Rosetta's POV
I was looking at Zylia, who was now sleeping peacefully on her bed. I'm still at Nicholas's house because Zylia wanted to play with me. She wanted to bond with me, and I couldn't say no because she's so cute. I didn't even notice it was already evening. "You can just go home tomorrow, it's getting late," Nicholas said, standing at the door of Zylia's room. I didn't speak. I stood up and walked past him. I left Zylia's room, and he followed me. "I still have things to do at my apartment," I replied. "But it's late, Rosetta. You can't go home at this hour," Nicholas said, seemingly trying to convince me to sleep at his house. Not going to happen. I faced him and crossed my arms over my chest. "Don't you remember that you drove me to my apartment the other day?" I raised an eyebrow at him, but he looked away, which made me smirk. "Mr. Riva—" "It's Nick." He cut me off. I rolled my eyes at what he said. How pretentious. It's his last name anyway. "Fine. Nick it is..." I grabbed my bag and slung it over my shoulder. "But like I said earlier, I'm going home. I still have a lot to do, and I have an apartment to go home to." He didn't say anything else. He turned his back on me and started walking down the stairs. I just shrugged and followed him. I'm right, aren't I? Just because I accepted his offer doesn't mean I won't go home to my apartment anymore. Yes, I may have been raised with a silver spoon, but I have a different life now. I shouldn't depend on him. "Get in the car," he ordered me before getting into the driver's seat. His voice returned to its snobbish tone. He didn't even give me a single glance. Is he mad? I just pouted and followed his order. I got into the passenger seat and immediately put on my seatbelt. It's better to be safe than sorry; I don't want to go to heaven early. He didn't say any words. He quickly drove the car away from his house. His gaze was focused on the road. His forehead was furrowed, and his eyebrows were drawn together. I sighed. "Are you mad?" I asked. "Is there any reason for me to be mad at you?" he shot back. I closed my mouth and looked away. Yeah, right. There's no reason for him to be mad at me. I'm just assuming things. You're so delusional, Rosetta! I just leaned back in my seat while looking outside at the cars and streetlights we were passing. The night was peaceful, with no chaos, just tranquility. I wish it could always be like this. But the world isn't perfect. It's chaotic because of people who are not content with their wealth. Lost in my thoughts, I didn't notice we were already in front of my apartment. "We're here," he said softly, without looking at me. I took off my seatbelt and faced him. "Thank you..." He just nodded in response. I sighed before opening the door. I got out, and a strong gust of wind touched my skin. "Uhmm, just call me if there's anythin—" "Just close the door, Rosetta. I will just call you when you need to sign the papers," he cut me off. I nodded silently and closed the door. He quickly drove his car away from me. I just watched his car as it drove away. I let out a loud sigh when he finally disappeared from my sight. I shook my head and walked toward my apartment door. I took the key from my bag to open the door. I went inside and immediately threw myself onto the small sofa. I can't help but overthink that he is mad at me. What if he doesn't go through with his offer? What about Dad's huge debt? I heaved a sigh before I lay down on the sofa. I stared at the ceiling, thinking about my life if I couldn't pay my father's debt. "Why was your debt so big, Dad? Why did you get a loan if you couldn't even pay it?" I asked, one question after another, as if he would answer me. My deep thoughts were interrupted when my phone suddenly rang. I quickly got up to grab my phone from the table. My mouth fell open when I saw Nicholas's name on my phone screen. We exchanged numbers earlier. I frantically answered his call when my phone rang again. "W...what do you need?" I asked, stammering, and I wanted to scold myself. Why am I even stuttering? I heard him sigh from the other line. "I'm sorry for my attitude earlier," he apologized, which made my lips form into a smile. "It's okay," I replied, trying to stop myself from being too happy. Nicholas Rivas apologizing? He was so different from when we first met. He was so grumpy. I didn't know he would apologize to me this quickly. "I'll just have my driver pick you up tomorrow," he said from the other line. His voice was too soft to handle. He was calm, not rough or cold like he was when he talked to me earlier. "Zylia might look for you," he added. I nodded my head as if he was in front of me. "Okay. I'll just wake up early tomorrow." "Hmm, okay, I'll hang up now...." "Okay... umm, Nick..." I stopped talking and took a deep breath to gather the strength to say the words I didn't say earlier. "Drive safely. It's not safe to drive that fast." "I will. Thank you, Rosetta." And with that, he ended the phone call. My phone remained on my ear while a happy smile was plastered on my face. What is this, Rosetta? Don't tell me you're fucking liking him? No! You can't like him like that, Rosetta. You're getting attached too quickly! I just shook my head. I hope that accepting Nick into my life is the right decision. I hope that agreeing to be a mother to his daughter and his wife on paper is also the right thing to do. I also know that the kindness he's showing me is because he needs me in his life. "I promise, I'll be a good mother to your daughter, Nick. I won't leave her like her biological mother did..."Rosetta's POV"Do what you want." I irritably turned my back on him and quickly left the room.Even now, my face is still hot with embarrassment because of what he said.Seriously? Is that really Nicholas? Oh my God! He always teases me as if I'm going to give in to his flirtatious advances.I shook my head as I walked back to the living area. I'd rather hang out there than in the room with that flirtatious Nicholas. To be honest, he's not usually like this. I prefer it when he's cold and surly toward me rather than sweet and flirty. The Nicholas I've known isn't sweet as sugar.I sat down on the long sofa and reached for the magazine on the center table. I lay down and started reading the contents of the magazine; it was a Vogue magazine.I was busy reading when Nicholas called me from upstairs."Rosetta..."What does this man want now?I annoyedly got up from the sofa and went upstairs. I saw Nicholas standing in the hallway, holding my cell phone."Someone's calling your phone," he
Rosetta's POV"What do you mean, 'you forgot to bring your wife'?" I asked, surprised. I widened my eyes at him. "Are you going crazy, Nick?""Not yet..." He walked closer to me and brought his face to my ear. "But I'm close to going crazy because of you."I disgustedly pushed him away. "Hey, get a grip."He laughed at what I did and backed away a bit. He put his hands in his pockets and stared intently at me."Anyway, I came home because I forgot to bring you to the office. I want to introduce you to everyone."My mouth hung open as I looked at him.Me? He's going to introduce me to everyone? Is he kidding?"Are you serious?" I asked him."Do I look like I'm joking, Rosetta?" he asked me in a serious voice.I looked away from him. "Why do you need to introduce me? I mean, I'm just Dominick Morgan's daughter who has a lot of debt," I said, my voice getting softer and softer."Do you think I'd let them mock you?" he asked again.I shook my head. "No. I just don't want to be talked abou
Rosetta's POVAfter our argument that night, Nicholas and I only talked about Zylia and the debt my father had. He already paid it off. We don't talk about anything else."Mommy, I'm ready for school," Zylia said happily as she came down the stairs. She was wearing her backpack, and her nanny was carrying her other things."I'll take care of Zylia, Manang," I said to Zylia's nanny, Manang Crusita."Alright, Ma'am," she replied and handed me Zylia's other things.Zylia came to my side and I held her hand. We walked out of the mansion together and went to the garage where the driver was waiting.Nicholas had left early for an important meeting, which was fine by me, as I didn't want to ride with him anyway. We've been sleeping in the same room because he insisted. Since I didn't want to argue, I agreed. Nicholas also bought my small apartment, and I don't know why. I just let him, since it was his money. When we arrived at Zylia's school, I walked her all the way to her classroom. Zylia
Rosetta's POVI pushed him away from me and fixed myself. I glared at him, but the fool was just grinning. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest."Stop doing that, Nick," I said stiffly."Doing what?" he asked innocently, adjusting his polo shirt.Seriously, Nick? Really?Once again, I rolled my eyes."Nothing... nothing," I said. I turned away from him, about to leave his room to find Zylia. But he grabbed my wrist."Where are you going, Rosetta?" he asked.I turned to face him and frowned. "To your daughter's room. She's waiting for me.""How about me?" he asked."What about you?" I asked back, surprised.Seriously? What is happening to him?He let go of my hand and turned his back on me. "Nothing... nothing. Go on, go back to Zylia," he said coldly, picking up the black suit case lying on his bed.My forehead was still furrowed as I looked at him. What's wrong with him? I can't understand his mood swings. One minute he's so sweet, and the next, his voice is colder than
Rosetta's POVAfter I signed the marriage contract, I immediately handed it to Nicholas's lawyer."Congratulations, Mrs. Rivas."I just smiled at him. I still couldn't believe I was married to one of the wealthiest and most powerful business tycoons."Thank you, Attorney Montemayor," Nicholas said, sitting beside me.Attorney Montemayor said goodbye and left so he could process the documents Nicholas and I had just signed.Nicholas and I were left alone in his office at home.He picked me up earlier at my apartment. I wasn't even awake yet, but he was already waiting outside my apartment.I was surprised when Nicholas held my hands, which were resting on my lap. I looked up at him, and my heart almost leaped out of my ribcage when I saw that he was already looking at me."We are married now, Rosetta," Nicholas said while his eyes were on my lips.I blinked a few times and swallowed. What the hell?!I gasped when he suddenly claimed my lips. It was a gentle, soft kiss. At first, I didn
