I sat across from James and his wife, whose name I’d come to learn was Sienna. It was taking every single self-restraining nerve I had to not lash out at him and eventually rip his hair out of his head. He held my murderous gaze with panicked ones, as though asking me to keep silent and not say anything about Asher and Amaris. He’d failed to gain custody of them thanks to yours truly, me, and now he was trying to adopt the two children who had a special place in my heart. I could never allow him to do that.
