Chapter 15

“Open the door.” When Su Kexin still refused to reply, Gu Chi spoke again outside the door. “You dropped something.”

Dropped something?

Su Kexin’s confused thoughts were finally cut short. After some hesitation, Su Kexin finally walked to the bathroom door and slowly opened it a creak.

Before long, Gu Chi’s well-defined hand reached in, holding a soft and white towel.

Su Kexin was instantly stunned.

“You came out here to look for this, right?” Outside the door, Gu Chi’s tone sounded somewhat amused. Inside, Su Kexin felt her face burn up.

“Thanks,” Su Kexin said hurriedly, grabbing the towel in an instant and closing the door after.

When Su Kexin emerged from the bathroom, wearing her nightclothes, Gu Chi had already changed into dark blue silk pajamas. He was sitting in the bed with a laptop on his lap, typing something quickly.

Su Kexin was once more confused.

Since Gu Chi’s legs were not working very well, she had thought that he would have plenty of servants helping him out with his daily activities. However, Uncle Wang and Aunt Zhang were the only ones in the house, and he did not have any personal attendants at all.

Now, for example, how did he get into bed on his own?

Also, did he not need to bathe?

“Um…” She could not help but ask, “Don’t you need to bathe?”

“I already did,” Gu Chi replied simply.

Su Kexin had been worried that it would not be convenient for him to bathe on his own, but now he was telling her that he had already bathed?

Wait, if he was bathing somewhere else and not at home, did that mean he had another woman out there?

Su Kexin’s mind was going crazy, but to be honest, even if Gu Chi did have a mistress, she was not unduly bothered.

Su Kexin walked to the study desk to arrange the things she needed to bring to work tomorrow, but then she suddenly saw the ring she had taken off before bathing. It made her pause.

She had almost forgotten all about this wedding ring she had bought.

When she bought the rings earlier, she had no idea that her husband was a mighty president worth hundreds of billions. That was why she bought the simplest design.

Now that she thought about it, though, this ring was just too simple and unseemly for Gu Chi.

With that in mind, Su Kexin glanced at Gu Chi and saw that his attention was fully focused on his work. She then stuffed her ring back into her bag and took the box from her bag, the one with the ring she had meant to give to Gu Chi, casually tossing it into her dresser’s drawer.

Once that was done, Su Kexin finally crawled into bed.

To Su Kexin’s relief, the bed was extremely spacious, and there were two sets of covers and pillows. Gu Chi lay on one side and Su Kexin lay on the other, with almost half a meter between them.

“Are you done with your shower?” When Su Kexin lay down next to him, Gu Chi asked her calmly, though his eyes remained fixed on the screen.

“Yeah,” Su Kexin replied softly. She could not help but glance at Gu Chi’s screen.

Su Kexin knew that Gu Chi’s company was mainly involved in funds and bonds, and the screen was covered with red and green lines and graphs. Su Kexin did not understand it, so she decided not to try.

“Shall we sleep now?” Gu Chi said suddenly, turning his head to give Su Kexin a glance.

“Sure.”

Gu Chi soon turned the lamp on the bedside table off.

The room turned dark.

Actually, until now, she still could not tell why she married Gu Chi.

As the seconds ticked by, she fell into a deep sleep.

Early the next morning.

Su Kexin’s phone alarm rang, and she got up, only to see that Gu Chi was gone from her side.

She quickly freshened up, did her makeup, and went downstairs.

As soon as she reached the stairwell, Su Kexin could already smell the aroma of breakfast.

Aunt Wang was busy serving up the dishes when she caught sight of Su Kexin, her face splitting into a kind smile. “You’re up, Young Madam. Come on, have some breakfast.”

Su Kexin walked to the dining table and saw the breakfast spread on the table.

Aunt Wang had prepared a traditional Chinese breakfast with a variety of delicate foods. There were soup dumplings, potstickers, and freshly-ground soy milk.

Gu Chi was already at the dining table, holding a newspaper in one hand and casually picking up his cup with the other, bringing it to his mouth.

When Su Kexin’s gaze fell on his well-defined hand, she suddenly froze.
