Derek's POV)
I was getting frustrated as the man in front of me kept yapping about his successful business. The meeting took longer than I expected. It was just a private meeting to discuss our partnership, and he was already getting on my nerves just by being talkative.
My phone rang, and I pulled the phone from my pocket, I checked the caller's name that appeared on my screen. I frowned upon seeing the caller's name. Why on earth was he calling me? Without even excusing myself, I immediately picked the call in front of my client, who seemed not bothered by my rudeness with how I cut him off. I guess he was used to it.
"Yes, Daniel?" I said with the phone in my ear. The call continued for 12 minutes before it ended.
I finally looked at the man in front of me. "Mr Arnold, the partnership with us is going well, with our project being a success." I said ready to leave the meeting room.
Mr. Arnold smiled cunningly. "So why don't we go and celebrate it then?"
I knew quite well what he was thinking. I hated celebrations, even though they had meanings. He was definitely getting back at me, I concluded.
I looked at him with a narrowed gaze, and just when I was about to reject, my assistant shifted to my side to whisper something in my ear.
Sighing in defeat, "sure we can do that," I said annoyingly.
My assistant chose the place of the venue and we arrived there. Stepping out from my car, I looked to my side and saw another car parked at the last roll of cars. Mr. Arnold's driver rushed to open the door for him to step out. He gave me a nod and I nodded back before turning my gaze back to the entrance of the nightclub.
The biggest nightclub ever. I walked into the nightclub I owned. It was one of my many properties that I haven't seen or stepped foot in and today was my first time, all thanks to Mr. Arnold.
I went to the VIP room and my assistant took the privilege of deciding on a drink.
Mr. Arnold seemed to be enjoying my uneasiness. I just felt like this was a complete waste of time. I was that kind of person that anyone would call punctual because I love keeping to time and I hated anything that would make me feel bored because I was always busy with business.
And the beat at the background felt like noise in my ears, plus the girls there were less enticing. Actually, I can't remember the last time I found any lady enticing.
I'm still cursing Mr. Arnold in my head, I heard someone calling my name. I turned my head to the left and saw two of my clients walking towards me.
They came closer, and we exchanged pleasantries since we weren't that stable in terms of communication. They sat close to me and discussed business. I was glad that I could finally pay attention to something in order other than the strippers.
"You finally entered your club," Mike smirked at me. He was more of a playboy, getting the other gender's attention with just a smile. His brown hair and brown eyes made him look approachable, but his business partners knew how devilish he was.
He was a drug dealer and I did most of my deals with him. And beside him was Luka, his best friend. They were no different from each other in terms of businesses but Luka was the opposite of him when it comes to his playboy personality.
"Come on, Derek, we didn't come all the way here from Japan just for business, we came to have fun!" Mike groaned and waved for a stripper to come over.
The server brought another drink to the table and I took a glass my assistant poured. I drank it with a sharp look at the stage where ladies danced half naked.
I heard a shriek and turned to look only to get a splash of a drink on my face. This was surprising, I was already annoyed and this increased it. Everybody was quiet, and my assistant was quick to give me a handkerchief.
Someone pulled the server away while I wiped the drink off.
"I'm so sorry, boss," the manager begged me repeatedly, and I was already getting a headache. She beckoned for a stripper and whispered in her ears.
"Sir please. I'll do whatever you want me to do. Katrina, here would be at your service too."
"Get lost," I growled.
"Boss?" She asked to confirm if she heard correctly.
"I said get lost!" I said with a low but dangerous tone, and she immediately rushed outside.
I looked back at my clients, and they looked in shock, especially Mike. I wondered why he looked more shocked than the others.
Nevermind, I'll make sure to make that wretch that dare splash that drink on me. I never imagined getting a drink splashed on my face on the first day in my club, by my worker, and in front of my client. I felt humiliated, and I promised to make that server feel the same.
Later, after calming myself, I decided to stay, not because I was enjoying the company of the girl the manager sent to entertain me but more because my gaze was stuck on a mysterious girl who walked to the pole and earned applause from the VIPs. The room dimmed, and her clothes glowed in the dark.
Mike looked excited, and I couldn't tell why until she started moving to the beat slowly and sensually. Her provocative dress didn't help the tension her dance was creating, and I found myself staring and wondering, just who was she?
This was the first time I got curious about the other gender, however the lady in this case seemed to deserve my curiosity. Later, more dancers came and started dancing seductively, though she outshone them with just a move of her hips.
I turned and whispered to my assistant. "Find out who she is quickly," I said.
Everybody gasped when someone pushed her off the stage in a painful way. The dance ended, and the light became dim enough to make it hard to see what happened next. A new set came in to distract everyone.
(Daniel's POV)A series of sighs escaped my lips as I kept staring at the phone in my hand without blinking. I've been staring at the screen for more than fifteen minutes now, waiting patiently for just a call. Just what was I thinking? This was so unlike me.I could hardly believe that I was waiting for her call, and I found it rather disturbing to know that she could call off the agreement whenever she pleases to.This was crazy, but I've thought about it carefully and thoroughly throughout the day she offered the proposal.Marriage…It sounded easy, but I knew how complicated it was, especially if it wasn't something we both would equally agree on. What was the main reason I wanted this and was even bothered about her calling it off? I wondered. But then my clients were getting impatient and very soon they would get tired and ask for the papers of the land to be reassured about the rightful owner. That alone was enough to tell the trouble that would follow they found out I wasn't w
(Rachael POV)His lips were on my neck and I could feel them moving sensually on my neck. I gasped, and my feet dug into the sheets. What was this feeling? But before I could dwell on them, I heard a hoarse voice whispering close to my ear.“You smell familiar,” he whispered.I bit my lips to stop the sound that threatened to come out. “What are you-” I gasped when his hand moved upwards. It crawled its way from my stomach to my breast and palmed it. The feeling that came with it was unexplainable, and I haven't felt that all through my years on this earth. He bit my neck, enough to cause a hickey. I was starting to enjoy the feeling when something stopped me. It was my senses, telling me how stupid I was behaving and as if I got back my strength that was lost beneath this strange man, I used it to push him off me, but he wouldn't bulge. Oh! No. There has to be a way, I can't let this happen. I started searching for different alternatives and finally, my instincts came to perform thei
(Rachael POV)I could hear their voices from behind me. My feet felt weak and my heart heavy for an unknown reason. I kept stepping on my toes as I ran and fell. I could hear their footsteps that reverberated behind me. They were getting closer, and somehow I could feel the breath of terror that stood at the end of all this. The more I ran, the more breathless I became and it became so hard to breathe, my hands turned cold and my head hurt, it was as if the world was spinning around me.I felt the hard ground and the branches that bruised my skin as I let myself fall. My half closed eyes threatened to drop at any moment. I managed to still lift my gaze, but suddenly the place changed, and it was like I was back in my home where my father died. My father!I looked around and saw his body on the floor. Blood gushed out from his head. I heard a tapping sound and my eyes searched for it while I still laid on the floor in the same position. They landed on a hand that kept tapping the armre
(Regina POV)He smirked, and I could sense the mischievousness behind it as he nodded his head.“But what if I don't agree to it?” He asked with a daring smile on his face.I raised my chin. “Then we would have no choice but to tell the press about how you killed our people out of selfishness. You killed innocent souls just because you so badly wanted a building in the land we feed from.”“Press? Building? Innocent?” He chuckled. “You really have yourself believing in those crabs. Do you think your people are innocent? I almost forgot the shenanigan you pulled last time and how you caused me a scar.”“If I did, then it is a shame that it cleared so easily, besides that's why they call it a scar. Do you really think we had a choice? You came in here on short notice just to tell us to relocate to nowhere in particular, and then you went ahead to take it by force, just so you can build a huge and mighty tower on this land.”His gaze darkened as I continued, but I failed to notice it beca
(Regina's POV)My hands were shaking as I waited for them patiently until they reached, and thankfully the man I spoke to earlier came down with some men. They looked around with expressionless faces. They were bulky, and their expressionless faces were reducing my confident, but I tried to remain calm since this was the only way out.“Good day sir?” I said, trying to get his attention as he became busy with his men.“Good day miss…” he trailed off and waited for me to complete it.“Regina,” I said almost immediately. He nodded, smiling amusingly. “So how can I be of help, miss Regina?”I gulped and looked around. “I was hoping to talk to you more calmly than last time.”“Of course… So?”“Umm… I,” I looked around with a confused look. I was trying to fix the words in a more polite way. “I want to speak to your boss,” I said and sighed. He was taken aback but nodded. “I'm uncertain if I can say the same for my boss because he hates getting annoyed.”I nodded my head while making a ment
(Daniel POV)A sigh escaped from my lips when I stared at myself in the mirror. The scar wasn't visible like before, and that was a relief. I didn't have to cover it up or hear the unnecessary complaints that my mother has to offer to my poor ears. She was more upset than I was over the issue, insisting that I get someone to beat them up. It was a bad idea, and I just shrugged every time.I got dressed and just when I wanted to step out, my phone rang. I reached for it in my pocket.“Hello?” I impatiently waited for the person's response.“Daniel,” a manly voice called from the other side.“Mr Williams?” I frowned. Why was he calling me this early?“I watched the news,” he beamed.“As expected,” I rolled my eyes upwards.“Are you sure about what you said? Or you just want to give false hope? You know I hate false promises.”Not again and definitely not today. “What do you mean?” I asked, even though I was quite aware of what he meant and was trying to emphasize.“I'm just saying that
