POV LiLy

"We had to choose someone, it was painful, but you and your sister are very different. Emily is the best hunter in the pack, she's strong and fast, and she can become an luna one day, while you are a weak and useless Omega who can barely feed herself," my father said honestly.

I huddled on the kitchen floor and let my body slowly slide down, those words piercing me like poisoned arrows through my heart, tears streaming down my face. Involuntarily, I hugged my legs and took deep breaths, trying to calm myself. The people I once called parents were in front of me, watching me, and they seemed certain that they had made the right decision by choosing me instead of Emily.

"See, by your reaction, we were right. Emily is honorable and would never react like this; she would accept her fate and do everything to honor the pack, while her sister is weak and lying on the floor of our kitchen, crying about her useless life," my father shrugged, unsparingly.

At that moment, I remembered Ethan's request and looked at the ring on my finger; my parents had sentenced me to death, and we could never be happy together.

"I was going to get married..." I murmured through tears, with a trembling body and a pale face.

"What are you talking about? With whom?" my mother raised her voice for the first time, angry.

"Ethan... the Alpha's son proposed to me..." I said, between sobs, nervously.

My father got up angrily and grabbed my shoulders tightly, pressing my body against the wall and lifting me from the floor with brutality.

"Tell me you're still pure, Lily. We warned you not to sleep with any man until you turned eighteen!" he shouted, agitated.

"You're hurting me," I replied, crying.

"Answer my question!" he said seriously, looking into my eyes.

"I'm still pure..." I stammered the words, nervous. "I would never break the rules..."

"Thank goodness," my mother let out a sigh of relief.

Of course, I was untouched. Ethan Montgomery was a perfect gentleman, kind to everyone, the son of our current Alpha, and the future Alpha of our pack. He would soon take his father's place in the pack. Ethan always respected me; he wanted everything to be right: marriage first, then he would mark me with his bite, and then the long-awaited night of love. It all seemed so impossible now; I couldn't stop crying.

"I thought you loved me..." I said hurt.

Both of them looked away, and my father let go of me, allowing me to fall to the floor.

"Go to your room; tomorrow morning, someone will come to get you."

"Where is Emily?" I asked nervously.

"Emily is hunting outside; we don't want to involve her in this."

"Cowards! Filthy!" I shouted in despair.

After uttering several insults and curses against them, my father grabbed me by the hair, dragging me into the room. They threw me in, and I heard my mother lock the door from the outside, leaving me trapped inside. I wasn't as strong as Emily; I couldn't jump out of the window without hurting myself, nor did I have the strength to break down the door. My thoughts were on Ethan; he was the only one who cared about my despised life; everyone else despised me and admired my sister for her supernatural abilities. Emily could run long distances, and her strength was incomparable, while I could barely transform into my wolf form without feeling pain and, expending energy.

Some hours later......

POV Lily

I was distressed, searching for any opening. It was already the third hairpin I had broken while trying to pick the door lock. Suddenly, I heard footsteps approaching in the hallway. I hid behind the door, scared, and recognized the familiar scent of Emily.

"Emily... help! I need help!" I cried out desperately as she approached the door.

Furthermore, I saw her shadow, stopping in front of the door, but she remained silent, just observing me with a tray in her hands.

"Emily, please listen, we don't have much time. You need to open this door. Mom and Dad did something terrible. I don't have time to explain, just let me out," I yelled nervously.

"Do you really think I'm going to let you go? So you can run into Ethan's arms, and I'll be forced to take your place?" I noticed a mocking tone in her voice.

"Emily... you knew..." I put my hand over my mouth, astonished.

My relationship with my sister had always been healthy; she respected me a lot and protected me when others mocked me for being a weak Omega.

"I'm sorry, Lily, but I can't let you leave," she said seriously.

"Why are you doing this? I thought we were friends; you always took care of me," I said with tear-filled eyes. I had been betrayed by everyone in my family on my eighteenth birthday.

"You always caught Ethan's attention. You knew I was in love with him, and yet you accepted when he proposed to you!" she said angrily.

"We fell in love, Emily! It was a fair competition; if he had chosen you, I would never have interfered!" I banged on the door in anger. "You always got everything over me. Why is this so important?" I said, choking on my sobs, my crying muffled.

"Exactly, Lily, I was always better than you at everything. I was the prettiest, the smartest, the most powerful, and I earned a prominent place in this pack for our parents, unlike you, who just cried in the corners like a defeat..." she said angrily, "Oh, poor me, I'm just a weak and defenseless Omega," she said mockingly and angrily at the same time.

"Emily, I thought you cared about me," I whispered, apprehensive.

"You always did that, playing the victim, so people would pity you, Lily. I'm sure Ethan only proposed to you because he feels sorry for you being a reject!" she shouted, furious.

"That's not true!" I replied breathlessly.

"But now, when you leave, he'll have enough time to fall in love with me and make the right choice this time," she smiled maliciously.

"You can't do this... Ethan will never accept you when he finds out that you were part of all this," I said, horrified by her demonic plan.

"Lily, we're identical physically. Ethan will be attracted to me little by little, and when you're gone, and he misses you, I might not have the same depressive personality as you, but gradually, he will see that the pack needs a strong Luna like me and not a useless one like you!" she laughed, pushing the plate of food under the door for me to eat.

"Enjoy your last meal!" she said sarcastically.

"I loved you, Emily. You're taking away the only thing I managed to achieve on my own in my entire life," my lips trembled.

"My dear little sister, I never cared about any of our disputes or our training struggles. You won the only thing I wanted  Ethan. He was the only one I cared about. If you were a true sister who loved me, you would have rejected him, so I could become the Luna of the pack," she said through gritted teeth, filled with resentment.

"It's not up to you, Emily," I whispered, my eyes closed.

"That doesn't matter anymore. Enjoy your last hours, Lily Brooks. They will come to get you tomorrow morning!" she said, leaving me alone.

"Emily, no!" I yelled in anger.

I grabbed the tray and threw the food against the wall. The tuna sandwich splattered, spreading jelly all over the wall, and the juice spilled on the floor while I sat on the bed, shocked by what I had just heard. Betrayal had a bitter taste, especially when it came from the people I trusted the most in this life. I curled up in the corner, hugging my pillow, allowing tears to flow slowly down my face.
