Chapter 5

Author: Morning Tree
"Look! Guess who this is!" Michael called out with excitement.

Colin lifted his head, his face showing confusion. But when his eyes landed on the small, delicate figure standing nearby, his expression froze in shock. His eyes widened, and with hurried, increasingly larger strides, he rushed forward and pulled her into a tight embrace.

"See? I wasn't exaggerating! Isn't this an amazing surprise?" Michael said proudly.

"Y-Yes... It really is… Olivia…" Colin whispered, clutching her as tears rolled down his face. I had never seen him this emotional before, and for a moment, I was stunned.

"I'll leave you two lovebirds to enjoy your reunion!" Michael said with a playful grin before leaving.

"Olivia, you're alive? I can't believe it! This is incredible!" Colin exclaimed, his voice trembling.

"I missed you so much, Colin," Olivia murmured softly, resting her head against his chest. "I was so scared... I was scared I'd never see you again."

In reality, Olivia had never ventured deep into the nature reserve. Someone had warned her about the wild animals, mentioning how awful it would be to die that way. Being vain and obsessed with her looks, Olivia naturally changed her mind and decided not to risk it.

Of course, she did not tell Colin the truth. Instead, she clung to him and whispered tearfully, "Colin, when I got there, all I could think about was you.

"The thought of never seeing you again terrified me. I regretted everything. I don't want to die—I just want to stay by your side, even if Norah hates me forever."

Colin was deeply moved by her emotional confession, his eyes brimming with affection. He held her even tighter, and the two stood there like star-crossed lovers, reunited at last.

Olivia was back, but what about Joey? My child was not coming back, and my entire world had crumbled to pieces.

Joey and I had been innocent, yet we were the ones who suffered. I could not help but wonder why Olivia got to live while Joey and I had to die.

Joey had not even had the chance to truly see the world. I silently screamed at the heavens, "Why? Why did you take everything from me?"

Colin led Olivia into a private room, and through the crack in the door, I saw them kissing and embracing as if no one else existed. Their passion grew, and Colin's hands moved to remove her clothing. His bloodshot eyes darkened with desire, but suddenly, he stopped.

He hesitated, his voice low and gentle. "Olivia, you've been through so much. You should rest."

I almost laughed bitterly at the absurdity of it. Even at that moment, he managed to stop himself. It was laughable.

Then, I heard him make a phone call. "Let Norah out of the cave. Olivia's back now."

So, he did remember I existed—barely. However, even that only seemed to happen after he had fulfilled his precious Olivia's every need.

There was a pause on the line before Colin asked, "How is she?"

Suddenly, the voice on the other end changed. It was Kyle, who had apparently rushed back to check on me.

"Mr. Shaw, please, I'm begging you! Let Mrs. Shaw go! She's already dead! Isn't that enough?"

I instinctively replied, "Yes, I'm done."A man in a white robe appeared behind me like a ghost and said, "Congratulations, Ms. Martinez. Because of your kind nature, your soul is pure. From now on, you can join the direct department of the underworld."Then, I realized that I was also a ghost. I excitedly circled around him and asked, "Are you White Enforcer? What about Black Enforcer? Where is he?""Who's Black Enforcer? I don't know anyone by that name.""The one dressed in black, your colleague," I pressed on, curious."Sorry, all my colleagues wear white. No one wears black. And you, Norah, will be wearing a white uniform too."He looked at me seriously and added, "My name is White Sentinel, not White Enforcer! Now, follow me.""But—""No buts."When I suddenly stopped in my tracks, he turned around and glanced at me. He asked, "What's wrong? Don't waste my time, Ms. Martinez.""Will all the people who died become your colleagues? I mean..."White Sentinel replied, "Oh,

Without wasting any time, Colin shoved the rag back into their mouths and dragged them into the bedroom, like he was hauling dead dogs.In the bedroom, several barrels of gasoline were set up. I could not believe my eyes as I finally realized that he was going to burn them alive. My adoptive parents also realized the danger and struggled desperately, but it was useless. At that moment, I finally saw just how strong Colin was. He threw them on the floor, splashed gasoline around them, and, with terror in their eyes, he dropped a match by the door. With a loud boom, the fire erupted, roaring to life. As the flames raged behind him, Colin slowly stepped out of the villa, muttering, "These are the last two. Everyone who ever hurt you has paid for their sins, Norah. Do you see it?"He added, "Oh wait, there's one more. Don't worry, Norah, he'll be joining them soon."A chill ran down my spine when I heard those words. Afterward, Colin sped back to our home, Riverside Villa. In my bedr

Colin gripped the steering wheel with one hand and dialed a phone number with the other. As soon as the call connected, he asked, "Hello? Is everything ready? Where are they?" The person replied, "Everything's ready. They're at the villa on the west side of town.""Got it."After he hung up, I could see a fire burning in his eyes, though I had no idea who that fire was meant for. Soon enough, I found out. The villa in the west was my parents' house—no, my adoptive parents' house. It was laughable that I did not know the truth about why I was never really loved until Colin pulled out the paternity test. It turned out I was not their biological child at all. It was such a twisted joke. I still had no idea what Colin planned to do to them.Once we entered the villa, the first thing I saw was my adoptive parents tied up and struggling against their restraints. When they saw Colin enter, they desperately twisted their bodies, hoping he would notice them and release them. But of co

Colin drove back to the familiar, dark, gloomy warehouse—only this time, there was a hidden room. Colin dragged Olivia in, forcefully pushing her into the small, locked room."No, no! I'm afraid of the dark! Please let me out!" Olivia screamed, pounding on the door frantically. No one could hear her except for Colin, standing outside. He sneered, "Heh! You're afraid of the dark? Wasn't Norah afraid of it too?"He continued, "I just want you to experience what Norah went through. Can't handle it, huh? Then why did you let Norah go through it?"Olivia slammed against the door, her hands bruising, clearly terrified. "Enough! Enough! Let me out! I wasn't doing it on purpose! I was just going along with things!""Yes! You were just going along with things, and I'm the one who truly killed Norah! Don't worry, once I'm done with you, I'll make things right with Norah!" Colin laughed bitterly, his face twisting into a cruel grin.He added, "But Olivia, what you're experiencing is just th

Colin shouted, "No way! How could I marry such a disgusting woman!" It finally hit Olivia that Colin was behind this, and she exclaimed, "It's you, Colin! You did this!""Yes, it's me! I wanted everyone to know your true colors!" Colin looked at her as though she were something filthy. He was filled with repulsion. He continued, "Your parents switched you at birth with Norah. You've enjoyed all the wealth and status from the Martinez family, and had the love of two parents. But that wasn't enough, was it? "You also had to bully Norah! Beneath that pretty face is a heart that is utterly vile—you bullied your classmates, slept around, and even slandered Joey, claiming the child wasn't mine. You bribed people to push her toward death! You're truly wicked!"Olivia yelled, "Shut up! Aren't you the one who really killed her?"Ethan and Hazel suddenly rushed onto the stage, grabbing Colin's hands. They asked desperately, "Did you say Norah is our child? Is that true?"Colin replied,

At the Riverview Villa, a grand engagement party was being held. Since I had moved into the villa, I had never seen such an extravagant event. Guests flooded in, and reporters with cameras did not even know which big shot to focus on. Meanwhile, Olivia stood at the center of the stage, dressed in a stunning gown, looking every bit like a princess. She said, "Thank you all for coming to our engagement party. Please enjoy our love story."My parents, along with Olivia's, immediately clapped their hands. They cheered, "Olivia, you're the most beautiful girl ever! We wish you the best for your marriage!"Olivia blushed and looked sweetly shy, while Colin stood beside her, looking indifferent. It was as if he was not the groom.Scenes began flashing on the big screen, and the guests immediately started whispering among themselves."My God! Is that really Olivia? She's so evil!""Not only did she secretly bully her classmates, but she was dating so many guys at once!""I can't belie

"Did you hear that, Norah? This is the first person I've gotten rid of for you." Colin gently stroked the ribbon; his expression was twisted. I could hardly believe Colin had become so consumed by madness.Similar news stories filled the TV from various channels—car accidents, fires, electrocutions, and falls into rivers. Each piece of news followed by the loss of one more life, all those who had once guarded me in the cave.I coldly followed Colin, watching as he carefully tidied himself, becoming as sharp and polished as ever, his charm intact. He stood outside Olivia's room and said, "Olivia, Norah and I are divorced now. Here's our divorce certificate."He placed two certificates right in front of Olivia. I saw Olivia's lips curl into a sneer, but then she quickly ran into Colin's arms, smiling sweetly, "That's amazing! Colin! Now we can be together forever!"Colin shoved her away with disgust, but spoke gently, "That's great, Olivia. I've decided we'll have a grand engageme

"Hey... I've arranged everything. You'll be well compensated," Colin said coldly as he hung up the phone, his gaze fixed on the bare tree trunks outside the window. The people in the villa were still asleep, but Colin drove off alone. I did not know where he was going, but I followed him closely. Soon, he arrived at a dark, gloomy warehouse.A person was tied to a chair inside. I focused and realized it was my first bodyguard, the one who had run away when I'd died. He probably thought I smelled too bad.Colin picked up an iron rod and, without saying a word, smashed all ten of the bodyguard's fingers. The man screamed in pain, but his mouth was covered, so he could only sweat profusely. After smashing his fingers and toes, Colin took a rag out and slowly began his next actions. He shouted, "Tell me! Why didn't we hear Norah's cries for help?"The bodyguard gritted his teeth and refused to speak, but Colin threatened him, "A human body has 206 bones. How many do you think I can br

  • Your Turn to Repent   Chapter 12

"Olivia came back from abroad, and Colin was so happy...""Olivia visited the Shaw family, and Colin actually skipped work to come back...""Olivia needed a driver, and Colin went. When Olivia drank too much, Colin went to pick her up...""Olivia said she didn't like kids, so Colin stopped holding Joey. Joey cried for his dad...""Colin...""I'm tired... I'm letting go..."From the excitement of young love to the coldness that followed, my diary had witnessed all my thoughts. Now, those thoughts were all laid out in front of Colin.I saw him holding his face, tears slipping through his fingers as he repeatedly whispered, "Norah, I'm sorry. I know I was wrong; I really was wrong."Nonetheless, Colin knew it was pointless to say all this as I was already long dead and could not listen to any of his apologies. He had not cherished me when I was alive, and now that I was gone, he finally realized his mistakes. It was too late for regret. I was already dead, and even if I could hea
