MasukJade’s POVI walked away from the booth heading towards the back. After facing Layla earlier without blowing a gasket I decided to put my plan into effect. I didn’t get into it with anyone on my way to the office. Besides, I’d only been doing that to see if Levy would do anything about it. He never did anything but kick them out. I thought he might confess his feelings towards me if he had any. Now, I just had to outright ask him. It’s better that way. I really like to ask straight forward questions but I was trying to do what seemed to be a social norm and trick him into a confession. I made it to the office and put in the code. Levy wasn’t there. So I made my way to the secret passage leading downstairs. The passage was connected to the other office. I walked down and put in a code to push through.Levy was sitting at the computer desk.“Hey Chrys I’ll be up in a minute.” He said without looking up. I walked over to the desk to see what he’d been working on. He jum
Chrysalis’s POVI stopped Sylvie by placing a hand on her chest.“Jade can handle it.” I told her. Then I looked over at Jade saying, “Do as you see fit if she crosses a line. We got you.” Jade handed her bag to Sylvie as turned around saying, “She’s right. Besides, I don't think this one is like the rest of them. I’ll hear her out.”She walked towards the young wolf. “How can I help you Layla?” She looked behind Jade and started speaking in a small voice, “I needed your guidance on a list of duties sent out today.” she explained. “Layla. I’ve told you all to go to your immediate supervisors for support from now on.” She told her and turned to leave. The girl reached out and grabbed her arm. Just soon as she’d touched her she let go holding her hand in pain. We could tell she wanted to scream out but she held it in. It had already started to heal by the time she let it drop to her side.“I didn’t mean to offend you Jade but…”Jade turned back towards her, “That’s Ms. Trist
Chrysalis’s POVSix weeks later…I walked into Jade's office and flopped down on one of her sofas. She just kept typing without saying a word. She was used to this routine by now. She had an office on the same floor as the tech teams but they would rely on her assistance too much on the tasks she’d give them. Constantly coming into her office when they should have just been seeking approval and instruction from their supervisors. It was a distraction from running the new projects coming in. I could feel her holding back. She was one eye twitch away from literally lighting someone on fire. So we moved her on the top floor with us. We had the space and it presented a strong front on where she stood within the company. I think some of the employees were being petty. They were probably feeling some type of way since we just moved her up without posting the new position. Some of them may have felt a way on behalf of their supervisor or some probably thought they deserved it.
Chrysalis’s POVOf course she would ask about Jamey. I have no clue. So I said as much. “Really I don’t know. I would’ve said he took it well if it wasn’t for him suggesting I should reject Kayne.” I told her. “What?! He told you to reject your mate. Why would he say that? Well I could see why. But it’s your mate. Something else must have been said. You’re going to have to rewind for me.” “Well. He didn’t tell me to. He asked me why we weren’t mated. He figured I wasn’t sure since we weren't mated. I explained we didn’t live by one another so I wouldn’t have to worry about a pull.”“Hold up. Wait a minute you didn’t tell him it was Kayne?” she asked.“Of course not. I haven’t told anyone but you and Blake. Blake had to know because he’s my beta and so he wouldn’t have to wonder what was going on whenever we came around each other. I don’t want to keep things from him.” “How does Jamerson not know? You guys couldn’t have been that good at hiding it. You were in the same roo
Chrysalis’s POV I let the question linger in the air. I paused because it shouldn’t have been a surprise since Leon and Jamey were the only other Alphas there. But why would she know or even think differently? I let it go and asked my own question. “What is the deal with this Blacksun brothers stuff? It’s not like I didn’t know he was an alpha with a brother but when you guys talk about them it’s like they are world renowned. It makes me feel out of the loop.” I explained. “Honey. That’s because you are out of the loop. You hide the fact that you are the owner of your Chrystal businesses but they don’t hide being the owners of their businesses in New York. They are known by the corporate world along with any breathing living she-wolf, with eyes and enough since to pay attention to them. If you bag one of them then you’ve hit a goldmine." She finishedI growled. And she paused brushing my hair.“Sorry. It was an accident.” “You’ve got it bad already. And you guys haven’t ev
Chrysalis’s POVMy eyes got big and began to choke on the water I’d just tried to use to wash my food down.“Oops.” Mizuki said, patting me on the back.Once I was able to speak I asked her, “What the hell? What if someone heard you?”She waved her hand as if to say it was alright.“No one heard. I made sure before speaking. I casted a soundproof spell.” she said excitedly.I shook my head before drinking some more water. She waited until I was done before speaking again.“I knew you weren’t going to just give me girl time with this so instead of cornering you in your room I took the first chance I got.” She explained with a triumphant smile on her face.“Really?”She nodded vigorously. “I could tell by the stupid, long as hell text you sent me that you were trying to keep me from getting on yo ass about not telling me and also to keep from having to talk about it.”“You got all that from one text?” I asked.“Yup. Now spill.”“Nope.”“Huh?” she asked. “If you deduced those thing
Chrysalis’s POV“Chrysalis.”Someone was calling my name.“Chrysalis. It’s time to wake up.”Was I sleeping?Who’s calling me?I couldn’t see anything, I couldn’t smell anything, and I couldn’t feel my body. All my senses were offline. What is this hell I was trapped in?I remember binding Jade and
Mizuki’s POV“What the hell is taking her so long?,” I said out loud to myself. It has been at least ten minutes since Chrys dove in that kids' portal to bring her back. I’ve felt a tug on the magic umbilical a few times so I know she is okay. It’s just taking forever. I know the kid is a tec
Chrysalis’s POV Jade was on the other side of the portal by now. I took this moment to use my inhuman speed and take off towards the portal’s gateway. Right before I crossed over the threshold I threw my magic at Mizuki and she latched on. No questions asked.“I gotcha gurl,” she yelled. I la
Kayne’s POV How did I get here? I looked around the dark passage. If I wasn’t a wolf I wouldn’t be able to see a damn thing in here. I started to hear some noise down the tunnel I was walking in. It sounded like footsteps. I couldn’t tell if they were coming or going yet. I kept moving but s
