I was surprised to get a frantic call from Diya asking for my help. She told me she was in danger and she was afraid of her husband. I did not know what happened, but she said she had something important to tell me too.

I didn’t know what to expect, and I realized I had left without a second thought. My heart skipped as I thought of Elisa and Thomas accusing me of being in love with her. I wasn’t in love. She was in danger and she needed my help. Period. I wouldn't help her if she asked.

I had talked to Elisa, who seemed happy when I told her I had to leave for a day or two. I lied about going to Tanzania to give Mike’s family my condolences.
