Jasper I just got off the phone with Briar and looked at the GPS screen to see how much further we had to go. Five more hours and we would be home. This second day was going to be a little longer with how we broke it up, so I hoped Lianna could control her antsy nature. I honestly didn’t mind stopping for her. I just didn’t want to get annoyed with her. For me, that was super easy with females. All of them annoyed me except for her so far. Then again, we haven’t known each other long. “What was that about other girls?” Lianna asked in a teasing voice. I groaned in irritation that she wanted to talk about this. Was this really happening to me right now? Was she even going to believe me after I explained my stupid ass plan that happened to work? I took a breath and said, “I was acting like I was sleeping with everything in sight to keep the humans thinking I was like them.” She laughed and asked, “Did it at least work out for you?” “Yeah. No one ever questione
Jasper I found a few hotels in town and researched each of them before I selected one that I thought would be good for us. I drove to the Wright Hotel and parked the truck out front. I went inside and secured a room on the first floor. Originally, I wanted two rooms next to each other so I could have some time alone with Lianna, but the prices were too high for the money I had left from this trip. All I was able to get was one room that led directly to the parking lot so we could get to the horses if we needed to. I pulled the truck into a spot not far from the hotel room door and we got out. I opened the door to the room and the three of us stepped inside to check out the space we had for the night. I made sure to get two beds because I'm sure Luis was in dire need of stretching out properly after sleeping on that tiny couch the past two nights. I knew my thinking was correct when he smiled and plopped down face-first on the bed that was closest to the door. I smiled at
Lacy It was getting late in the day for us to still be in the office working. Aunt Cat and Uncle Owen brought all of us dinner at the packhouse and checked in to make sure we were good. The kitchen staff had the night off tonight, so there was no service for dinner. Briar, Jacob, Sloan, and I ate dinner and worked on the drones as best we could. It was crazy that they were able to get four of the six they saw. Hearing about the paperweight being thrown by Jacob was comical. All four of us were in Briar’s office working on getting information from the little computers. We managed to get feed from the cameras but weren’t able to trace it back to anyone. That wasn't really helpful. All it told us was what they were watching. I watched Sloan as she worked on her computer to help us try and track down the IP address and get the last of the information on the drones. She was good at this. She was really good at this. “Where did you learn how to do this?” I asked her as I wa
Briar I was up early as always this morning. I tried to be quiet as I started making breakfast. I just had the overhead light of the stove on to keep the tranquil darkness in the house. Sloan was asleep on the couch with her laptop still open on the coffee table. She must have been up late trying to help us and passed out instead of going to her room. That was ok, I didn’t mind. As I made our food, my phone went off on the counter with a text from Jasper saying, “We are headed out. We will be there in four hours if I’m lucky.” I texted him back saying, “Alright. I’ll be around. Probably at my house.” “Ok.” I put my phone down on the counter and went back to making breakfast. As I finished cooking, I heard Sloan stir from her sleep on the couch. I stopped and looked back at her. She was stretching with her eyes still closed and I found it adorable as hell to watch. I turned back to the stove and cut off the burner so I could put everything on the plates. I l
Sloan Meeting Jasper was different than what I figured it would be. For one, Briar never said that they were identical twins. If Jasper shaved his beard off, I wouldn’t be able to tell the two of them apart by looks, only by smell. I was stunned that he had such a full beard at his age, but he looked good with it. By no means is that me wanting Briar to grow a beard though. I liked his clean-shaven face. I desperately wanted that smooth face between my legs earlier, but that was interrupted for the second time today. Oh well, we will get there. After meeting Jasper, Lianna, and Luis, we ate lunch at the packhouse, then got them settled in the rooms upstairs in Briar’s home. We would have a full house for a while, which was different for me. From everything I was told, Jasper didn’t really have a home of his own. It was from the uncertainty of his destiny, but I’m sure he would figure it out. Jasper and Lianna got their horses out of the trailer and we set up a bigger
Sloan When everyone was finished with dessert and several of us were still standing around talking, Jacob said, “Briar, I have a question for you.” “What’s up?” he asked from beside me. “Why haven’t you made this girl part of our pack yet?” “I offered…” Briar started to explain in an uncomfortable tone. I cut in to explain my reasoning and said, “And I’m thinking about it.” “What’s there to think about?” Jacob asked me in curiosity. I took a deep breath and looked him in the eyes before saying, “I’m not sure that I'm the right person to be the Luna. I don’t know the first thing about being part of a pack or really what it means to be a Luna. I just need to make sure I’m needed here.” “The fact that you're thinking of others and not yourself says you're the right person for the pack and your mate. Not a lot of she-wolves would do that,” Lianna told me. I took her words into account and nodded my head. Maybe she was right. Maybe I was the right
Jasper I had been horribly wrong about Sloan. I felt awful for her and the way her dad treated her during that phone call. All of this with her and Briar was a huge coincidence. We are really given the things that we need when we need them the most. Lianna and Sloan stayed up pretty late last night while drinking spiked hot chocolate and talking shit about their dads. I’m sure for them it was therapeutic, but for me and Briar it was horrifying to know the things they had to deal with. My heart was heavy for them. We had the best parents in the world compared to them. Briar and I were up early this morning while our mates slept in. Luis met us down in the kitchen and the three of us started making breakfast for the house. We had biscuits going in the oven, Briar was scrambling a bunch of eggs, I had coffee going, and Luis was prepping small steaks to fry. We had everything done before the she-wolves were even moving. I looked at Briar as he stared at his bedroom doo
Lianna We followed the guy from the restaurant for an hour until he turned off the highway onto a dusty dirt road. Jasper drove past the turn-off slowly so we could look down it. It was a very long dirt road with no buildings in sight, but we had no idea what this place was. There were thick woods of paper birch and sugar maple on both sides of the dirt road. There was a lot of thick cover for wolves and a community. “Where are we?” I asked. “An area called Notre Dame de Lourdes,” Jasper answered. “So we aren’t even close to Winnipeg?” I asked. “Nope. It’s possible that the pack moved or that this place is a hideout of some kind for this guy,” he said. “What do you want to do?” Luis asked. “I want to see what’s down that road.” “Why don’t you park off the road and the four of us can go for a walk? Your truck is loud, so if there are multiple wolves in the area, they will hear it turn onto the dirt road,” Sloan said. “That’s what I was thin
