Dealing with hunger and finding a replacement food source

I came awake with Dregs sitting at the foot of the bed with constellation maps spread out over the area. He looked up at me and grinned. I processed the Patrick ordeal and my Demirkan half dismissed it as just a bump to avoid in my path. I couldn't change what had happened so why dwell on it. Cold blooded? Yes, just like me.

"What are you doing?" He raised his brows and said he was looking for a meat source. The medic walked in and asked him if he told me yet. I eyed him curiously. Dregs sighed and patted my leg.

"My body is um, it's rejecting your kidney. Apparently I need a DNA match and I can't ask my remaining son because he only has one left himself due to his abusive lover," he said softly and I gasped.

"Ashr is your son?" He nodded and said it was a secret.

"Apparently it was to him as well," I mumbled and he chuckled.

"Did you know that I was his Demirkan boyfriend?" I asked him. He smiled
