Chapter 9 Thank You

Karen probably didn't expect Rebecca to be so assertive. For a while, she was stunned. Then, she started crying even louder.

"Why do you keep upsetting your sister? You wouldn't even be alive today if it weren't for us! You're all fine, but your sister's having an episode! And you still won't compromise! How can you be so cruel?"

Rebecca looked at her in disappointment.

She used to have a flicker of hope. After all, she had called Karen "Mom" for so many years. She wondered if the Browns would care about her after all the years they lived together.

Even just a tiny bit of affection would have been enough for Rebecca.

But it looked like it was just wishful thinking on her part.

She cleared the catch in her throat in silence. But she still had to ask, "What if something happened to me today? What if I was really assaulted?"

Karen was shocked.

Then, she snapped back at Rebecca, "But you're fine now, aren't you? Nothing happened. Why can't you just let it go? You're her big sis
