Callista’s POV

I never expected rejection to taste this bitter.

I knew Mattias might resist. After all, choosing a Luna is never simple — especially when the pack’s bloodline, alliances, and tradition are involved. But I believed I was the answer. The future he should accept. The future the council has carefully crafted.

Instead, I was brushed aside like a bothersome shadow.

Not because I lack grace or refinement. I have both in abundance. Not because I lack lineage or influence, my bloodline is as strong and noble as any at Black Rock. Not because I’m not capable… I was raised to lead, trained in politics, diplomacy, and the subtle arts of persuasion.

No.

Mattias dismissed me.

Coldly.

Without hesitation.

And the source of his rejection? A woman who walks into the pack without titles or noble blood. An omega. An orphan.

Anna.

And the child she carries.

The fact that she remains, unbroken, unbowed — standing in the center of Black Rock’s shifting tides — enrages me more than any insult

  • You rejected your Luna: One Chance is all you Get.    CHAPTER 49

Anna's POV It had only been a day since I considered running away. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Mattias would eventually send his men after me and they would bring me back before I could enter another pack… It would be pointless; I would be ridiculed.I just remained in my room, hoping for the best. That was when Richard walked in uninvited, again.I should’ve known something was off the moment he handed me the envelope. No eye contact. No explanation. Just a tight-lipped expression and a cold, “You’ll be delivering this to Alpha Holt of the Eastwood Pack. Be quick.”That was it. No escort. No car. No concern. My eyes remained on the envelope in my hand, trying to keep my expression in check, trying to hide his much I wanted to throw it at him. But I don't do so. I only nodded in acknowledgement and he left my room without saying anything else. Even after everything, a fraction of me still believed not provoking them was the better option. That if I kept fulfilling tasks

  • You rejected your Luna: One Chance is all you Get.    CHAPTER 48

Anna's POV The silence is louder now. Not the comfortable kind that once meant understanding, but the aching kind that drags on—longer with each passing hour. The kind that settles into the bones, cold and sharp and impossible to shake off.Mattias hasn’t come. Not once. Not to check on me. Not to speak. Not to even look at me across a room full of strangers.I’ve run out of excuses to make for him. At first, I told myself he was busy—leading, protecting, solving things I wasn’t allowed to understand. Then I thought maybe he needed space. Time. Something wounded between us trying to heal. But now… now I don’t know anymore. All I know is I’m alone. And I’m tired.More tired than I should be, maybe. Everything hurts faster these days—foot pains, back aches, my body refusing to accept certain types of food. The occasional baby kicks, serving as a reminder—that it wasn't just me. I folded a sweater and placed it inside a bag. One of the smaller ones. I don’t have much here that’s truly

  • You rejected your Luna: One Chance is all you Get.    CHAPTER 47

Anna's POV There’s a strange sort of quiet that comes after you’ve exhausted yourself trying. It’s not peaceful. Not even stillness. As if being in a room but yet the people around couldn't see you.I felt that way. Heavy. It’s not just physical tiredness. It’s in my chest. In my shoulders and throat. Especially unspoken weighted words.I sat up, using my palms as support. The room’s cold again. Someone opened the window during the night, probably one of the staff tasked with “airing out” the quarters. The kind of small gesture that’s supposed to help but never really does.I closed it without a word. The breeze shifting the curtain from side to side— making them wave a 'goodbye'. Which feels… fitting.I don’t bother dressing for the day. Not yet. I’m not expecting anyone. And I doubt anyone is expecting me — not really. Not unless it’s to clean up after myself or prove that I still belong in this house. This pack.I’ve been trying. I think that’s what stings most. That I have been

  • You rejected your Luna: One Chance is all you Get.    CHAPTER 46

Anna's POV It started with a knock. Not firm. Not gentle. Just… deliberate. Its sound felt like words, as though it was saying, “I'm not here to converse, just to be present.”I didn't give an immediate answer. My hands were still wet after I had washed my face in the basin. I took a towel and dried them calmly. I already knew who it was on the other side of the door. He was the only one who would knock with such audacity—as if he was the one in command. With a long sigh, I walked over to the door and opened it. As expected Richard stood there with his hands behind him. He didn't smile but it seems he was trying to hide his inner expression. “Anna,” he said, his voice smooth like oil. “It's good I met you.”I didn’t speak immediately. I just waited for him to say whatever useless thing that always came out of his mouth. He didn't feel the slightest unease for the silence inside; he made his way into the threshold like it was his own room. “There’s to be a communal dinner this eve

  • You rejected your Luna: One Chance is all you Get.    CHAPTER 45

Mattias's POVThe walls of my study have never felt this tight.I’ve paced this room a hundred times before—after meetings, before war councils, when the weight of the pack starts pressing too hard on my chest. But tonight, it’s different. The shadows feel deeper. The silence louder.Anna’s scent still lingers faintly. A reminder. A ghost.I lean against the desk and exhale, forcing my eyes shut.I shouldn’t have let our encounter end that way, I should have spelt things out. That she wasn’t the reason I didn't go further. It was me.It was everything else.I wanted her. Hell, I still do. I reminisced each moment with her—our kiss, the small kick in her womb when I placed my hand over her belly. The way we have into each other on sight.Yet, I couldn’t claim her.Not like this. Not with doubt clouding her eyes. Not with the pack whispering about Callista, like she was already seated beside me at the Luna table. Not with Richard breathing down my neck, calling my heart a weakness and A

  • You rejected your Luna: One Chance is all you Get.    CHAPTER 44

Anna’s POVThe halls are too quiet at night. Still and heavy, like they’re holding their breath.I couldn’t sleep, not really. I tried, tossing and turning for what felt like hours. My mind wouldn’t settle. Every time I closed my eyes, it was the same thing, images of Mattias and Callista, their horses riding off side by side. Her smug little smirk, that wink. The way his back didn’t turn once.So I got up. No real plan. I just wanted to move and breathe. It was cold outside. I wrapped my arms around me like spaghetti and I took careful steps so I wouldn't disturb anyone. Midway through the corridor, I heard something like a conversation between two low voices. I freeze before I even mean to.It’s Richard. I recognized that calm, composed cadence in it. And the other voice—softer, a little playful—is Callista.I felt unease welling up inside.I moved closer to the corner silently to remain undetected. I wasn't supposed to get involved but my curiosity was fueling my actions. shouldn’
