4| Nothing but lies

JAXON

The pain did not stop.

It stayed.

It burned in my chest like something had been ripped out and left a hollow space behind. I stood in my room, shirt torn, blood still drying at the corner of my mouth. The bond break had not just hurt my body. It hurt my wolf. It hurt my pride. It hurt everything.

I could still feel my wolf snarling beneath my skin like it was trying to fight me itself.

I paced the room like a caged beast.

“She wouldn’t survive long,” I muttered to myself. “She’s weak. She’s wolfless.”

Yet my chest tightened every time I remembered the look in her eyes when she said she rejected me.

No fear was shown, she was meant to be weak.. she was meant to depend on me to survive, but instead....

Hatred filled her eyes.

The door burst open.

The guards rushed in, breathing hard, dirt and blood on their clothes.

“Well?” I snapped. “Where is she?”

One of them bowed quickly. “Alpha… we traced her scent.”

“And?” I growled.

“It disappeared… at the Raven Claw border.”

The room went silent.

“What?” My voice dropped dangerously low.

“She is in Raven Claw territory,” the guard continued. “We could not cross. Alpha Cyrus’ wolves were already there.”

My hands clenched into fists.

Raven Claw.

Cyrus.

The powerful pack that almost conquered grim wolf, if she was indeed saying the truth about being a grim wolf werewolf, why would she go to her enemies... this made me dispise her the more.

the guts she had to lie... does she take me for a fool without a brain, that I wouldn't figure out she was telling ties.. that I wouldn't figure out one day that the child she called ours was nothing but a fucking bastard.

The irony tasted bitter on my tongue.

Kristina scoffed from the side. “Of course,” she said loudly. “That slut didn’t even run close, She ran straight to another Alpha.”

I turned slowly to her.

“She knew you wouldn’t forgive her,” Kristina continued, walking closer. “ And she knew the father of her child would never accept her especially after her bastard died. So she ran to spread her legs elsewhere.”

“Enough,” I said coldly.

She smiled, thinking she was winning.

“She probably planned it all,” Kristina added. “That child was never yours, Jaxon. She knew it. That’s why she....”

“Get out.”

She blinked. “What?”

“Leave my room,” I repeated. “Now.”

Her smile dropped.

“You’re choosing her again?” she snapped. “After everything?”

I pointed at the door. “Out.”

Her face twisted with anger, she grabbed her phone from the nightstand and stormed past me.

“You’ll regret this,” she said bitterly. “She’s gone. Dead or whoring herself in Raven Claw.”

I watched her till she left the room along with the guards.

The door slammed.

I stood alone again.

My wolf stirred restlessly inside me.

“She is mine,” I growled. “Bond or no bond.”

I would get her back.

No matter the cost.

KRISTINA

The moment I stepped into my room, laughter filled the air.

Three women sat around my table, glasses raised, wine spilling as they laughed loudly.

“Finally!” one of them cheered. “She’s gone!”

“About time,” another said. “That wolfless thing never deserved to be Luna.”

I smiled and lifted my glass. “To Laura,” I said mockingly. “May she rot wherever she ran to.”

They clinked glasses.

“To the new Luna,” one of them added. “You.”

I laughed, feeling light for the first time in days.

“She was always a problem,” I said. “Weak. Crying. Acting like a victim.”

“And now she lost her child,” another woman giggled. “How tragic.”

I took a sip of wine, enjoying the burn.

“Good riddance,” I said. “Now nothing stands in my way.”

The door opened.

My son Max walked in.

He was small, his dark hair messy, his eyes confused, which made me worry.

“Mother?” he asked quietly.

I turned. “What is it?”

He hesitated. “I… I didn’t like what Father did.”

My smile faded.

“What are you talking about?”

“The baby,” he said softly. “I thought I could finally have someone to play with.”

My hand tightened around my glass.

“What baby?” I snapped.

“The one Laura had,” he said. “Father killed him. I heard the servants talking.”

I walked toward him slowly.

I knelt in front of him and grabbed his shoulders.

“You will never,” I said sharply, “call anyone else your sibling.”

His eyes widened.

“You are my only child,” I continued. “Do you understand?”

He nodded slowly, tears forming.

“That child was nothing,” I said coldly. “Nothing.”

I stood and turned back to my friends.

“Finish your drinks,” I said. “Tomorrow, the pack will see me as their Luna.”

Behind me, my son stood quietly, watching me before he left.

he wouldn't understand I was doing it all for him. if Laura's son was to be alive, Jaxon will choose him to be the next alpha and not my max and that would hurt me more than anything.

I never for once wanted Jaxon to finally meet his fated mate, and how he has, I'm happy it finally ended up this way.

ASTRA

The news of Laura's ruined marriage reached my ear in no time. I made sure the whereabouts of Laura was kept low, and almost everyone thought Laura was dead ever since she left the pack.

.she never knew it was all part of my plan. it has always been my dream to become the alpha female of grim wolf pack, and now my father was retiring, I would finally be the alpha in no time.

I suddenly heard a knock on my door, opened it to see the priestess walk in.

" How may I help you great priestess. or do you have good news of some sort for me?." I asked sitting on my bed, picking up my phone and crossing my legs. i knew my actions was most definitely annoying in the sight of the priestess but that's why I did it anyway.

" I came to warn you Astra as I know my days here on earth was short. the decisions you've made will turn against you girl, and the ones you'll make in the future will end up causing you pain if you don't handle them properly."

" Is that suppose to be a threat " I yelled now standing.

" It's a warning girl. I know all about what you did few years ago. I know how you decived your sister, all for your selfish motives. like I said my life was cut short, and before it does, I'll correct a few wrongs." she said walking straight out of my room.

I stood silent for some time, clearly confused on what to do. just then I picked up my phone, texting mike my personal guard.

** I wnat you to get something done for me and I promise you, your price will be large***

*** What do you want done my lady, I'll surely get it done. but I wouldn't want money***

*** what do you want then ***

*** you know exactly what I want my lady ***

His last text got me thinking. what exactly does he want. he was perfect for the job and he was the only one I could trust with secrets. just then a thought flew into my brain.

*** Alright then Mike... after I've been made alpha, you'll keep being my personal guard and it'll give opportunity to spend quality time with me in my room, just the two of us***

*** What do you want done my lady ****

A smile crossed over my face, making me bite my lips in excitement.

*** I want you to observe the priestess. I believe she must have gone to my father's room by now to tell him about how I deceived Laura into sealing her wolf and other wrongs I've done. I'll want you to find a way to get them out of the pack at night, cause an accident or something but come home with good news mike. let me go shopping for my coronation." I typed with a wide smile on my face.

*** Consider it done my lady *** He replied and with that, I threw my phone on the bed, walking straight to the mirror.

" Nothing could ever go wrong now alpha Astra. " I whispered, and a loud wicked laugh followed, echoing across my room.
