LOGINELENA’S POV
I shoved Adrian backward, whispering, “Hide! Please, just go!” My voice shook as I grabbed my towel and wrapped it around myself. He looked at me with his face full of disappointment then his lips curved in a faint, mocking smile. “Really, sweetheart? You’re going out there? Aren't you scared he'll smell me on you?” “Adrian, please!” I hissed, pushing him toward the bathroom. “Don’t make this worse! Just stay there quietly, I beg you.” He held my gaze for a moment before finally stepping back into the bathroom. I shut the door quickly. My handshake was trembling so bad that I thought it might fall off. The knock came again. “Elara? Are you in there?” “I…I’m coming!” My voice cracked. I took a deep breath, fixed my towel tighter, and rushed to open the door Aldric stood there, tall and composed as always, dressed in a simple black shirt with his sleeves rolled up. His dark gray eyes swept over me, pausing briefly on my damp hair, then back to my face. “You look… startled,” he said quietly. “Did I interrupt something?” My heart jumped to my throat. “No! No, of course not,” I said too quickly, “I just got out of the shower. That’s all.” I forced a smile He studied me for a moment, “May I come in?” His unreadable expression turned to a soft and pleading one. Every nerve in my body jerked up in protest; But I forced a shaky smile. “Sure… of course.” I stepped aside, praying that Adrian would be quiet and Aldric wouldn't notice that someone was hiding something in my bathroom. Aldric walked in slowly, his gaze sweeping around the room before settling on me again. “Was someone in here?” His brow scrunched slightly, “Your room smells different,” My breath caught, but I didn’t allow myself to be caught off guard. It's Aldric Harrison, he's very sensitive. “It's probably the new skincare product I'm trying out. The smell is really strong,” I lied smoothly without hesitation. He just nodded. “I didn’t mean to disturb you,” he said softly. “I just… needed to talk.” “Talk about what?” I lifted my head to look at his face, as I clutched my towel tightly. He hesitated, rubbing a hand at the back of his neck. “About us.” “Us?” Confusion etched on my face He sat on the edge of the bed, with a nervous posture, “Elara, I owe you an apology.” My breath hitched. An apology? Why was he apologising to me “I’ve been terrible to you,” he continued, his voice low and filled with raw pain, “I thought that was how marriage was supposed to be. Transactional and Pleasure.” I blinked, unsure how to respond. “Aldric…” He shook his head, cutting me off. “Let me finish, please.” Something in his tone made me stay silent. He sighed, his hands clasped together. “I’ve been going to therapy.” My brows furrowed. “Therapy?” He nodded. “Marriage therapy, actually. I've been going alone for a week now, I didn't tell you because I wasn't ready to face you.” His eyes softened, “After three months of our marriage, I knew something wasn't right. You weren't happy no matter what I bought for you; I heard you crying alone or to your sister sometimes and I figured that I was the problem.” My throat tightened painfully. I was stunned by the confession and just stood rooted in front of him; He leaned forward slightly. “You probably think I’m a cold person, who is incapable of feeling anything. You’re not wrong. I was raised that way. My father loved my mother with gifts and status, never affection and she was happy with it. So I thought sex and money were enough to keep a woman satisfied. But watching you flinch from my touch, watching you avoid my eyes with fear and hearing you cry quietly; it broke something in me.” He sounded so sincere that it twisted my heart; “I don’t know what love is,” he continued quietly. “But I want to learn. I want to understand what makes you smile, what makes you feel safe. I want to make things right.” He stood up and loomed over me; His focus was entirely on me. “I’m not asking you to forget everything,” he said. “Just… don’t give up on me yet.” My heart squeezed painfully. Elara misunderstood him. I lowered my gaze, unable to look him in the eye. If only you knew I wasn’t her at all. He came closer, his movements slow, hesitant like he was afraid. “Elara, please don’t push me away anymore,” he said, voice breaking slightly. “Teach me how to love you. How to make you happy. Don’t treat me like I’m some stranger in my own house.” My lips parted, but no sound came out. Inside me, guilt and fear battled like wildfire. “I…I…” I was confused dumbfounded, I didn't know what to say “Elara…” he whispered my sister’s name like it was a prayer, his eyes locked on mine. “Please, let me in.” My breath trembled as I stared at him and my mind drifted to Adrian, hiding in the bathroom; I was torn between two men; A husband who was learning to love me and a brother who already knew my body, and awakened forbidden desires in me. Before I could speak, his hand lifted to my face. The warmth of his palm brushed my cheek, and my heart cracked under the tenderness of his touch. “I’m sorry,” he said again, barely audible. “For everything.” And then his lips were on mine. I didn't flinch or push him away. I felt something I never imagined I'd feel with a man like Aldric; warmth. His kiss deepened slightly, slow and trembling, as if he was afraid I might vanish if he tried too hard. My hands, still clutching the towel, loosened unconsciously. His hand went around my waist, pulling me closer to him and my hand moved out of impulse, wrapping around his neck. The kiss was filled with emotions and a plea for affection. My entire body melted into the kiss and my heart relaxed like I was in a safe zone. When Aldric finally pulled back, his forehead rested against mine. We were both breathless He rubbed my cheek with his fingers. “I’ll take it slow, I won't force you to do anything against your will,” he whispered. “No matter how long it takes, I'll wait for you to finally see me and love me as your husband.” My pulse was still uneven as he turned toward the door. He hesitated, then faced me again, “Elara, can I stay here tonight? I promise, I won’t do anything you don’t want. I just… want to hold you.” My heart pounded painfully. Adrian’s in the bathroom. But the plea in his eyes disarmed me. “Okay,” I breathed before I could stop myself. His lips curved faintly. “Thank you.” I turned away quickly, changing into my nightwear with trembling fingers. God, what am I doing? When I slipped into bed, Aldric lay beside me, his arm wrapped around me protectively. “Can you move into my room? I don’t want us sleeping apart anymore,” he murmured. I managed a weak smile. “If I refuse, you’ll just keep coming here, won’t you?” He chuckled softly. “Exactly.” We laughed quietly before silence filled the space between us again. “Thank you for coming into my life,” he said. “And thank you… for trying to love me right,” I whispered. He kissed my forehead gently, and we drifted to sleep. The morning light broke. I woke to his fingers caressing my hair. “Good morning, love,” he murmured, “Good morning,” I smiled with sleepy eyes. He took the blanket off his body and got out of bed; He was already halfway when I realised he was headed towards the bathroom. ‘Oh my God!’ Adrian was still in there. I jumped out of the bed in panic; my heart pounded like it was going to burst out of my chest. “No, Adrian, wait!” I screamed as I rushed to stop him; But I was too late; He opened the door and walked in before I could reach himALDRIC POV Rowland and I sat in the living room waiting for Elena to come down with the results while Adrian stood at the far end clutching onto the paternity test result he claimed to be real.Elena's mom walked in carrying a tray of tea and coffee. I quickly stood up taking it from her,“Mom, you shouldn't have stressed yourself, I would have…” I tried to say but Adrian interrupted me saying,“Aren't your servants working?” He asked with a frown.“Oh this is nothing, sons, we do it a lot here at home.” Elena's Mom said with a smile.“Elena, does she uh, does she do this too? Like serving or something?” I asked, trying not to sound invasive.Elena's mom chuckled, nodding, “Yes, especially Elena, don't get me wrong dear, just that Elena is more helpful than Elara.”I couldn't help but smile picturing Elena carrying a tray of snacks to me clearly still pregnant with our child.“Wow, way to sell your daughter out. I can be quite helpful as well mom, thank you for your input.”“You must
ALDRIC POV I held the phone to my ear waiting Elena to pick the call when my study's door burst open again startling me and Rowland stood there with a raised brow,“Don't tell me you're about to talk to Elena through the phone.” I blinked confused as I looked at my phone where Elena's number was dialing, then at Rowland and back to my phone again.“Well you're not that dumb, right?” Rowland asked.I chuckled nervously, hanging up before Elena picked up the call, “Of course not, I may be in love but I'm not dumb,” I said quietly dropping my phone beside me.Rowland gave me a side eye as he walked back into my study, “Was that your grand plan on getting Elena back before Adrian does?”I released a breath, “I already told you Rowland, it's not a competition.”“That's what you think, but I've known both you and Adrian my entire life, and I know that Adrian is already a step ahead of you. He is afterall a player.” Rowland said with a smirk, like he was day dreaming.“Ew, man, that's my b
ELENA POV I sat on the swing at our backyard holding a cup of warm chocolate.I let out a sigh as I stared at the surroundings with a smile. I never thought that I would be back here as a daughter to stay and not visit. It's been hell since I came back home, my mom and dad were both on my neck in why I cheated. And then the sudden change in character it was just so weird.I couldn't say a word,I remember two days ago like it was yesterday and I don't think I would or can ever forget it.**Flashback**Aldric's father driver was kind enough to drop us off at our house. Aldric's Mom refused to say a word to me all through the drive back home. Immediately we got to our home, Elara didn't say a word as she angrily got out of the car.I swallowed turning to Aldric's parents, “I'm…I'm really sorry for all this and thank you for driving us home.” I said softly about to open the door but stopped after what Aldric's father said,“Elena, I don't know what's going on with Adrian and you…”“I pro
ALDRIC POV It's been two days since Elena left my house, which was supposed to be our home but she's not here.I couldn't stop thinking about two days ago when Charles called with the information I asked for. His words kept repeating in my head, over and over again.**Flash back**“Yo Aldric, I think your wife went on a business trip with a friend.”“Business trip? My wife didn't mention any to me. And, what friend are you talking about?” I asked, shocked by the news.“It's a male, just so you know and they seem close. So…with some help from my guys, I got his name. I'm sure you know him, don't worry, it's, uhh, James, yeah James. James Blackwell.”My body immediately went rigid as the words left Charles's lips. James? She travelled with a man, maybe he was a friend. I tried to justify or give myself a bit of peace,“Okay , what about Las Vegas? Who did she travel with?” I asked calmly not wanting to cause alarm or let anyone know what's happening in my home. It is afterall a family
ELENA POV “What…what did I just hear?” Aldric's Mom asked coming to stand right next to me, she pulled me back trying to look into my eyes but I kept looking down“Elara, care to explain, what the hell I just heard?”“Mother, I…”“I don't want to be around you right now.” Aldric said, walking past me.“No, wait…” I tried to say but Aldric was already walking towards the stairs leading to the living room.“What the hell did you do again?” Aldric's Mom said following after her son, not without sending me a side glare, “Aldric son, Aldric, talk to mommy.” I swallowed the lump that had formed in my throat, “I should…” tears rolling down my cheeks, “I should go meet Aldric, I….I need to explain. I have to explain.” I said to myself cleaning the tears on my cheeks, I turned to turn towards the same direction as Aldric but Adrian held my arm stopping me.“What are you doing?” Adrian asked,“I have to…no, I need to speak with Aldric, he needs to know that I love him…”Adrian cuts me off pul
ELENA POV “Who the hell is James?” He asked, more annoyed.“Aldric.. Aldric, where did you hear that name from?” I asked instead.“Elena, I just…I just need an answer.”“I don't have anything to say to you.” I quickly said, about turning around but Aldric cut my hand firmly but softly.“But just a few seconds ago you said otherwise, aren't…aren't you tired of lying to me?” Aldric asked, his eyes clearly said he was hurt and I didn't mean for him to be hurt or confused anymore.I breathed out softly, “Aldric,” I began, “I…we didn't mean to do any of this…”“You swapped and Elara went off with some guy and you..you stayed here, with me. Isn't it?” Aldric asked, cutting me off, his eyes showing slightly hoping for it to be as he said.I nodded, not wanting to prolong our conversation because there was more to it. I needed to tell Aldric every single thing, I just hope that it doesn't affect our relationship.“Yes, I'm so sorry, Aldric . I just… we didn't mean to deceive you. Elara neede
ELENA POV “Elara.” I froze as I heard Aldric's voice come from behind me.“Shit your husband is here.” Nina said.I smiled as I turned around on my chair, “Aldric? What are you doing here?”He smiled brightly at me as he walked over to us, “Nina,” he acknowledged her as he placed a kiss on my lip
ELENA POV Annoyed, I walked out of the kitchen so I could go find my phone and call Nina when someone grabbed me from behind and carried me up before dropping me slowly.I turned around to see Aldric smiling sheepishly at me, I couldn't help but smile back.“Good morning, beautiful lady.” Aldric s
ELENA POV Aldric slowly climbed off me and laid next to me with a smile.Soon, I was on my knees immediately crossing over Aldric.I used my fingers to trace along Aldric's collar bone, slowly down his stomach. Aldric's gaze was fixed on me,he didn't once take his eye off me.It made me more nervo
“Excuse me?” I asked confused, “I don't understand.”“At the airport, you looked like you were running away….” Then she paused and gasped, “Where are my manners, you probably don't even remember me.” “Yeah, I don't.” I said with a furrowed brow.“Oh,it's okay. We only spoke for a few minutes, that
