LOGIN“You are getting married tonight, and my decision is final.” Hazel’s father said as he stood at the entrance of her room.
“But father, you can’t force me to get married to a man that I do not love nor have seen.” She angrily said as she walked towards her father. “You do not have the right to make decisions for yourself, this is my home, and I detect what stands and what not, save yourself the stress and do exactly what you are told to do.” Hazel’s father walked away after saying those words. She stood there, confused on what to do next. A slight knock came at the door, “And who could that be?” She asked. “Rita my lady, may I come in?” Hazel glanced at her wedding dress on her bed, and muttered, “how could my father do this to me?” She slowly walked to her door and opened it, she adjusted for Rita to come in. “My lady, are you prepared for tonight?” Rita asked, concerned evidence in her voice. Hazel paced round her room like an angry lion, ignoring Rita’s question. “My lady, please slow down, your father might be making the best decision for you.” Hazel paused her pace to catch Rita’s gaze. “He doesn’t know the best decision for me, I am a grown woman and not a child, I am grown enough to know what’s best for me and what not, do you understand that?” “Yes my lady, but…” she was cut. “There’s no but Rita, I am not getting married to that man, I can’t get married to a man that I do not love, don’t you understand that?” Silence enveloped the room that you could hear the sound of a pin if dropped on the floor. “I have a plan.” Hazel breaks the silence. “What plan, my lady?” Rita asked calmly. “Come closer” Hazel said as she whispered into Rita’s ear. “My lady, may I speak?” “Of course you may.” Hazel replied without hesitation, she needed an answer urgently. “Your father’s armies are everywhere, how do you intend running away from home my lady?” “umm.. umm..” Hazel stuttered. “It’s very simple, I would use the back-door that leads to the garden, no one dares to go there at night, with that, they would never find me, and you would go to my father and tell him that I am nowhere to be found, for him not to suspect you, about my plans, okay?” “But my lady, your father left you under my watch, should he know about this, I would definitely be hanged to death.” Rita said with a heart race. “You have nothing to be scared of Rita, my father would definitely believe you, because he trusts you.” Hazel urges Rita. “You have to do this for me, please!” She implores Rita. Rita Bent her head down as if searching for something, after a few seconds, she lifted up her face to look at Hazel and said to her, “I have never seen you sound this weak since I have been serving you for years, you are known for your bravery Hazel, you never give up without a fight, nothing I would say will change your mind,” she inhales deeply, “I will do it.” “I owe you my happiness Rita, you’ve been a shoulder to lean on since I was a child till date, I am never taking it for granted, I promise.” They both hugged Each other tightly, while at that, they heard foot steps approaching. “Those are the armies, they are coming to get you, now you have to run as fast as you can, jump through the window, and find your way out, don’t look back, now go.” Rita said hurriedly. Hazel quickly jumped off the window as she ran towards the back-door that led to the garden. Three armies walked in, only to find Rita alone in the room. “May I ask where our lady is?” one of the armies asked with all seriousness. Rita stood still, short of words, fidgeted. “Her father asked to see her.” His colleague added, as he flashed her a contemptuous glance. Meanwhile, outside the garden, Hazel ran as fast as she could, not paying attention to the darkness that covered the garden, slowly her pace reduced as she heard a footstep approaching her, she quickly stopped, not knowing what to do next, or who it was. Suddenly a light illuminated all over the garden, her father must have instructed his armies to switch on the garden lights just to find her, she heard horses and armies matching towards the garden, she knew it was her father who was after her. “I hope Rita is fine wherever she is?” she whispered to herself, her pace increased, her father and his armies must not find her. She has ran as many kilometers she could from home, not counting her steps of how far she has gone, just as she was about to cross entirely from the garden, a hand gripped her and she fell to a masculine chest as her hand crossed his broad shoulders, he held her tightly round his arms. He smells like mint and rose, his body as masculine as ever, she was braced by his aura, his physique and his voice. “What are you doing alone in the dark?” He asked with a genuine interest. Hazel was lost at the handsome creature who stood facing her, while holding her tightly round his arms. She salivated, but, hadn’t found her voice to speak. “Where are you running to?” He asked again, this time, his voice was more intense and passionate."My Lady, you know you can't keep doing all these yourself, soon enough I would be questioned for it." Mary said to her as she watched her dress herself."Only if you know how to keep a secret then my mother wouldn't know." Star said as she turned towards Mary with smiles. "The dress really fits me well." She added."But my Lady, how did you learn to dress this way? You dress yourself better than any of the maids could have." Mary asked with concerns by seeing the way Star dressed herself nicely.Star chuckled by Mary's words. "You ask too many questions my dearest Mary." She said as she walked towards the door."Forgive me my Lady." Mary apologized as she walked towards the door to open it."But I like your company anyway." Star said as she left her chamber, Mary smiled to herself as she followed behind.Luther and Hazel walked through the Garden at night, holding hands while admiring the beautiful stars in the sky. "I have always wondered why you named our daughter Star." Hazel aske
"But my Lady." Mary called out, and Star turned to catch her gaze."Your work here is done Mary, thank you for assisting me prepare the warm water for my bath." Star said calmly as she smiled warmly to Mary."What if Lady Hazel, your mother questions me about you, I will definitely be in trouble if you are not seen around me, I was instructed to protect you and ensure you are safe, my Lady." Mary said calmly."With or without you, I am safe and I can protect myself, your presence doesn't count, but just to keep you out from troubles you can wait for me in the chamber, pick up a nice dress for me to wear and I will be out soon to join you." Star said with smiles plastered on her face."Alright my Lady." Mary said and left the bathroom. Star stared at the water for a long time, she removed her dress and it fell to the ground. Gently, she stepped into the warm water in the bathtub. She closed her eyes as the warmth of the water soothed her skin and relaxed her muscles. Inside her cha
"Why aren't we affected by the famine?" Hazel asked calmly."Because, great grandmother Gianna wouldn't let it happen." Luther replied to her."How do you know about that?" Hazel asked with eyes widened. "She had promised me in my dreams to keep us safe from any evil happening in this kingdom. All we have to do is to believe in our daughter's fate and let everything fall into place as promised. Please wife, let's be strong for our daughter, please." Luther said while staring deeply into Hazel's eyes, Hazel nodded her head in response. "Would she be trusted in the hands of Elliot and Mary?" Hazel asked calmly."She will definitely be alright, wife, you worry too much. Come to bed, you need some sleep, let's see what tomorrow brings." Luther said and pulled Hazel into his arms and turned off the lamp. While Star was asleep in the darkness of her chamber, she felt someone sat beside her on the bed, she quickly stood up from the bed, wondering who it could be. "It is true of what they
"Very well then, Mary? Step forward." Luther instructed and Mary did exactly as told. "Elliot step forward." Luther added and Elliott did exactly as told."My Lord, My Lady." Elliot said as he stood in the presence of Luther and Hazel."From now on, I put you in charge of my daughter, in everywhere she goes and whatever she does." Luther said calmly."But my Lord, I took an oath to protect you and only you, I can't leave your sight." Elliot said with concerns."I appreciate your support but that applies to my child as well, she should be protected as well as you protect me, you will be her personal guide and Mary will be her personal maid." Luther said to them.Mary raised her head to catch Hazel's gaze, to know if she was in support of the decision of Lord Luther. Hazel nodded towards Mary in agreement, and Mary smiled in response. "You are all dismissed." Luther said and all the maids and armies left the garden at once. Mary walked towards Star and knelt down in front of her. "My
Mary chuckled softly by Hazel's words. "My Lady, I feel so excited by your words, and I promise to put in my best to make you happy." Hazel nodded with smiles. "We will be down in a minute." Hazel said to Mary and locked the door. Hazel walked towards Luther and whispered into his ears."Dinner is set, do you think Star might adapt with the environment?" Hazel asked."I am very sure, look at her, I believe she is perfect now." Luther whispered sweetly into Hazel's ears."You know I can tell what you two have in minds, so there's nothing to hide from me." Star said as she walked towards the door. Hazel and Luther stood up and walked closely to her. "Are you sure you've studied yourself closely child?" Luther asked Star sweetly with smiles plastered on his face. "Trust me father, Emily has taught me how to, so do not be scared and believe in me." Star replied swiftly. She turned towards the door and stared at the door knob for a while, gently, she stretched her hand towards the door
Seconds turned to minutes, minutes turned to hours, hours turned to days, days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months. It was finally time for Star to be seen by the maids and armies. Inside Luther and Hazel's chamber, Star stood in front of the mirror while staring intently at the dress she wore and how unique her hair was made by Emily. "Is this really a good idea?" Hazel asked Emily who stood beside her as they all gazed at Star."Yes my Lady, it is finally time for her to be free around others." Emily replied."And her powers?" Luther asked calmly."Yes my Lord, she has learnt to control her powers in the past months and she is perfect enough to use them, there is nothing to be scared of my Lord." Emily said with smiles. Star turned towards them, and gently walked as if counting her steps but stopped halfway close to them, she gazed at her mother for a long time without a word."Is she alright?" Luther asked, concerned."Yes my Lord." Emily replied."I need to speak to her myse
