Chapter 3 An Unexpected Return

While Olivia talked about her triumph, Harrison kept looking at him, she was so impressive and self-confident that she didn't even reflect the humble woman she was when she was married to him, and, truth be told, he wasn't sure if it hurt him.

"Harrison, you're an idiot!" How did you let go of that woman in your life? Emma reproached him as she kept looking at Olivia, surprised.

"Mom, I had no idea that she had a hidden identity, when I met her, she simply told me that she had no family, nor did she have anything, besides she always lived with us, we never met anyone, I'm just as impressed as you.

"You must tell her to come back to you, that woman is our salvation, besides, look how she is, imposing, sure of herself, and I can't imagine the amount of money she must have, just the prize they gave her is more than ten million. We will be the same again.

"What are you talking about, Mom?"

"As you have heard, my dear son, you must beg her for her love, you will not have it easy because you are an idiot, but you must make her come back to you.

"Mom!" How do you come up with it? I won't do that.

"Yes, you will, Harrison, yes you will. Emma demanded of her son, now Olivia was becoming his ticket to happiness, even if she had to be the one to beg him for his return, she would lose her pride in money.

An hour later, Olivia decided to leave the meeting, she didn't like opulent environments and her mother agreed. When they passed the Martens' side of the table again, Emma missed no opportunity to intercept her.

"You again, ma'am?" Is he going to assault me again? Olivia looked at her contemptuously

"No, honey! How do you come up with it? Emma asked softly, Olivia shook her head in the face of such hypocrisy.

"What do you want, ma'am?"

"We need to talk, you're beautiful honey, I know that in the past we had many differences, and when you were my daughter-in-law I made many mistakes, but I was an ignoramus who didn't know many things about life

"Oh yes?" Olivia snorted sarcastically. "Did you know my identity?" Such as, for example

"That has nothing to do with it!" Now that you have returned, I would like to invite you to dinner at the mansion, you can come with your mother, your return is very important to us, my son is sorry.

Olivia didn't understand her ex-mother-in-law's impudence, it was unbelievable, after so many humiliations to which she was subjected and even if they had the courage to speak to her.

"No ma'am, thank you, I'm not interested in sharing a table with you," Olivia looked up and down at her ex-husband, who was stunned by her beauty, as her mother said, he was sorry, but it was a momentary regret, one that arose when he saw her pass by, and that was complemented by the memory of the moments he lived by her side,  even though at the end of their marriage he felt that he didn't love her, he didn't stop thinking about her for a single day during the two years he was away from her, because no one took care of him like Olivia did, no one loved him as intensely as she did, and no one else was in his bad moments without fainting,  as was she.

Harrison crestfallen walked away from Olivia and his mother, he was not able to say a single word, his shame was so great, that he preferred to omit the detail of his return, while Emma could barely see how the opportunity of life was slipping away.

Olivia went out with her mother without looking back, however, the tranquility of having managed to humiliate her mother-in-law and ex-husband, was not taken away from her, she was satisfied.

A couple of weeks later, Harrison was in front of his computer, cursing to himself when he saw the figures of the company of which he was the great CEO, all his effort was going to waste, his company had no salvation and the unexpected moment finally arrived, the decline of his emporium and the complete closure of his business.

Distraught and not knowing what to do, he picked up his phone to call his mother, he was supposed to warn what was coming, but the surprise came when she interrupted without knocking in his office.

"Harrison, we need to talk." The woman was pale and full of anguish

"What happened, Mom?" Why do you have that face?

"We lost the mansion, we lost everything, we don't have any money, honey, they haven't taken it to the street, now where are we going to live?"

Harrison put his head on his desk, and everyone moved under his feet, the frustration of his failure was imminent and there was no way to save his wealth, no investor wanted to invest in his business, and the banks refused any loans.

"Mom, I'm sorry, I collapsed and we're broke, complete ruin.

"No! That can't be true." Emma flatly refused.

"I'm sorry mom, we don't have anything to do anymore, we need a very large capital investment, we're bankrupt and there's nothing that can be done. The man repeated.

"You're lying! If there's one thing we can do, your wife is salvation," the woman blurted out

"Which wife, Mom?" Harrison asked, confused

"Olivia, son, please, she can help you, win her heart back, please

"Mom I already told you no, besides I don't think she wants to see me again, I was miserable with her

"But that woman still loves you, I'm quite sure, I don't think she doesn't feel anything for you anymore, if a few years ago she would give her life for you if necessary."

"You said it yourself, that was a few years ago.

Harrison thought that his mother's ideas were far-fetched, he couldn't return to that woman's arms and much less with a feigned interest, he had to look for more options, but he had already exhausted every last one.

The following nights he thought about it too much, and maybe he could appeal to the kindness of his ex-wife, even if it cost him to lose his pride and dignity, with no other option, one sunny morning, he bathed and perfumed in a perfect way, he would talk to Olivia, he wanted to know a little more about her and see how he could help her in his anguish.
