NIKOLAI

For the first time in a very long time, I didn’t wake with the sensation of my lungs caving in, a loss of will to live, a darkness choking me to the point I wasn’t certain whether or not I was drowning. I woke to a stillness. And something else. A pull, a heat curling in my gut, a raw, aching hunger that had nothing to do with survival.

For the first time in months, my focus had shifted to how stiff my morning wood was—swollen with what had to be every drop of blood in my body. I groaned. I didn’t masturbate much these days, but, boginya moya, my dick was hard and desperate for some attention.

I shifted onto my back, only to realize my arm was pinned down by something warm. Something solid. I forced my lids open, only to be met with a mess of dark hair spilling over my arm, her warmth seeping into my skin. The aroma of an addictive, haunting scent that had taken up permanent residence in my brain no matter how hard I tried to scrub it out.

My pulse kicked up—not from fear, but

NIKOLAIThis girl did not dress modestly for bed. She was in a light pink, thin, loose tank top with a deep, plunging neckline. The soft brown nipple of one breast was openly exposed, and the other may as well have been too with how thin and sheer the material covering it was.My entire body locked up and heat punched through me. She was so beautiful I could barely breathe.I didn’t mean to look, but, for fuck’s sake!I’m sure I did a terrible job hiding my gawking because she followed my gaze downward and reddened even more—her entire chest flushing scarlet. As soon as she brought her hands to her chest to adjust her top and cover herself, I compelled my eyes upward. I was clearly not being a gentleman. I forced myself not to think about how remarkably pert and flawless her breasts were—the perfect handful that would fit so nicely in my palm—while painfully aware that my cock was still throbbing, and my inner wolf was clawing at my insides with a carnal need to mount her. I’d never f

GINGERExactly one year after the big alpha wedding, I witnessed my baby twin sister tie the knot. She looked so beautiful in her simple, white A-line gown. Heidi and my mom had Facetimed me while she went dress shopping so I could be a part of it. Oh, Goddess, and here I went, getting all emotional.Tyce gave my hand a squeeze. He looked so handsome in his suit. It wasn’t often I saw him all dressed up since he mostly preferred T-shirts and sweatpants, and honestly, his job mostly required clothes that could be stripped off at a moment’s notice, which I didn’t mind at all. But this? This was nice. It fit so well on his broad shoulders, thick chest, and muscular thighs. He’d had the same seamstress in his pack tailor my bridesmaid dress that had done his suit. With how awful the dress looked when it first came in the mail compared to how it looked when she was done, she was a miracle worker! What had originally made me look frumpy and pregnant, now perfectly accentuated my womanly cur

GINGER“That’s why I’m marrying one,” I teased Tyce back. “Tyson Chicken!”“We really need to talk about that nickname.”“No, we don’t. It fits perfectly.”“Goddess, you’re infuriating.” He nibbled on my nose.“Is that why you’re practically eating my face out right now?”“When you’re moaning, you’re not talking.” He trailed kisses along my cheeks.“Sounds like you’re going to be busy keeping me moaning all the time then,” I replied, leaning into his kisses that were now moving to my neck. My insides flooded with warmth, and my nerves tingled with pleasure from his every touch as he danced sparks along my skin.“Bow chicka bow wow!” Blake loudly sang out, putting a stop to where things were headed as we immediately separated.“Cock blocker!” Tyce teased, pushing on his shoulder. “I’ll remember that next time you’re well on your way to making another heir.”“You think singing a song is enough to stop my moves from working?” Blake joked back, wrapping his arms around Jasmine. “I know he

MIRIAM*29 years ago*Long before I moved to the East Coast, met my mate, and became Luna Jasmine’s mom, I belonged to the Jade Moon Pack. My parents, Luna Catherine and Alpha Bruce, were strict, overbearing, and ruled with iron fists. At fifteen, I had only two regrets. The first was that I didn’t fully understand how sex worked. I had a vague idea—a male and a female got naked, kissed—but beyond that, things were a little… fuzzy. What exactly happened between kissing and making a baby?I liked thinking about it sometimes—okay, maybe a lot. And always with someone specific in mind.Jeremy.With his long rockstar hair, lean build, and complete disregard for school, he was the kind of boy my parents would disapprove of instantly. Add in his reputation for doing drugs, and he was practically forbidden. But none of that mattered to me. I was one hundred percent in love.I spent hours daydreaming that we were mates. Because if we were, no one—not even my parents—could keep us apart. The m

MIRIAM*29 years ago*“What happened was pretty messed up,” Lance said one afternoon, grabbing a snack while I sat at the kitchen table, doing my homework."Just promise me when you're alpha, you won't ever sleep with any of your kids' chemistry partners!" I blurted out. "I'd never be unfaithful to my mate," he replied, taking a seat across from me. "Look, I don't agree with everything Dad does." “You sure had me fooled. You're like his little puppy the way you follow him around." He wrinkled his nose in annoyance. "Do not." I snorted. “Please. When’s the last time you didn’t do exactly what he told you to?”He sighed. “It’s just easier that way. You know how Dad is.”Yeah. I knew. Our dad was brutal, and it was always safer to obey than to push back. Because the alternative was something none of us liked to think about. I’d never had it as bad as Lance, but I knew what it was like to be on the receiving end of our father’s wrath. We sat in silence for a while—him eating, me stari

THERESAIt had been almost a week since the incident. Nikolai was so stealthy that I barely caught a glance at him during all that time. I rubbed at my mark, fingertips pressing against the sensitive skin. My pulse spiked. Would Nikolai say something? Would he just casually mention it in conversation? Oh yeah, Terri’s mark—A shiver ran down my spine. He probably wouldn’t think twice. Why would he? To him, it wasn’t some dirty secret, something that made my skin crawl every time I thought about it. To him, a mark was a mark. A sign of commitment. Something mates did and didn’t hide. No one else in the world thought getting marked was a secret.“Uggghhhh,” I moaned out loud. I knew you weren’t supposed to worry about things you couldn’t control, but I was in anxiety overload. My stomach had been churning nonstop since he saw it. Every time my mom seemed slightly annoyed or frustrated with me, the hairs on my body stood up, waiting for the other shoe to drop. Every passing comment from

THERESAOne day, he said we should go to the gym together. At first, I thought that was a great idea. I was always at the gym, and I loved the idea of bonding over a shared hobby. Maybe he’d even be impressed by all the work I’d put in, and the results I’d obtained after years of hard work. But I soon learned the flaw in my thinking. After warming up, we started with bench press. He had me go first. I layered on some weights for a warmup set. Two fifty-pound weights on a forty-five-pound bar. I swiftly did eight reps and let him take his turn.He got through that just fine. I layered on more weights. On my third set, I decided to finally load the bar up to what I normally lift on an 8-rep day, which was 270 pounds. This was pretty standard, if not low, for a male warrior in my weight class, but I knew it was a lot for a female. My expectation was he would be impressed, the same way Tyce and Trav always were when I worked out with them. But I shouldn’t have been so naïve.When he went a

THERESAA couple days later, my brother Tyce finally returned home with his mate, Gigi. “Tyce!” I screamed as he walked in the door, throwing my arms around him.“Hey, Terr bear,” he replied, messing up my hair as he pulled back from the hug. I pushed his hand off my head and gave him a shove.“Welcome home, Gigi!” I exclaimed to my soon-to-be sister-in-law and pulled her in for an even bigger hug. “Thanks, Terri,” she replied, returning the hug. I didn’t know her well, but I liked Gigi so far. She was good for Tyce. Every time he’d glance her way, a smile would sneak onto his face.As I let go of Gigi, I said, “I feel like I’ve barely had a chance to get to know you. We should hang out tonight, if you’re up for it of course. I know you just got in from a long flight.”“I’d love that,” she replied with a big smile and no hesitation.“Yay! How about we head down to the local pub for dinner instead of staying in?” “Yeah, that would be great!”“You can hold down the fort with the ‘rent

NIKOLAITyce’s hands trembled at his sides. His shoulders rose and fell unevenly, like he was barely keeping himself together. For a moment again, he looked young and lost, like a boy whose world was unraveling piece by piece. But he quickly shook his head and straightened his shoulders."I’ll do my best. I promise." Tyce’s voice was raw, quieter than before. His fingers flexed at his sides before he turned away, blinking hard. I recognized the move. The sheer, bone-deep exhaustion of trying to keep it together when everything inside you was falling apart. Finally, he turned back and said, “Give me something with her scent on it. Alpha Nikolai will help too.”Sophia’s father rushed back into the house, returning seconds later with a winter hat. He handed it to Tyce, who passed it straight to me.I took a deep breath, inhaling the Sophia’s scent, locking it into memory before handing it back.I was sure Tyce felt the same as I did. Someone had reached Sophia before we could. And now, s

NIKOLAIThe silence between us stretched thick and suffocating, broken only by the rhythmic tapping of Tyce’s fingers against the wooden desk and the occasional muffled sound of a voicemail message cutting in and out.Every few minutes, he tried again. Calling. Mindlinking. His expression flickered between frustration and outright fury every time the connection failed. Each passing minute felt like an hour.Tyce was relentless. Again and again, he dialed, pressing on the chosen contact of the moment, only to be met with the same voicemail box recording. Calling and mindlinking like a maniac.I couldn’t deny I wouldn’t have done the same. I just didn’t have the same means to attempt contact. So, I determined, my job, albeit impossible, was to attempt to keep him calm.Honestly, I wasn’t doing any better. My mind screamed for action, but all I could do was sit there, forcing myself to remain still. I kept blocking out the worst-case scenarios. If I let myself think about Terri in the ha

GINGERAs I woke, I fought against a dull, aching exhaustion pressing down on me like dead weight. My eyelids felt impossibly heavy. My mouth was dry, my head pounding. Every muscle in my body throbbed with soreness, as if I’d run a marathon the day before. This has to be the worst hangover of my life.Slowly, the fog in my mind began to clear. I inhaled the scent of crisp air and wet earth. Was I outdoors? I groaned, trying to roll over. A sharp clink echoed through the silence. My eyes snapped open.Coldness nipped at my skin—no, at my fur. My stomach dropped as my sluggish brain scrambled to make sense of it.The room—was it even a room?—was cloaked in darkness, the only illumination coming from the faint glow of my red night vision. The outlines of my surroundings took shape: cold, empty space, stone walls, and metal bars blocking the only exit. The scent of damp earth and frost hung heavy in the air.I tried to move, but the harsh clink of metal stopped me short. I looked down. M

TYSONI finally understood what it meant to straddle the edge of sanity and madness.I hadn’t slept in days. The world around me felt surreal, like I was walking through a dream—or nightmare. Every time I bumped into a wall or grazed a piece of furniture, I’d catch myself wondering why I hadn’t just passed through it. I felt like a ghost, a shadow of myself. Losing Gigi was like losing my purpose. Without her, what was the point of any of this? I scrolled through our old messages, rereading the last text she sent me:Gigi: Love you, send you some snaps laterAs if the words might change. As if they could tell me where she was now.But the screen remained the same. No new messages. Just a string of my frantic ones. They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Well, here I was, proving it. I must have called and texted both Gigi and Terri a thousand times. At this point, my fingers were moving on autopilot. The result

NIKOLAIAs feared, by the next morning, Tyce still hadn’t heard from Gigi or Terri. The thick and suffocating dread was settling in. It was looking to be less and less a case of a couple of lost cell phones. While everyone else was at the morning temple service, Sasha and I met Tyce in his office, where he was seated in the same spot I’d left him the night prior.Tyce looked exactly how I felt, like hell. His eyes were bloodshot, shadowed by dark circles. His hair was even more disheveled than it had been the prior day. Overgrown stubble dusted his jawline. He appeared a ghost of his former self—an alpha taken down by his biggest weakness. He arrived in the same clothes he’d worn the prior day, now wrinkled from his clearly sleepless night. The muffled sound of a generic voicemail box rang through the air.He let out a heavy breath and rubbed his temples before running a hand through his hair. “Flight conditions are still a no-go,” Tyce muttered in a voice that was rough with exhausti

NIKOLAITyce leaned back in his chair, dragging his hands back and forth through his dark hair. The movement left pieces of it sticking up in all different directions.“I just wish…” He trailed off, exhaling sharply. “I just wish I’d marked her.” His voice cracked. “I wanted to. But she was adamant about waiting until marriage. She didn’t want to look bad in front of our parents.” He let out a bitter laugh, shaking his head. “That shit’s so outdated. It’s not like they don’t already know what we’re up to.”His shoulders sagged as he let out a heavy sigh. The weight of his regret was palpable. “If she were marked,” he rasped in a raw voice, “I’d at least know where she is. I could feel her. I’d know she was safe. But…” His voice faltered, splintering into something dark and helpless.Crack! With a strangled roar, he slammed his fists against the desk. The violent sound shot through the room.I flinched. Not at the outburst, but at the raw emotions and vulnerability it exposed. I knew e

NIKOLAI“I don’t understand! Where the fuck is she?” Tyce’s booming voice echoed down the hallway as I stepped through the front door on Sunday evening, sweat still cooling on my skin after hours spent pushing my body to exhaustion. I walked further into the packhouse and his voice became louder as I proceeded. “We need to get that plane out tonight. I need to go to Anchorage immediately.”I followed the sound of his shouting, rounding the corner, to find a red-faced Tyce with bulging eyes in the common area, fists clenching and unclenching at his sides.Across from him, Beta Liam stood firm, arms crossed, with a calm but unreadable face.“Tyce, it’s not possible,” Liam said with a measured tone, a stark contrast to the storm raging inside the alpha.Tyce’s chest heaved. His nostrils flared. “I don’t care if we crash the fucking plane,” he snarled. “I have to get to her. Do you understand? She’s out there, and we’re just standing here, doing nothing!”Liam’s jaw tightened, but his voi

GINGERShe walked off, joining the line for the bathroom down the hall. I was about to take a seat when Grace appeared beside me.“Hey, can I get you something else to drink?” she asked.“Oh no, I’m good. This is probably my last one,” I replied.“How’s your friend?”“She’s fine. She just went to the bathroom.”“You’re not leaving, are you? We just got here!”“No, no, she wants to stay,” I assured her. “I can introduce you when she gets back.”A man approached us and stood next to Grace. I struggled to remember his name. Bill? Brian? Ben? Something with a B.“Hey, do you wanna?” he asked, tapping his right nostril meaningfully.“Gigi, have you tried it before?” Grace placed her hand on my arm in a friendly gesture.I shook my head.“Oh, you have to. It’s amazing—it makes you feel so good, like you don’t have a care in the world. You’ve gotta try it!”The idea was tempting. I’d missed out on trying coke at my bachelorette party, which I’d always hoped would have been much wilder than i

  • Wolfbitten   Chapter 82

GINGERBy the time we made it to the party, Terri seemed to be in a much better mood. I felt pleased with the progress I’d made. She was opening up more and actually laughing, a huge contrast to earlier that afternoon.“Let’s go get some drinks!” I exclaimed and led her into the kitchen of the small house we’d come to. They had a huge bowl of jungle juice set out, so I filled our Solo cups with generous pours. We clinked our cups together and made it out to the living room where music was blasting and different students were gathered. I sniffed around, but only humans seemed to be in attendance so far.“How’d you hear about this party?” Terri asked.“It’s kind of funny,” I said. “I met another one of our kind earlier today at school. She gave me her number and said there’d be more of us here tonight.”“Oh,” Terri replied, but didn’t seem as enthusiastic about it as I thought she’d be. “Do you know what pack she was from?”“I couldn’t tell,” I replied. “And she didn’t say.”“It’s usual
