. She wor

  • Wine Stained Lips   Chapter Twenty Two

James' POV The show was brilliant. Hault Fashion delivered beautiful pieces, more stakeholders began to invest on Renault Wine skyrocketing the stock market which made my father happy, which made him less irritable to everybody. Hault delivered a show that was jarring at the fingertips of blogs and magazines, while my father finally saw me fit as his heir since my plan worked.Yet, nothing felt right anymore. The void in me expanded and It left like I laid down on the tracks waiting for a train to run over me.The Deal between Calla and I was done, and so were we.I stood by the wine celler, forced to stay in the shadows as everyone else enjoys the party. It was already past 9pm and the after party was just staring. Most of the guests went back to their resistance to change while some stayed back. I've been driving around in the past hour with my sister, Vinora as we went to have diner together and I told her about what had happened. That was almost two hours ago before she dropped off a

  • Wine Stained Lips   Chapter Twenty One

Calla's POV One thing they don't tell you about love is that it is a big suffocating pile of inconvenience. It's flawed,it's awkward,it's makes you do embarrassing dumb shit,it makes you vulnerable,it shows you the dark side of us and a whole load of things you'd never thought you'd do.We don't choose the ones we love,we only choose to pursue it or ignore our feelings until we're numb. Sometimes,we pursue it till it drives us insane or leave us stranded and burnt out.Isn't it romantic how the chaos can either ruin you or strengthen you? It was this very moment I began to think of our love story was the kind that did both. James Renault was the star crossed love of my life. Ours wasn't as epic as those writing in movies and romance novels, we were place in each other's lives as inconvenience. I burned for him until I was nothing but ashes. He...well,he met me at the worst time of my life when I was an inconvenience. The deal that brought us together was cursed to rip us apart. Now,

  • Wine Stained Lips   Chapter Twenty

James' POVI walked into the living room. It smelled of medicine and tea. A mixture like that of melodic poetry sonnet from a eulogy--a fine contradiction.Mrs Grayson, looked almost petrified looking at me as I stood on the front porch."James?" she said confused."Hi,Mrs Grayson. I need to tell you something,do you mind if I come in." I asked as she immediately moved from the door to let me in."What's the problem?" she asked concerned as she slowly walked by me into the living room. She sat on the one sitter coach on the left and gestures towards the triple sitter coach beside me. I looked down on the coach where a big blanket was spread with nearly no space for me to seat,I moved the blanket just enough for me fit in on it."James,it's quiet a surprise for you to show up this early in the day.""I need to talk to you" I said fidgeting before spilling out the long held thought that have wandered my mind. "I have to tell her...""You can't tell her." She objected. Her eyes were dro

  • Wine Stained Lips   Chapter Nineteen

Calla's POVThe smell of freshly baked pastries filled the air. Hot steams from cups of chocolate, tea, coffee forming a perfect blend for the sense of homeliness I was searching for since my arrival. Perhaps, I just wanted to be held,to be felt and kept warm. Protected from the void of the feeling of James slipping through my fingertips.Paris wasn't particularly cold in this season. The sun was bright but not scogging to leave outrageous sun burns on your skin or cause you to be dripping wet, melting sweat out of the pores of your skin. No,It was simple bright and beautiful.Julie and I sat under an umbrella in the bakery down the street of our hotel. She bites into the milky doughnuts on the table as it's condensed milk fillers pours on the floor almost staining her maroon dress. I sipped on my hot espresso,as I changed the song on my phone. "Ah-ah...I hate when this happens." she exclaimed, her face dancing on a fine line between being embarrassed and disgusted. I grabbed some pape

  • Wine Stained Lips   Chapter Eighteen

James' POVI could feel a heavy weight on my head as I'm being dragged into a room at the end of the passage. My eyes deemed as I struggled to stay awake, punching the air and trying to get loose of the security guard's grip on me. I pulled away from him with force as we got closer to the room. A part of my shirt began to feel loose only for me to look down to see a hole on shirt. My ripped shirt made my screams worse as the guards grip too became tighter. I wiggled, pushed, pull, and held on to furnitures, resisting to go through the doors of the room. My ripped shirt tore the more he dragged me almost freeing me from his grip. "Get in there!" He scolded and grabbed me by my collar and pushed me into the room. The room was dark,so I couldn't make sense of where I was.I rolled over the floor and laid flat,my legs spread apart, same with my hands extending into nothing and my head facing the ceiling. I laid there for a minute, making a snow angle mentally. My ripped shirt still covered in

  • Wine Stained Lips   Chapter Seventeen

Calla's POV I haven't heard from James in days. It has been quiet--too quiet,it's almost like he had gone ghost. I had called about a hundred times but he's not picking up,I've left countless messages but still I'm left with no reply. I'm so mad that I can tear him to pieces. My half packed suitcase laid open on my bed as I stacked and unstack clothes in it. I was trying to hard to bury the raging feelings building up in my chest as I threw clothes out of my wardrobe onto my bed,the floor and literally anywhere in my bedroom,as they compile together like a thrift shop safe heaven. Finally,I had decided on clothes to take. 'Why will he do that!' my inner thought eludes out loud as I soliloquize. I stared at the mirror half way through my rant. 'woah,I look crazy.' I said, again. I wanna fight and I wanna scream at him for making feel this wayPathetic Calla. Poor desperate Calanthe. What was I thinking...I went downstairs to get a quick snack,I walked passed mum's bedroom door which
