Scarlett’s Pov

He blinked, looking surprised. “Sorry?”

“I am coming.” I repeated.

“I am your Luna, Killian. Every Alpha attending that gathering will have their Luna beside them. If you walk in with a Beta’s daughter instead of me, what exactly do you think that says about Silver Moon?” I let that sit for a second. “And from what you said, the Lycan King Dominic will be there this year. I am sure he would find it very interesting.”

Killian’s expression shifted. I watched him think it through, weigh it, and arrive at the only conclusion that served him.

“You are right,” he said. “You will come with me.”

Tiffany opened her mouth. Killian looked at her and she closed it.

“What about me, Killian?” she finally managed.

“Sit at home, Tiffany,” he said, and turned back to me.

The Spring Gathering was exactly as I heard it’ll be. it.

The Valley Wolf pack’s grand hall was loud and filled with different celebrities and all the Alphas from different packs brought their Luna.

Killian had barely finished greeting me at the door before he went off and started socializing with other Alphas. I stood with a glass of champagne and watched as everyone was buzzing and spreading fake news.

“Did you hear?” A Luna nearby was practically buzzing. “The Lycan King is here tonight. Dominic actually came to the Spring Gathering.”

“I know, I have been looking everywhere for him,” another woman beside her said. “They say he is incredibly handsome. I just want to see him in person at least once.”

“I heard the same thing,” the third woman chimed in. “Nobody has ever seen him in person. They say he is the wealthiest and most powerful werewolf alive and every seat on the council answers to him. The entire country runs through his hands and nobody even knows what he looks like.”

Dominic? Who’s that?. I repeated the name over in my head. I’ve heard it before in passing but never paid much attention. Killian beside me had gone very still, his eyes scanning the room and murmuring something like he was rehearsing a speech.

Then something, well someone pushed me from the side. I already knew before I turned around, it was the bane of my entire existence.

Tiffany!

She stood beside Killian, squeezing herself between us and grabbing his arm with both hands.

“Killian, I was so worried about you. I just had to come and make sure you were alright.” She pressed herself close to him, her voice dropping into something soft and sweet. To her anyway. To me it just sounded annoying.

Killian’s expression went through several things in a few seconds before landing on that helpless look he always had for her, somewhere between annoyed and completely unable to say no.

Tiffany looked slowly over her shoulder at me, and then a smug smile appeared on her lip.

I picked up a fresh glass of champagne from a passing tray and walked away to find better company.

I moved through the room quietly, listening more than I spoke. Every conversation I slipped into told me something useful, who was aligned with who, which packs were struggling, which Alphas were looking for new alliances. I did not offer my name or my position. I just listened, asked careful questions and filed everything away.

Then someone shouted in surprise. “Moonlight Pack….!” The man was staring down at his phone. Then simultaneously everyone started turning on their phones. “They found their long-lost Alpha heiress. It is official, they just released the announcement.”

The news spread faster than I could track it. Within minutes every phone in the room was lit up and the conversations had changed entirely. Moonlight was one of the most powerful packs in the region, blessed directly by the Moon Goddess, their Alpha bloodline carrying natural healing abilities that no other pack could match. Finding their lost heiress was not a small thing. Every Alpha in that room immediately started calculating what a relationship with Moonlight could do for them.

“I actually know her.” Tiffany’s voice cut through the noise nearby. “The heiress and I have been close friends for years. Very close.”

The crowd around her shifted immediately, people turning toward her, trying to get closer.

I took a slow sip of my champagne. Tiffany, close friends with the Moonlight heir? I had lived with this woman for years and the most adventurous thing she had ever done was pick a new shade of lipstick. The audacity was almost impressive.

“That is interesting,” I said loud enough so everyone heard. “Since when?”

Tiffany turned to look at me, her smile tightening slightly. “Excuse me?”

“Since when have you been close friends with the Moonlight heir?” I kept my voice completely even. “I am just asking because I have known you for years and I have never once heard you mention her.”

“You spend all your time in a lab like a lab rat,” Tiffany said, her voice sharpening. “What would you possibly know about anything?”

A few people laughed quietly while others watched with interest.

“You are right, I do not get out much,” I said. “So help me understand. Moonlight members carry very specific markings that identify them. Every pack member has one. Do you happen to know where the Alpha heir’s mark is?”

Tiffany did not miss a beat. “On the back of her neck. Everyone knows that.”

Murmurs of agreement moved through the crowd. People nodded. I saw a few looks thrown my way that said clearly I had overstepped.

Then someone stepped out from the back of the crowd.

Usher walked forward calmly, hands clasped behind his back, and stopped a few feet from Tiffany and looked at her, he didn’t interact with me just as we agreed earlier.

“I am Beta Usher of the Moonlight Pack,” he said to the room. “And she is lying.” He turned to address the crowd directly. “Every Moonlight member does carry a moon mark, that part is correct. But the Alpha bloodline mark sits on the shoulder, not the neck, and it is surrounded by roses. That is not common knowledge outside of Moonlight.” He looked back at Tiffany. “Claiming friendship with our heiress is an offense against the pack.”

The crowd had gone very quiet now.

Tiffany’s face was full of anger.

“And who the fuck are you exactly?” she demanded. “Moonlight members barely appear in public. You come out of nowhere claiming to be a Beta and I am supposed to just accept that?” She turned to the nearest guard. “Remove him.”

But nobody moved.

Then Alpha James, host of the Spring Gathering and head of the Valley Wolf Pack, stepped forward from the crowd. Tiffany’s shoulders relaxed slightly, clearly expecting him to handle it.

James walked straight past her and stopped in front of Usher.

“Beta Usher.” He extended his hand with full respect. “It has been too long.”

The silence that followed was magnificent, if a pin dropped that moment it’d have echoed.

Tiffany was frozen.

Usher shook James’s hand and then turned back to Tiffany, his voice leaving no room for argument.

“Apologize,” he said, pointing at me. “To this Luna and to me.”

Tiffany spun toward Killian. “Killian, are you going to let them speak to me like this?”

Killian looked at me. “Scarlett, you know Tiffany did not mean any harm. She gets carried away sometimes. Can you let this go?”

I looked at him for a long moment.

“No,” I said. “I want her apology.”

  • Rebirth Of The Wolfless Heiress   Chapter 42

Scarlett’s POV The doorbell rang. Dominic was still close enough that I could feel the warmth coming off him, his mouth a breath away from my ear, the sentence he had started was hanging unfinished in the air between us. “Ignore it,” he said, low, and his hands moved to my face tilting my jaw, he leaned in to press a kiss on my lips when the doorbell rang a second time. Then came three loud knocks. Dominic pulled back. He looked toward the door. Then he looked at me and whatever was in his expression he took back before I could read it properly and he straightened up and walked to the door. “Who is disturbing my peace?" He groaned as he turned the handle of the door open and leaned against the frame with one arm raised against it.” “Ohhh, hi Dom.” A woman’s voice, easy and light like she had not just almost brought down the doors a few seconds back. I watched Dominic’s posture shift. Just slightly. He straightened and repositioned himself creating a small distance between him

  • Rebirth Of The Wolfless Heiress   Chapter 41

Scarlett’s POV Ding!! Ding!! Ding!! “Let me have it,” I said. Dominic stretched his hand out and passed me the phone without a word. I looked at the screen, it was Killian. Seventeen messages in the space of one minute. “What time did he use in typing all this?” I said under my breathe. I scrolled without opening any of them and got the full idea of what the content of the texts were about in four seconds. You’re with another man? How could you Scarlett it’s only been less than a month. Who is he. Who was that man. Scarlett. Scar. Answer me. Answer me right now you promiscuous— The messages kept dropping as I read, little notification bubbles stacking at the bottom of the screen one after another like he was sitting somewhere with both thumbs going and absolutely nothing else to occupy his afternoon. I read the last one twice. Then I put the phone face down on my knee and sat there for a second and thought about my previous life where I would have read those messages a

Killian’s POVI pushed the door open without knocking and walked straight into Tiffany. She was at her desk with her back straight and her legs crossed and a file open in front of her like she had been sitting there waiting for exactly this, which she probably had.The necklace box was in my hand. The flowers were under my arm. I put both down on the side table by the door and looked at her.“It is one thing for Scarlett to leave,” I started. “Now Mira? All because of you?”Tiffany did not look up from the file. She turned a page of the book she had in her hands. “Hey.” I walked further into the room. “Tiffany. What did you do to Mira for her to leave, I’m talking to you.”She looked up then. Slowly, the way she did when she wanted you to know she was unbothered. “Mira?”“Yes. Mira? Do you remember the name? I waved my hands across her face. The head of the lab floor that now looks like nobody has been in it for a week.”She shrugged one shoulder and looked back down. “She left.”“Sh

Killian’s POVThe door was still wide open.Helena did not close it when she left and neither did I. I watched from the doorway until I could not see them anymore, Tiffany’s voice cutting off somewhere down the driveway as Helena dragged her out by the hair, going from loud to nothing in about forty seconds. Then I went and sat down. There was not much else I could do. I knew that about Helena before I knew most other things. When she got like that she was not a woman you reasoned with or stepped in front of or called back. She was a wall that moved and the right thing to do was get out of its way and let the storm pass. Any man who thought differently had not seen her in that particular state. I had seen her in that particular state more times than I could count. So I sat and let out a huge sigh of relief.“It will sort itself out,” I said to myself. “Things like this always sort themselves out. Tiffany is not stupid. Helena is not permanently unreasonable. By tomorrow everything wil

  • Rebirth Of The Wolfless Heiress   Chapter 38

Scarlett’s POV “What the fuck, it’s been such a weird day, honestly.” I said it to the bathroom ceiling, to nobody, to the general situation of my entire life, I ran my hands through my hair as the water ran hot into the tub in front of me. This was so weird. This was genuinely, objectively, completely weird and I needed a moment to think. I stood there and just looked around. The bathroom alone was bigger than the entire lab I had spent three years of my life in. Everything was marble and glass and soft gold fittings and the kind of lighting that made you feel like you were being filmed for something. A towel rack that was clearly heated. A mirror that ran the entire length of one wall without a single seam. A small shelf beside the door before you even stepped fully inside, holding two chilled bottles of champagne sitting in a little ice bucket like this was a five star hotel and not a man’s private bathroom. I looked at the champagne for a long moment, then looked at the bath

  • Rebirth Of The Wolfless Heiress   Chapter 37

Dominic’s POV I pulled back from her slowly. My shirt was slightly wrinkled where her hands had been. I didn’t look down at myself, I already knew. I stood there for a second, cleared my throat and fixed my collar. Then my shirt. I noticed another situation a little further south, lower down in my trousers. I dipped my hand inside my pants and adjusted the mini me down there and took a long quiet breath. “Get it together. You are a king and not a teenager and this is not the time.” I said to myself. I opened the door. The girl standing in the corridor was one of my house staff, assigned to the main wing. Young, maybe nineteen or twenty at most. She was clutching a small notepad flat against her chest with both hands and the moment my eyes landed on her she dropped into a bow so fast and so deep I almost felt something close to pity. “King Dominic,” she said, her voice coming out slightly strangled. “Speak.” She lifted her head but didn’t fully straighten. Her eyes found a s

Scarlett’s Pov Tiffany’s apology came out like it physically hurt her to produce. “I am sorry, Scarlett. I should not have said those things.” She looked me dead in the eye the entire time she said it, smiling with her mouth while everything else on her face promised we were far from done. I hel

Scarlett’s Pov When I opened my eyes again, the sunlight was so bright I had to squint. I looked around and realized I was back in Silver Moon’s Alpha residence, Killian’s house. Scarlett’s POV “Luna Scarlett, I am sorry. We’ve already administered the maximum dosage but your heart continues to fail. Scarlett’s Pov The lab was quiet and empty when I arrived, exactly how I liked it. I had converted the office into my workspace months ago and it still smelled like fresh wood and chemicals that had not yet been used to their full potential. I pulled up my research files on the computer and
