LOGINELENA’S POV
I shoved Adrian backward, whispering, “Hide! Please, just go!” My voice shook as I grabbed my towel and wrapped it around myself. He looked at me with his face full of disappointment then his lips curved in a faint, mocking smile. “Really, sweetheart? You’re going out there? Aren't you scared he'll smell me on you?” “Adrian, please!” I hissed, pushing him toward the bathroom. “Don’t make this worse! Just stay there quietly, I beg you.” He held my gaze for a moment before finally stepping back into the bathroom. I shut the door quickly. My handshake was trembling so bad that I thought it might fall off. The knock came again. “Elara? Are you in there?” “I…I’m coming!” My voice cracked. I took a deep breath, fixed my towel tighter, and rushed to open the door Aldric stood there, tall and composed as always, dressed in a simple black shirt with his sleeves rolled up. His dark gray eyes swept over me, pausing briefly on my damp hair, then back to my face. “You look… startled,” he said quietly. “Did I interrupt something?” My heart jumped to my throat. “No! No, of course not,” I said too quickly, “I just got out of the shower. That’s all.” I forced a smile He studied me for a moment, “May I come in?” His unreadable expression turned to a soft and pleading one. Every nerve in my body jerked up in protest; But I forced a shaky smile. “Sure… of course.” I stepped aside, praying that Adrian would be quiet and Aldric wouldn't notice that someone was hiding something in my bathroom. Aldric walked in slowly, his gaze sweeping around the room before settling on me again. “Was someone in here?” His brow scrunched slightly, “Your room smells different,” My breath caught, but I didn’t allow myself to be caught off guard. It's Aldric Harrison, he's very sensitive. “It's probably the new skincare product I'm trying out. The smell is really strong,” I lied smoothly without hesitation. He just nodded. “I didn’t mean to disturb you,” he said softly. “I just… needed to talk.” “Talk about what?” I lifted my head to look at his face, as I clutched my towel tightly. He hesitated, rubbing a hand at the back of his neck. “About us.” “Us?” Confusion etched on my face He sat on the edge of the bed, with a nervous posture, “Elara, I owe you an apology.” My breath hitched. An apology? Why was he apologising to me “I’ve been terrible to you,” he continued, his voice low and filled with raw pain, “I thought that was how marriage was supposed to be. Transactional and Pleasure.” I blinked, unsure how to respond. “Aldric…” He shook his head, cutting me off. “Let me finish, please.” Something in his tone made me stay silent. He sighed, his hands clasped together. “I’ve been going to therapy.” My brows furrowed. “Therapy?” He nodded. “Marriage therapy, actually. I've been going alone for a week now, I didn't tell you because I wasn't ready to face you.” His eyes softened, “After three months of our marriage, I knew something wasn't right. You weren't happy no matter what I bought for you; I heard you crying alone or to your sister sometimes and I figured that I was the problem.” My throat tightened painfully. I was stunned by the confession and just stood rooted in front of him; He leaned forward slightly. “You probably think I’m a cold person, who is incapable of feeling anything. You’re not wrong. I was raised that way. My father loved my mother with gifts and status, never affection and she was happy with it. So I thought sex and money were enough to keep a woman satisfied. But watching you flinch from my touch, watching you avoid my eyes with fear and hearing you cry quietly; it broke something in me.” He sounded so sincere that it twisted my heart; “I don’t know what love is,” he continued quietly. “But I want to learn. I want to understand what makes you smile, what makes you feel safe. I want to make things right.” He stood up and loomed over me; His focus was entirely on me. “I’m not asking you to forget everything,” he said. “Just… don’t give up on me yet.” My heart squeezed painfully. Elara misunderstood him. I lowered my gaze, unable to look him in the eye. If only you knew I wasn’t her at all. He came closer, his movements slow, hesitant like he was afraid. “Elara, please don’t push me away anymore,” he said, voice breaking slightly. “Teach me how to love you. How to make you happy. Don’t treat me like I’m some stranger in my own house.” My lips parted, but no sound came out. Inside me, guilt and fear battled like wildfire. “I…I…” I was confused dumbfounded, I didn't know what to say “Elara…” he whispered my sister’s name like it was a prayer, his eyes locked on mine. “Please, let me in.” My breath trembled as I stared at him and my mind drifted to Adrian, hiding in the bathroom; I was torn between two men; A husband who was learning to love me and a brother who already knew my body, and awakened forbidden desires in me. Before I could speak, his hand lifted to my face. The warmth of his palm brushed my cheek, and my heart cracked under the tenderness of his touch. “I’m sorry,” he said again, barely audible. “For everything.” And then his lips were on mine. I didn't flinch or push him away. I felt something I never imagined I'd feel with a man like Aldric; warmth. His kiss deepened slightly, slow and trembling, as if he was afraid I might vanish if he tried too hard. My hands, still clutching the towel, loosened unconsciously. His hand went around my waist, pulling me closer to him and my hand moved out of impulse, wrapping around his neck. The kiss was filled with emotions and a plea for affection. My entire body melted into the kiss and my heart relaxed like I was in a safe zone. When Aldric finally pulled back, his forehead rested against mine. We were both breathless He rubbed my cheek with his fingers. “I’ll take it slow, I won't force you to do anything against your will,” he whispered. “No matter how long it takes, I'll wait for you to finally see me and love me as your husband.” My pulse was still uneven as he turned toward the door. He hesitated, then faced me again, “Elara, can I stay here tonight? I promise, I won’t do anything you don’t want. I just… want to hold you.” My heart pounded painfully. Adrian’s in the bathroom. But the plea in his eyes disarmed me. “Okay,” I breathed before I could stop myself. His lips curved faintly. “Thank you.” I turned away quickly, changing into my nightwear with trembling fingers. God, what am I doing? When I slipped into bed, Aldric lay beside me, his arm wrapped around me protectively. “Can you move into my room? I don’t want us sleeping apart anymore,” he murmured. I managed a weak smile. “If I refuse, you’ll just keep coming here, won’t you?” He chuckled softly. “Exactly.” We laughed quietly before silence filled the space between us again. “Thank you for coming into my life,” he said. “And thank you… for trying to love me right,” I whispered. He kissed my forehead gently, and we drifted to sleep. The morning light broke. I woke to his fingers caressing my hair. “Good morning, love,” he murmured, “Good morning,” I smiled with sleepy eyes. He took the blanket off his body and got out of bed; He was already halfway when I realised he was headed towards the bathroom. ‘Oh my God!’ Adrian was still in there. I jumped out of the bed in panic; my heart pounded like it was going to burst out of my chest. “No, Adrian, wait!” I screamed as I rushed to stop him; But I was too late; He opened the door and walked in before I could reach himELENA POV “What do you mean Elara won't be here, it's my wedding day.” I exclaimed. The past two days have been hectic because of my wedding preparation. Everyone was tense and busy. Before this could happen it took a lot for this to happen in the first place.Aldric refused to let me lift a finger since I was discharged from the hospital. I took a full week to recover at home where I kept staring at my wedding dress. Aldric always came home on time to me but whenever I mentioned our wedding he would freeze, scared that something might happen to me if we were exposed again. He kept using the accident that happened between Mr Carson and I to delay our marriage. But successfully I was able to emotionally make Aldric agree to our marriage. Though he made quick changes with our security and invitees . He wanted everything supervised to avoid a mistake happening again. While on the other hand, Elara took a trip with James to their beach house promising to be back before my wedding day but
ELENA POV Beep beep beep.I heard weird sounds, what was that? Then suddenly I saw myself back at the hotel where I stood waiting for Aldric to fish up his call so we could walk into the hotel together . Then suddenly I felt I heard a loud sound and something hit me sending a sharp pain up my arm into my brain.I yelled as I fell to the ground. I raised my hand to see blood. Was I just shot? I have been shot?I could feel my heart pounding in my ears as I tried to figure out where I was shot. Was I going to die today? What about my son? What about my sister? We just started getting along? And Aldric, how would he feel if I was dead? Would he be able to survive without me?I could hear something yelling my name as I began to feel myself go numb. Is this really the end?Maybe I shouldn't have complained so much, I would have been at home with Aldric and my little boy watching a movie instead of being here cold and alone, only to put everyone in misery and pain. And slowly the darkness
ALDRIC POV Everything was blurry as I carried Elena's bloody body into the car. We drove to the hospital as the nurses took over and the doctor came to check her as they took Elena into the operating room.I….I don't even know I was about to get to Elena because I couldn't hear anything anymore. All I could hear were ringings and the sound of my heart beat hammering in my ears as I sat on the hospital floor staring at my bloody hands and clothes.“Mr Harrison? Mr Harrison? Mr Harrison.” I could hear my name but it sounded like I was under water as I kept staring at my hands stained with Elena blood.“Aldric!” I heard a loud voice pulling me out of my drowning state. I looked up to see my father staring at me pityly.“Dad?” I asked tears gathering in my eyes as I watched Elara closed her mouth with her hand, “What's…what's going to happen to Elena, she…she didn't do anything wrong. I…I shouldn't have gone out tonight….she doesn't know anything…she's innocent Dad, dad do something.”“A
ALDRIC POV I knew my father was right but I didn't want to leave in fear of something I knew would never happen.Plus what was I going to tell Elena? That because I cheated, and Helen's father found out, I want to keep my life in the low key?How would Elena feel? Not only did I cheat but I also want to deprive her of the freedom of walking around freely because the girl I cheated on with, her father is a psychopath and I don't want to get involved with him.Everything just doesn't add up to me. For now all I can do is meet up with Helen and talk with her. She may be upset but she's still my best friend and would listen to me. But tonight .... Tonight is I and Elena's night. I'm not gonna let anything ruin it.I walked into my room to see Elena in front of the mirror holding two dresses in her hand. She immediately turned to me and the smile on her face knocked the breath out of my lungs . She looked happy and excited for our night together, so how do I turn such a beauty down.“What
ALDRIC POV I smiled softly at Elena tugging her hair behind her ears. I've been trying my very best not to hurt or annoy Elena in any way but it seems the more I try, the more I fall more into making her sad.I thought spending the little time I got at night Jayden was the perfect way to make Elena know how much I want to make a family with her again. I want to watch Elena get pregnant and swell with my child growing inside her.I want to watch her through all her terms and seasons in pregnancy, I want to be with her during child birth and while training our child. It hurts me every time I stare at Jayden, I remember rejecting him and his mother. I remember the look on Elena's face and it haunts me every night.Look at my boy, he's …he's all big now and I don't even know what his first word was. I don't know when he took.his first step or when he tasted his first real food. I wonder about the look on his face when he tasted bacon, because that kid is obsessed with bacon. And his fav
ELENA POV Two days flew by like a blur. Aldric had been busy non-stop since our engagement ceremony. When Aldric's Father called for Aldric on my engagement night, I thought it was something serious but it was actually something to be happy for.The Harrisons stock price hit high like never before. They partied all through the night and the next day and today as more people came to either partner with them or congratulate them.It has been a series of calls and calls ever since our engagement. My mother-in-law took it upon herself to continue to introduce me to her friends and partners. She says and I quote,“It is important to be in society as a Harrison.”Life keeps getting harder by the day with constant visits and pressure. My so wonderful mother-in-law takes me shopping two times everyday so I look like one of them in society. What made it less boring was the fact that my sister and mother tagged along. Now,I was planning my wedding with the wedding planner and my mother-in-law
ELENA POV “Elara.” I froze as I heard Aldric's voice come from behind me.“Shit your husband is here.” Nina said.I smiled as I turned around on my chair, “Aldric? What are you doing here?”He smiled brightly at me as he walked over to us, “Nina,” he acknowledged her as he placed a kiss on my lip
ELENA POV Annoyed, I walked out of the kitchen so I could go find my phone and call Nina when someone grabbed me from behind and carried me up before dropping me slowly.I turned around to see Aldric smiling sheepishly at me, I couldn't help but smile back.“Good morning, beautiful lady.” Aldric s
ELENA POV Aldric slowly climbed off me and laid next to me with a smile.Soon, I was on my knees immediately crossing over Aldric.I used my fingers to trace along Aldric's collar bone, slowly down his stomach. Aldric's gaze was fixed on me,he didn't once take his eye off me.It made me more nervo
ALDRIC POV I haven't stopped smiling since I got to work this morning. All I could think about was Elara. How sweet and innocent she was last night, yet she did that to me.Even during the meeting I just kept smiling like a fool.“Sir? Sir!”I looked up from my laptop to see my secretary looking a
