About thirty minutes later, Grayson and Tessa walked into a mobile phone technician store. Leading the way, he walked towards the bald man sitting at the counter with different phone parts scattered all over the table.

“ Hey, I need you to check this phone out for me real quick,” Grayson said impatiently, dropping the phone on the table.

The technician looked at the phone through the upper side of his glasses, then slowly at Grayson, nonchalantly.

“ As you can see, the man in suit, I'm quite busy…” “ Five grand.” He cut in. The technician paused. Looked at the phone again. He cleared his throat and straightened up. “ What exactly is wrong with it?” He asked, dropping what he was doing. “ Feel it.” He did. “ Ow. Has it been inside the oven?” “ No.” Grayson glanced at Tessa who hadn't said a word since, then back at the technician. “ Is that normal?” “At a rate at which you can't even touch it? Hell no. You should throw it away.” The technician said. “ We.. want t

“ GRAYSON!” Tessa's scream ripped through the air as she watched the bottle go for Grayson’s stomach. Gasps erupted from the crowd. Several employees flinched away, some covering their mouths in horror. One woman let out a frightened cry. Blood splattered. For one terrifying second, everyone thought the jagged glass had buried itself inside Grayson. Someone shouted. "Call the police!" "I already did!" Miles shouted back. "Oh my God!" The scene dissolved into chaos. Tessa felt her heart stop. "No...no...no..." But then she saw it, the bottle hadn't reached his stomach. At the very last second, he had caught it, barehanded. The broken glass trapped inside his palm causes blood to stream down between his fingers and drips onto the floor. Yet, Grayson’s face remained frighteningly calm, as though he couldn't even feel the pain. Tyler stared, the rage on his face faltered for a split second, then something even uglier appeared. Disappointment. He g

‘ What happened then happened when I was so young, of course I was terrified, weak, small, just an unlucky girl who happens to fall victim to just some neighboring incident.’ Tessa convinced in her mind. Her fingers tightened around the handle of her handbag. ‘ I'm grown now. Strong. An adult. I'm a fucking married woman now so I have nothing to be scared of.’ She swallowed and made herself think of the reasons why she so wanted this and that rekindled her will fire. “ Yes. I am ready.” A small smile cracked on the doctor's face. He nodded in support. “ I admire your will, Mrs. Tessa. I will prescribe some medications for you and lots of vitamins. There'll be some situations where you'll be having some flashbacks, headaches, and dizziness, these are completely normal symptoms. It becomes a cause for alarm if it starts causing you to bleed,” “ Hm.” She nodded, “ like nose bleeding?” “ Exactly, or you're forgetting some things that are of recent events.” “ Okay.” “ Have you

For several seconds after Grayson left, Tessa remained exactly where she was. Her cheeks burned. Her pulse still racing wildly beneath her skin. She pressed both hands against her face and let out a muffled groan. "That man would be the death of me.” And the worst part? It was the smug look on his face before he walked out. As though he had accomplished exactly what he came to do. Which, unfortunately, he had. She started taking in a few deep breaths and then forced herself to straighten. "Focus, Tessa." She glanced around the storage room, the shelves, the boxes, and the work she had completely forgotten about. Slowly, she bent down to pick up a carton. Before she could lift it, the door suddenly opened. Her heart jumped. Miles peeped into the room. “ Tessa?” She nearly jumped out of her skin upon hearing Miles' voice. “ Miles?” “ Come on out, you've been pardoned.” “ What?!” She straightened. “ Yeah…someone's husband made use of some authority that no boss can

“ Wh. What are you doing here?” She asked, blinking. Already feeling nervous. He looked around casually. “ There aren't many boxes, you should be done in due time.” She scoffed in disbelief and all nervousness vanished. She looked around, frowning. “ I can remember that any small thing, he would say.. you have a husband…your husband is the CEO, and here I am… now that I need my husband, what?” She stretched out her palms and raised her shoulders as she looked back at him and scoffed again. “ Now, he's arriving with gloves.” Her shoulder slumped. ‘ This is ridiculous.’ she said in her mind. Grayson chuckled. “ I've come to help, I figured we'd need this.” He threw her a pair of gloves which she caught in the air. “ Well, at least, he shows up with something.” He giggled and grabbed a box effortlessly, putting it on the shelf. Tessa stood standing, staring at him. “ I think I'll need my sleeves rolled up.” “ I can help with that.” She stepped forward and helped him roll up

Tessa walked into the office first, she had refused to enter with Grayson even though he wanted to. “ We have to keep a low profile, remember?” She had said to him. “ I want a normal working moment till my IT is over.” Even though he grunted and groaned, he had no other choice but to accept her wish, only that, before stepping out of her car, she noticed that her phone was still feeling hot and brought it to Grayson’s notice. “ It's probably just acting up, I'll get you a new one.” “ No, no, no, that's not necessary, it's probably only for now, I'll observe it till lunch time, won't make use of it till then.” “ And if by then it's still acting up?” “ Hmmm, take it for repairing.” “ Isn't that stressful?” “ Well, it's better to at least know what's wrong with it so as to avoid it next time.” “ Whatever you say, princess.” Walking into the office now, she touched the phone in her bag again and it was only getting hotter. “ Just don't burn my bag, this is my favorite.” She m

“ I don't know all that he has taken from you, but he's not taking me.” Tessa tried to reassure. “ No, you don't know that.” He shook his head, tears sliding down his cheeks and the sight made her inside-out twisted guiltily. “ You don't know anything, Tessy.” “ Stop crying, Tyler, please.”

She could feel her heart thudding against her rib, adjusting her big shade glass before taking the elevator to his condo. ‘ I'm insane. Of fuck I'm really insane.’ she clenched her teeth as she repeated in her head. The moment the elevator arrived at the floor, she quickly stepped out, bowing

Something about her answer made his shoulders less tense. His eyes remained closed as he moved his face to her neck, sniffing in her scent. The contact of his face, the warmth of his breath against her skin made her clutched tighter to him. Her head tilted back, but when he sniffed her in, a so

The instant they were swallowed by the darkness, Grayson froze. The grill dropped from his hand with a loud scrape against the floor. “ No..” his voice came out sharp and strained. His hand immediately tightened around his phone, fingers fumbling fra
