Zaika's pov
After plucking all the torn fabric out of the claw gashes on his legs I frowned at how damaged his legs were. I told Gallum he needed to get washed up so they didn't get infected. I saw that Sasha was wringing her hands nervously with our father and Boris in my sitting room."I'm certain your dad will come once my father contacts him," I stated firmly to Gallum, placing him into the tub. Narrowing his eyes at me, Gallum exhaled deeply."My father will not care and probably hopes that I am knocking on death's door. You know that he hates me and feels I am unworthy to take over his pack and kingdom," he asserted. Starting the water I rinsed his legs with the removable shower head to rinse the blood and dirt from his skin. Using a washcloth and bar of soap, I scrubbed the areas and apologized if it hurt."Your father is a bit cross but you are his son in appearance and attitude. You both are alike in many ways," I responded as I started up his stomach."Give me the wash rag. I'm not a pup," he snapped when I tried washing his chest. Exhaling deeply I tossed the washcloth at him and handed him the bar of soap. I released the shower head and let it dangle behind his back."Have at it, you ungrateful prick, I'm going to the other room so yell if you need me," I stated sourly. He growled in annoyance. Going to the sitting room Boris walked past me."I'm going to get a shot of the Dire drug for the prince," he growled softly. Nodding I noticed my father on the phone looking nervous."SASHA, MY FLOWER! COME HELP ME!" Gallum shouted from the bathroom causing me to pinch the bridge of my nose in irritation. Sasha was rising from her seat when I glared at her."Don't you dare help that asshole," I said firmly before standing and heading to the prince with clenched fists. Entering the tiled room I heard Gallum's grunt of disappointment."You are not who I requested," he growled bitterly."Tough shit, you don't like it, you are free to leave. Your title doesn't mean a damn thing to me," I stated sarcastically. Flipping me off I chuckled at him and grabbed a towel from the shelf. Noticing his erection I growled low and threw the towel at him."My sister doesn't want nor needs to see your hard dick," I mumbled sourly."You don't know that. It might be just what she craves," he smirked, grabbing his shaft. Thankfully Boris stepped within the doorway before I drowned him in his filthy bath water."Give him the shot so he passes out, Boris," I growled sternly. Gallum presented his arm to Boris without any fuss which was surprising, to say the least. I rested against the wall as I watched the special healing painkiller take its effect. Gallum's eyes rolled back as he drifted to unconsciousness."Finally, he is someone that I can deal with. Hey Boris, would you help me get some clothes on him?" I asked with a hope-filled gaze. When he nodded, I placed the towel over Gallum's privates and lifted him out of the tub. Carrying him back to my bed, Sasha rushed over."I will help wrap his legs with gauze after I put on the antiseptic," She said softly. Moving the towel to cover his softened endowment, I hesitated."He is naked I don't…" Sasha interrupted me with a laugh."I have seen a lot of naked male penises, including both yours and the prince's. We have shifted in front of each other since we were children so don't be such a prude," she replied nonchalantly."She has a valid point," Einar chortled in my mind."Fine, get the items and wrap his legs so I can put a pair of boxers on him," I huffed in agitation. I went to rummage through my dresser while Sasha put the medication on the prince's injured legs. When I returned, she was straddling his legs with the towel to the side and wrapping each of his legs with Boris's aid."His father asked if he could stay here while he recovers. I will have Sasha tend to him with Boris's help while you go off for your training. I don't want you to disappoint Vossler or Bryce. I have informed them that you will leave with them in the morning," Ivan grunted to me. My hellfire sparked along my skin with my jealousy. I certainly didn't want Sasha serving Gallum anything but couldn't anger my father's relation either. It was getting late and I yawned, pulling the shirt over the unconscious prince. Looking at a few gashes on his back I was curious if the demon poison caused his paralysis."The poison is toxic to purebred Dire wolves but depending on the individual it can also warp their genetic construct. That is why the red-haired female was shocked that it didn't affect you not knowing that you are half-demon," Einar growled. I grinned smugly at the information even though he caused me to wonder who my real parents were."I cannot tell you anything about them, they have been taken from my mind as well," Einar informed me regretfully. nodding I went to my closet to pack a duffel bag"At least their genetics helped me, " I surmised Einar and he growled a yes. The exhaustion of the day was getting to me. Standing in the doorway of my closet I yawned again."I need to sleep so clear out, I'm taking the couch," I mumbled sourly. Ivan and Boris nodded and started to leave."Sasha come along and let your brother sleep for his travels tomorrow," Ivan asserted. Sasha ran up to me and hugged my waist."Love you bunny," she said softly and pecked my cheek before turning and following Ivan. Grinning slightly I watched her leave. Once the door shut I sprawled out on the sofa and closed my eyes, falling quickly into a nightmare. I was once again lost in the forest as a child. I raced around searching for I think my real parents. I saw Sasha as her wolf Aspen. Hiding behind a thick tree I closed my eyes in fright. When I opened them she was standing before me like a pure angel. My heart skipped in my chest. She was so beautiful in my young mind. My memories changed to the day I met Gallum. He was getting bullied by two older males until I shot a bolt of hellfire at them. We became close friends afterward. Waking abruptly I saw Bryce standing over me."Rise and shine it's time to go travel to the king's palace," he said softly. Rubbing my eyes as I sat up in the darkness I grunted."I'd like to tell my family goodbye," I stated firmly."They are all still asleep Zaika and my king isn't a patient male so let's not keep him," Bryce asserted, waving for me to move. Standing in my grogginess I went to my desk to take out a pen and paper. Quickly writing a note to Sasha in my dazed state. I told her to wait for me and that I loved her and would think of no one but her. Signing it, I folded it up and told Bryce I would return after delivering my note. He waved me off and told me to hurry. I headed to Sasha's room and tried the door knob. It was locked so I stuffed it underneath the locked door the best I could under the crack. Half the note was inside and half was visible outside."That will have to do," I mumbled sullenly and jogged back to my room. Moving past my bed to get my duffel I didn't notice Gallum's narrowed eyes watching."If you have everything let's go," Bryce growled roughly. I nodded and followed after him. After we both exited my room, the asshole Gallum sat up and walked slowly to my ensuite to urinate with a devious smile on his face.Sasha's pov The sun's rays were shining through my bedroom window when I opened my eyes. Cursing colorfully for oversleeping I jumped quickly from my bed and threw on some jeans and a t-shirt. Putting my hair up quickly in my rush, I didn't bother with shoes. I wanted to make sure Zaika was fed before he left and give him a tight hug. Rushing into the kitchen Hazel eyed me and shook her head. "Zaika is already gone, the king and his men left very early this morning," she informed me. I tilted my head at her in disbelief, feeling my heart drop."He didn't tell me goodbye or even leave me a letter," I mumbled sullenly. Hazel shrugged and brought a tray over to me."Your father wants you to care for the Southern prince so take him his breakfast," she said sternly. Frowning, I took it from her. "You will be in charge of all of his meals until he gets a wheelchair and a room is prepared on this level or he is sent back home," she mumbled. I rolled my eyes as I shuffled slowly back up th
Zaika's povThe air was getting colder the further north our group went. I let my hellfire spark across my bare chest for warmth and Bryce side-eyed me."Are you related to Zurac Volkov?" He questioned curiously. I lifted my palm and the blue energy."I don't believe so. I have no memory of my biological parents or family relatives, sir, "I said firmly and squeezed the hellfire ball in my hand, extinguishing it in my fist. Bryce shook his head and added, "Zurac had an actual fire, not that blue stuff. His daughter Raven had the blue though. Anyway, please just call me Bryce." He gave me a lopsided grin and I nodded. My ears perked up hearing crunching in the distance."It's the reindeer herders or nomads. They leave us alone and we do the same for them." Glancing out across the vast tundra under the morning sun I could make out antlers on the horizon. My thoughts went to Sasha, thinking that she would find the sight stunning."How do you know if one is your mate?" I asked Bryce abrupt
Zaika's pov"Are you going to deny these two lovely females a chance to rock your world?" Vossler inquired bluntly with narrowed yellow eyes. I swallowed uncomfortably and nodded."I am not in the mood to have sex," I mumbled softly. Vossler tilted his head at the females and told them to go so he could speak with me privately. My unease left momentarily until he pushed me into the red room, shutting and locking the door behind himself."Ivan didn't tell you why you were brought here with me?" He asked bluntly. Surprising me, I shook my head and answered, "No your Highness." Rubbing his chin he curled his lip and glanced at me."Ivan wanted your interest in Sasha squashed. He informed me that you have an obsession with your adopted sister," he mumbled candidly. I shrugged and nodded."I love her more than sisterly, but I have never laid with her intimately," I admitted honestly. "You know that she must be wed to someone who carries a title and not some male who was discovered lost wi
Zaika's povNick led me to an enormous suite that was fully furnished with every amenity. I even had a full kitchen stocked full of food. The colors were slate gray, black with stainless steel accents. It fit what my insides were feeling. "If there isn't anything else needed from me, Zaika. I will leave you to explore your living quarters. That door over there leads to Bryce's room but I'm certain that it is locked from his side," Nick chuckled as he waited for me to dismiss him."I should be fine, you may go," I replied. Nodding, he paused before the door."Your training will begin tomorrow around ten so try and get rest. The first days are grueling." I nodded and waved him off. After the door shut I glanced at the modern clock on the kitchen wall and frowned. Seeing the time, I realized that I had sat in the red room for several hours."Your thoughts were consumed with Sasha as the time flew past," Einar whimpered, causing me to frown. Going to the refrigerator to search for someth
Zaika's povEnjoying the meal I had prepared while sitting at the counter my ears perked hearing a door opening from behind me. Assuming it was Bryce I continued digging in my food and ignored him when he meandered inside of the open kitchen."Good to see that you are an early riser. No coffee brewing though which sucks," he huffed as he headed to the cupboard and started preparing a pot."So day one I get to chase psychotic rodents?" I asked with a smirk."No, you don't chase them, you will learn how to move quietly without making a sound as your wolf," he replied with a snarky grin. Rolling my eyes I exhaled."I already can move in silence if I want, Bryce. Can we skip ahead if I prove it to you?" He sucked in his bottom lip and glanced at me."I was looking forward to a slack day. So NO we won't be moving ahead. If you can show me that you can pass those little rat bastards WEARING THE HARNESS we will have the remainder of the day for ourselves," he said chipperly. I curled my lip
Sasha's povSitting on the couch I watched Gallum walk slowly into the ensuite then heard the shower turning on."He didn't bring a change of clothes in with him…he will prance out of there and try to entice you with his manly appeal," my wolf howled in my mind. Pffying, I muttered, "He has no appeal, Aspen. I don't know what is going on with you recently but stop trying to force him on me. He may be handsome but he is well aware that he is. His personality is just disgusting." Frowning I heard a knock on the bedroom door and hissed. Getting up I headed toward the door. I didn't ask who it was. I opened the door and I was staring up at the frightening Southern King Ruben Roderick. Lowering my eyes quickly I bowed. His thick fingers tilted my chin. I swallowed uncomfortably seeing his eyes narrow at me and the insidious grin on his face."Well, what do we have here? Little Sasha Baranov has grown into a lovely young female," he said in his deep rough voice. I shivered and stepped back
Zaika's povVossler was very concerned about Bryce and had already sent his guards out to locate his friend and champion. I was sitting in his office area which was a large intricately carved wooden table with several chairs surrounding it. Resting my hands on the tabletop Vossler cleared his throat."I don't know if Bryce explained his health issues with you since you have not been here long but he…he is very ill and susceptible to the cold. Being in this location has not been ideal for him and his health," he said sullenly. "Bullshit, he went for a swim after we passed the lemmings, why would he do that if he was gravely ill?" I questioned. Vossler grinned and muttered, "That crazy ass probably got distracted by a she-wolf he smelled on his way home." I nodded as I sat back. Nick scurried in, apologized for the interruption, and went to the king. I watched him whisper something into the king's ear that caused both men to frown and eye me with concern. Once Nick stepped back Vossler
Zaika's povI carried Sasha past racks of drying deer hide, roasting venison, and small pups chasing each other around. It made me smile to see them so carefree. I also felt that these wolves weren't rogues at all. They had formed a pack under the female Alpha. It was impressive."I wonder how Boris knew that they were east of Ivan's land?" I mentioned it to Einar and he huffed but did not reply. Scarlett led me to a large round turf hut. "Everyone OUT!" She snarled. I watched several men and women quickly leave. Lifting the flap she gestured for me to enter. I carried Sasha inside the cozy dwelling and watched Scarlett lean the rifle against the side post."I will heal your female if you tell me who murdered my son," Scarlett stated briskly. I swallowed uncomfortably. I wouldn't give a name but would give a simple clue, I decided."It was the eldest son of Ruben Roderick," I said as I watched anger and sorrow fill her eyes. "Lay her down on the furs," she ordered. Doing as she aske
