I woke up real late the next morning, shocked to see the time on the clock hung on the wall Infront of me. I felt I but relived… my ancke was definitely better than yesterday though the pain was still there. I took a shower, wore the boring cloths left in the wardrobe. “ Another day to spend hours of boredom… I really missed my phone man.” I growled knowing this pack was definitely a boring one and blending with them was definitely going to be hard, making my plan to get information about my brother's murderer a long term project. I walked out of the room, wanting to explore the pack house a little. The guard at my back followed me immediately and I shot him a hard glare knowing how uncomfortable I feel with all these formalities. In annoyance, I stormed into Cyrus's room, without knowing. I didn't turn from the window side. He just stood with a glass on his hand. “ I think you need to talk to your guards. If you knew me even a little, you'll know I was never an alpha female who loved being treated like she had power. I really hate the idea of someone following me like a bee.” He didn't respond. Instead he picked up his phone, answering a call that came in. “ Alright.” He responded to the call and ended it, finally turning and walking out of the room without even sparing me a glance. Who the hell does he think he is? I taught he was slowly having humanity in him but I was clearly wrong. He is still the monster I knew he was…. But at least he wasn't the type of monster that could kill a child. I walked out of the room to find the hallway empty. I didn't see the noisy guard who was always around me. It all looked like they had disappeared or something… just just as I walked further, I saw her. Violet… Cyrus's mother. I had heard her name years ago before and during the wars, but I never expected to stand in the same room with her… She was rumoured to be just as ruthless as Cyrus during her prime and she had trained Cyrus single handedly. I stepped forward and gave a small nod. “Good morning. You must be the Luna Mother of Raven Claw.” knowing she was definitely going to remember my face. She looked at me the way someone looks at a stain on clean clothes. Her eyes moved from my face down to my bandaged ankle and back up again. She did not smile, nor did not speak. She simply turned her head toward one of the maids and said, “Show me to my room. I am tired from the journey.” The maid hurried to obey. Violet walked past me without another glance. The guards followed and I stood there for a few seconds, feeling the heat rise in my cheeks. Everyone in Raven Claw was really weird. I turned and walked back toward the stairs, muttering under my breath…. I guess she really remembered me. I must be really famous — I thought, trying to distract myself from Cyrus and Violet's behavior. CYRUS'S POV I sat behind my desk with the laptop open after welcoming my mom, going through reports from the northern borders. The door opened without a knock and my mind drifted to Laura for some reason only to see my mother walk in with her shoulder high. She came straight to my side of the desk and placed both hands on my shoulders, looking me up and down. “Look at you,” she said with a warm but firm voice. “You have grown into a full man my son. Broad shoulders… strong presence, And yet you still don't want to give this pack a Luna. The elders will definitely talk Cyrus… even if they are too scared to say it to your face. But you know I care for you my son, you definitely need a woman to tend to you when I'm not close” “ I thought you mentioned you were back for good…” “ Yes son. And I'll definitely help you find your Luna… I'm old now and I'm definitely tired of answering the Luna of Raven claw…” “We should not discuss this mother. Cut off the topic.” I said still keeping my eyes on the screen. She sighed and sat in the chair across from me. “Always so cold… you turned out to be worse than me.. Fine. Let us talk business then.” We went through the usual things, the grain stores for winter, the training schedules for the younger warriors, the latest message from the eastern packs about shared hunting grounds. I answered every question with short, clear words, she listened, but her eyes kept moving to the door and then back to me. Her attention was not fully on our conversation but I didn't want to ask her because I had a feeling it had to do with Laura. After a long period of silence she leaned forward. “Who was the lady I saw in the hall earlier?” I looked up, a little surprised. She did not remember Laura?.. That was good and with the maids not knowing her face, she was definitely safe and my mom wouldn't want to investigate, thinking she was definitely a low life. ” “I saved her from dying,” I said. “She was running from something, Injured and about to jump off a cliff. I brought her here.” “ Do you know what she was running from?.” She asked with her voice a bit high. “ Mother I'm strong enough to fight whatever was after her, and if they knew she was in our pack, trust me they'll keep off.” My mother raised one eyebrow. “I hope you do not have plans of marrying her… you seem interested in her because my son wouldn't just save a girl.” I raised my own brow in return. “I do not have feelings for her at all.” She nodded, looking pleased. “Better. Because I did not see any pack mark on her, and I cannot feel her aura either. A woman without a clear scent or mark is dangerous. She could be hiding something... Keep your distance Cyrus.” I did not answer. I simply closed the laptop and stood up. “You should rest after your journey. The maids prepared your usual room.” She watched me for another moment, then stood as well. “I will. But think about what I said. This pack cannot stay without a proper Luna forever.” She left, and I stayed in the room, staring at the closed door. LAURA'S POV I tried again in the afternoon. My ankle felt steady enough for a short walk outside as boredom took over completly. I needed air and a perfect training ground fir myself. I left the room to notice the guard wasn't there again… I guess Cyrus really spoke to him or something. I walked toward the main doors of the pack house. Two guards stepped in front of me before I could reach the open air. “Miss Laura,” one of them said with a polite but firm voice. “You must seek permission from the Alpha before leaving the pack house grounds.” I rolled my eyes. “Am I a prisoner now?” They kept blank faces. “We are just following orders,” the second one said. “The Alpha’s orders. No one leaves without his word.” I stared at them for a long second. The anger rose slowly in my chest, knowing if I'm not allowed to leave, my plan can't definitely work out because I can't train in my room and I can definitely never join the warriors train.LAURA'S POV I woke up real late the next morning, shocked to see the time on the clock hung on the wall Infront of me. LAURA'S POVI sat on the edge of the bed after the maids left, staring at the tray they had brought earlier. The food smelled different from what I was used to. My stomach growled, but I did not trust the food fully. I swallowed before picking up the spoon, feeling weird to try something totally different. I picked up the spoon and took a small bite of the stew and the taste hit my tongue right away. It was bland, almost watery, with too much salt and not enough of anything else. I chewed slowly, then spit it back into the bowl. The meat was worse, definitely cooked differently. I pushed the tray away and stood up carefully, testing my ankle. The pain was still there, but I could walk if I limped.“Is this what Raven Claw eats?” I muttered to myself. “No wonder everyone here looks pale… yeah asides Cyrus but every other person looks real pale.” I limped toward the door. My stomach gave a small sharp and sudden cramp, making me pause for a second. I pressed a hand to my belly and wai
MIKE’S POV I waited until the moon was high and the pack house had gone quiet. Most of the wolves were either sleeping or on night patrol far from the main building. I had already planned every step in my head. I knew how to move without leaving a clear trail, that was why Astra trusted me with the dirty work.I went to the priestess first. She was still in her small room near the temple, sitting by the window with an old book open on her lap. When I knocked she looked up, her eyes sharp even in the low light.“What do you want at this hour?” she asked bluntly. I kept my voice low and respectful. “The Alpha is asking for you, Great Priestess. He said it is urgent. Something about the old rites and the coming change of power…He wants your guidance before the night ends.”She frowned but closed the book. “Strange hour for such talk. But if the Alpha calls, I will go.”I offered my arm like a proper guard. She took it and we walked through the quiet halls. I led her not toward the Alph
LAURA'S POV I woke up again after hearing the door open. My senses were more active now, my head still ached from where he had hit me earlier, and my ankle throbbed under the scarf he had tied around it. The chains on my wrists felt heavy as I shifted a little on the big bed and the metal rattled softly.Alpha Cyrus stood by the door. He leaned on the frame with his arms crossed, watching me like I was some strange animal he had never seen before, or maybe an animal he was sent to study. I stared back at him for a long time.. it almost felt as if we were in some kind of staring competition or something. A cough almost escaped my throat at the moment but I shook it off while clearing my throat. “Why are you looking at me like that?” I finally asked. “Stop staring.” I added, knowing how uncomfortable it was becoming. He did not move right away. He tilted his head a little, still leaning on the door. “Why do you look so weak Laura. The Laura I knew would have escaped this pack house
JAXON The pain did not stop. It stayed. It burned in my chest like something had been ripped out and left a hollow space behind. I stood in my room, shirt torn, blood still drying at the corner of my mouth. The bond break had not just hurt my body. It hurt my wolf. It hurt my pride. It hurt everything. I could still feel my wolf snarling beneath my skin like it was trying to fight me itself. I paced the room like a caged beast. “She wouldn’t survive long,” I muttered to myself. “She’s weak. She’s wolfless.” Yet my chest tightened every time I remembered the look in her eyes when she said she rejected me. No fear was shown, she was meant to be weak.. she was meant to depend on me to survive, but instead.... Hatred filled her eyes. The door burst open. The guards rushed in, breathing hard, dirt and blood on their clothes. “Well?” I snapped. “Where is she?” One of them bowed quickly. “Alpha… we traced her scent.” “And?” I growled. “It disappeared… at the
LAURA When I finally felt they were completely out of sight, I jumper down, tearing my down, just so I could run freely. I ran for minutes, seeing it was getting dark. I couldn't afford to get caught, nor would I want to fall into the hands of rougues. “I hear footsteps.” The words floated through the trees like a death sentence. My heart jumped violently as I tripped and landed hard on the forest floor, leaves biting into my palms. I didn’t look back. I couldn’t. My lungs burned, my legs screamed, but I kept running anyway. Run. That was all my body knew now. Branches whipped my face. Thorns tore my arms, but I pushed through it, sobbing as I ran deeper into the woods. The night air was cold against my skin, yet sweat soaked my back. “She’s bleeding,” a voice growled behind me. “I can smell it.” “Don’t let her escape!” I stumbled. Pain exploded through my ankle as my foot twisted the wrong way. I screamed and fell, rolling down a small slope before crashing
“Let her cry. She will definitely get over it by tomorrow." Kristina said loudly. That was the last thing I heard before the guards shut the door. The room they threw me into was small. Too small for a Luna. Too small for a woman who had just given birth. The walls were bare stone, cold and gr
“Why does my son carry another pack’s mark!!." Jaxon yelled, holding our child like it was a piece of dirt or a curse itself. I was still shaking on the bed, sweat on my skin, blood between my legs, my body burning and aching after hours of pain. The pack midwives were still around me, one holding
