The high-rise office of the CEO at Miller Group overlooked the glittering harbor, but inside, the atmosphere was tight with anticipation.

"Stand still," Vivian commanded softly, stepping closer to Oliver.

She was holding a dark navy tie, her fingers brushing against the warm skin of his collarbone. Her personal stylist had delivered three racks of custom-tailored suits an hour ago. Vivian had expected an awkward transformation, but as Oliver stepped out of the fitting room, her breath had caught in her throat.

The custom charcoal suit fit his broad shoulders and lean waist so perfectly it looked sculpted. Gone was the broke athlete in oversized hoodies; in his place stood a man whose sheer physical presence dominated the room. Yet, true to his disguise, Oliver kept his posture relaxed, a soft, slightly hesitant smile on his face.

"I'm not used to silk, Vivian," Oliver murmured, looking down at her as she expertly tied his Windsor knot. His voice was low, vibrating right against her chest. "It feels a bit tight."

"You'll get used to it," she replied, trying to ignore how close they were standing. "You look like a million bucks. Exactly what we need."

Before Oliver could answer, the frosted glass doors of her office swung open without a knock.

"Vivian, darling! We brought you some early birthday presents!" Eleanor’s shrill, condescending voice echoed through the foyer.

Vivian didn't even flinch. She subtly patted Oliver’s chest and gestured toward the high-backed leather armchair opposite her desk.

"Sit," she whispered.

Oliver obliged immediately. He sat down, crossing one long leg over the other, his back completely turned to the entrance, presenting a powerful, anonymous silhouette to whoever had walked in.

Eleanor strutted into the office, draped in an atrocious red fur coat, with Julian following closely behind, wearing a triumphant sneer.

"We thought we'd stop by to check on your resignation letter," Julian taunted, holding a leather folder. "There’s no point dragging this out for thirteen more days, Vivian. Save yourself the embarrassment."

Vivian slowly walked around her mahogany desk and leaned against the edge, folding her arms. "I see you two still haven't learned how to knock."

"Why knock on an office that will belong to me by the end of the month?" Eleanor scoffed. Then, her sharp eyes landed on the tall man sitting in the armchair. "Who is this? A new investor? I hope you aren't begging for loans, Vivian. It's quite pathetic."

"Not an investor," Vivian said coolly. She picked up a freshly stamped document from her desk and held it out. "Meet my legal husband."

The silence in the room was deafening.

Eleanor’s jaw dropped, her arrogant posture instantly shattering. Julian took an involuntary step back, his eyes widening in absolute shock before he snatched the paper from Vivian's hand.

Oliver slowly turned the armchair around to face them. He rested his elbows on the armrests, looking at Julian and Eleanor with a mild, polite expression.

"Husband?" Julian barked out a harsh, disbelieving laugh, his eyes darting down to the marriage certificate. "Oliver Ross? Who the hell is Oliver Ross?"

Julian stared at the name, then looked up at Oliver, eyeing his custom suit with pure disdain. "I've worked in this city's high society for a decade, and I've never heard of an Oliver Ross. You're a nobody! You put a nameless, broke street runner in an expensive suit, Vivian, but he's still just trash from the gutter!"

"Careful, Julian," Vivian warned, her eyes narrowing into cold slits. "He is legally my spouse. The marriage certificate was filed with the city court this morning. The condition in my father's will has been fulfilled."

Eleanor clawed at Julian’s arm, her face pale. "Is this true? Julian, fix this!"

"It doesn't matter!" Julian spat, glaring at Oliver with pure hatred. "A fake marriage won't hold up under a federal audit! I don't care who this guy is—by next week, I'll have his background ripped apart, this marriage annulled, and both of you kicked out on the street!"

Oliver didn't react to the threat. He simply stood up, towering over Julian by a good few inches, and offered a gentle, almost innocent smile. "We look forward to your lawyers, Mr. Sterling."

"Enjoy your little dress-up game while it lasts," Julian sneered, turning on his heel. "Come on, Eleanor. Let's go."

They stormed out, slamming the glass doors behind them.

Vivian let out a long, shaky breath, sinking onto the edge of her desk. "That was intense. Thank you for staying calm, Oliver. Julian can be... ruthless."

"He seems very loud," Oliver said softly, adjusting his cuffs with a calm smile. "Don't worry about him, Vivian. You should rest. I'm going to step out to grab us some tea."

"Okay," she murmured, already pulling up her laptop.

Oliver walked out of the corporate tower and pulled out his black, encrypted satellite phone as he reached the quiet side street. The gentle, innocent husband facade vanished in a split second, replaced by a cold, deadly gaze.

He dialed a single emergency line.

"Sir?" his global financial director answered instantly.

"Julian Sterling," Oliver commanded, his voice dark and ruthless. "Freeze every single one of his personal and corporate bank accounts immediately. Put a total hold on his lines of credit and offshore assets under the guise of an urgent fraud investigation. I want every transaction blocked by tonight."

"Consider it done, Mr. Ross. How long should the freeze last?"

Oliver stared up at the top floor of the Miller Group building, his eyes cold as steel.

"Until he has to beg on the street."

The rain hit the high floor-to-ceiling windows of the penthouse with a relentless, rhythmic patter. Vivian sat on the plush leather sofa, a mug of warm tea resting untouched on the mahogany coffee table in front of her. She looked composed, her posture upright, but beneath the quiet exterior, her mind was a whirlwind of unanswered questions and sharp, agonizing suspicions. The heavy front door unlocked with a soft click, and Oliver walked in. He was dripping slightly from the rain, holding a bag of her favorite pastries from the bakery downtown. The moment his dark eyes caught hers, a wave of profound relief washed over his features. He immediately dropped his coat onto a chair and walked fast toward her. "Vivian," Oliver said, his voice deep and laced with genuine concern. He knelt beside the sofa, reaching out to take her hands. "Why did you leave the hospital alone? When I went back to your room and found it empty... I thought something happened to you." Vivian looked down a

The sharp dial tone of the disconnected call echoed through the dimly lit hospital suite, leaving behind a silence so absolute it felt suffocating. Vivian sat motionless on the edge of the medical bed, her phone gripped tightly in her hand. Her heart hammered wildly against her ribs, but her face remained a mask of forced, rigid composure. *Look closer at home, Vivian... Check who Oliver really is...* The distorted words repeated in her head like a dark spell, tearing through her thoughts. She stood up slowly, her hands trembling as she smoothed down the dark wool coat her assistant had dropped off earlier. She began packing her few personal belongings, but her mind was a chaotic storm of fragmented memories. She stared into the mirror above the vanity, trying to force her chaotic thoughts into order. She tried desperately to remember the schoolyard—the classrooms, the corridors of the private academy from a decade ago. She remembered the faces of her peers, the social circles, t

The quiet rhythm of the hospital heart monitor filled the dimly lit private suite, soft and steady. Oliver sat beside the bed, his broad hand still holding Vivian’s fingers with gentle, unyielding warmth. He looked down at her pale, bruised face, feeling an intense wave of protective instinct rushing through his veins. Vivian turned her dark eyes toward him, her gaze clear and questioning despite her fatigue. "Before the crash, Oliver... what was so important that you wanted to tell me?" Oliver offered her a small, tender smile, stepping closer to smoothly adjust the blanket over her shoulders. His expression was warm, completely devoid of the sharp, lethal edge he had carried outside the room. "I wanted to tell you something I’ve kept to myself since the day we met," Oliver murmured softly, his thumb gently caressing her knuckles. "We didn't meet for the first time at the corporate gala last year, Vivian. We went to the same private academy when we were teenagers." Vivian blinke

The pale morning light trickled through the sheer curtains of the penthouse suite, casting a soft, golden glow across the bedroom. Vivian stirred awake, the subtle aroma of freshly ground coffee and toasted brioche drifting from the kitchen. She sat up, running a hand through her dark hair, feeling a rare sense of quiet warmth despite the ongoing corporate war with Victor Smith. When she stepped into the sunlit kitchen, Oliver was standing by the marble counter, setting a carefully arranged breakfast tray. He wore a simple linen shirt, his expression unusually gentle, yet underlined by a deep, quiet resolve. "Good morning," Oliver murmured, his voice soft as he looked up. He walked over, leaning down to gently kiss her forehead. "You need your strength today." Vivian smiled, leaning into his touch for a fleeting moment. "Thank you, Oliver. You always know how to ground me." As she reached for her coffee cup, Oliver remained standing beside her, his hands resting on the edge of t

The quiet inside the mahogany-paneled cigar lounge was suffused with an suffocating, razor-thin tension. Vivian stood under the doorway, her dark eyes flashing between Victor Smith’s malicious, bitter sneer and Oliver’s completely motionless posture. Her hand gripped the edge of the brass door handle, her chest rising and falling heavily."What blood, Mr. Smith?" Vivian repeated, her voice dripping with absolute coldness as she took a slow, deliberate step into the room.Victor’s mouth opened, a lethal word lingering on his tongue as he prepared to dismantle Oliver’s cover right before her eyes. However, before Victor could speak, Oliver stepped forward seamlessly, placing himself between Victor and Vivian. His posture remained calm, but his dark eyes locked onto Victor’s with an icy, terrifying intensity that promised swift, total annihilation if another word left his mouth."Mr. Smith is referring to my father's military service and the loss of my family, Vivian," Oliver said smoo

Instead, her Vice President of Finance walked into the room with an expression that bordered on shock."Ms. Miller... the embargo is breaking," the VP stammered, placing a real-time terminal feed on the table. "As of thirty minutes ago, European regulatory authorities abruptly lifted the holds on our luxury import vessels. Our frozen credit lines in Singapore and London were reinstated without conditions."Vivian stared at the digital monitor, her heart skipping a beat. "What happened? Did Smith Global withdraw their regulatory petitions?""They had no choice," her CFO added, leaning over the table with wide eyes.
