As soon as they were done with breakfast, Damon dropped her back to her place. Mia went inside, picked her mail and changed into work clothes. She didn't have enough time to open the package, so the assistant thought of opening it later.
Back in the office, everyone's busy with their thing, so she slid into her desk quickly. Mia had lunchtime with Jane to discuss what happened the previous night. As she was arranging and marking the emails to top priority to least significant, there's a knock on the door.
"Hey, Mia! How's the day going?" Kelly asked. She's one of the employees. They only interacted during gatherings, so the assistant offered her a polite smile. "Can't complain. Do you need anything?"
"Yeah. I have an important meeting today so can you help me with something?"
"Sure!"
"Great! Thank you so much. Can you go through this repor
The next morning they had to get back in work mode, getting ready for the most important presentation.Damon insisted on them having a large platter of breakfast foods, coffee flowing freely in one of the small diner. Her boss believed that having food always braced them for the rest of the day. Mia couldn't exactly argue with that kind of logic. They then headed over to Cromwell's office, precisely as Mia pictured it to be—surrounded by monumental buildings and a spectacular view of the HOLLYWOOD sign. She wouldn't mind working there just for the view. The CEO introduced her to the important people, grinning the entire time when Cromwell asked if they were a couple. A question like that would definitely have offended Damon in New York, but in LA he simply laughed."Mia I'm so sorry but can you wait here with my assistant for a while? We can have a quick meeting" Mr Cromwell smiled at her politely, his e
Mia stirred the next morning, disturbed by the slither of sunlight that was creeping its way across her face. She shifted uncomfortably away from it, flinching at the sudden pain at her side as she moved. Maybe if she hadn't slept on one side. The assistant opened one eye, sliding her gaze over to the other side of the bed, and her heart fell at the sight of the empty yet rumpled sheets. That meant Damon had slept next to him, at least for a little while, but now he was gone. Mia climbed out of bed, ignoring the protests her body was making at the sudden movements. She headed over to the closets and pulled out her suitcase, hurrying to grab something to put on after shower. Mia pulled on a long-sleeved top, one of her boss, but it looked so cosy and warm that she wanted to wear it. With that thought in her mind, the assistant rushed inside the bathroom. After slipping on her clothes, she put her sunglasses up high
Mia's back felt hot and sweaty as she started to stir, the low hum of the room's air conditioning unit finally rousing her from sleep. Her alarm hadn't yet gone off so it must still be early, but she had to escape the relentless heat. The assistant didn't understand it, since the air con was working. As she went to move away but found it bit difficult, only to realise that something was holding her down. Her eyes flew open and looked down, eyes wide as she took in the sight of Damon's long arm wrapped tightly around her, gripping at the fabric of her shirt, actually his shirt.Even though this is what Mia had wanted for a long time, it was suddenly too much.Mia tried to wriggle away. His hold tightened as she tried to escape, and a groan left her lips as he pulled her back. Her back flush against his bare chest now. When did he get rid of his shirt? That's not the issue anyway.
/HIS POV/"Damon," She whispered, voice cracked and rough. "We have got to move; we're going to waste—"The CEO lifted his head, blinking awake. In the tenderness of the early morning and her delicately drunken state, Mia looked so beautiful – if he were the writing type Damon could have written sonnets about her. Atleast tried to. The way her loose strands framed her face, the straight line of her nose, those gorgeous plush lips. He reached up to push some of her hair behind her ear and felt his heart constrict."You look really beautiful," He whispered, fingers lingering against the side of her face."And you are very cheesy" She mumbled and kissed the inside of his wrist. His pulse jumped, and they stared at each other for a few long seconds before his assistant let out a sigh.Damon threaded his fingers in her hair, just watching her face afterwa
/HIS POV/It's relaxing, sitting in front of the fountain there, as the soft wind blowing past them as their company. Damon never thought he would be spending time like this with his assistant of all people. They have come a long way since they started, so it's not surprising to be sitting together. After gorging on the corn dogs, they decided to get the famous ice cream Mia has been raving about. The assistant wrapped her arms together as she stared at the afternoon sun. It's a scorching day compared to New York."What's left on the agenda for today?" She lazily asked, turning her head towards him.Mia was watching him expectantly as she licked at her cone. Whoever told that cone ice creams were only for kid didn't know what they were saying. Damon was trying not to stare at the way she flattened her tongue against the ice cream, but it's a bit distracting. He cleared his throat and dropped his
"Move over; I want the aisle seat" Damon happily obliged, dragging himself over to the other seat. Even though they were the only ones in the entire jet, Mia loved to be demanding in the morning. She plumped down next to him and let out a big chunk of air."I'm so tired" She moaned. "And we've got a six-hour flight in front of us."Unwisely, they'd decided to pull an all-nighter the night before, laying on the bed and gazing at the stars in the sky. Now, ten am LA time; they hadn't had a proper lie down for sixteen hours.Mia didn't bother to get ready at all. Her hair was messy, and she was wearing a baggy grey hoodie with shorts, the most comfortable you can get for a flight. After they drove back to the hotel, she didn't have much of a choice than to pick the first outfit that looked cosy. The assistant pushed the chair to handle up and leaned into him. Damon carefully ran his finger against her loose stra
"I still can't believe you just – abandoned me," Jane grumbles now, voice a bit high.Mia tried not to roll her eyes as she treaded lightly across the plush white carpet in their break room. For a change, they decided to stay back in the office and have lunch instead of going out. That was all her idea. She had just finished her work and then thought of whipping up some sandwich for Jane and her self. After all, Mia didn't have a boss to give her orders and demand ridiculous things. That's right. Damon didn't show up to work. It was taking everything in her, not just to quit working and show up on his door. What good would that do anyway? She can't abandon her responsibilities as he did. So the assistant dropped him a mail asking about his health while also informing about his cancelled meetings."I didn't abandon you, don't make it sound so dramatic. I went away to work with my boss."
/His POV/As soon as Damon got back to his place, he had several messages waiting for him. The usual business stuff but the messages from Lily stood out the most. He couldn't ignore them. That's why he called her urgently, not caring that it was seven in the evening and she must be busy elsewhere. If she had to leave that many voice mails it must be important.Like he guessed she was busy and told him that she'd come the next morning with breakfast.Damon was jet-lagged, and he couldn't muster himself to call Mia, knowing very that his assistant was tired as well. She pointedly glared at him as they exited the aeroplane and asked him to let her rest. Last time he checked, she was the one who wanted to ride him during the journey. How was she blaming him for her fatigue? The CEO knew better than to argue, so he simply let that go and promised to see her next day in office. ***A
