Getting ready for our date
It was five-thirty on the dot when Julie rushed through the bakery door in excitement. "Good afternoon, mother and father." She said as she hurried past them. Julie was skipping steps while running up the stairs in happiness. She arrived at her room door, opened it, entered inside and shut the door. Their daughter's behavior did not surprise Mr. and Mrs. Harper since they knew she was in love. Mr. Harper was still skeptical about Steven, but he kept his opinion to himself, and Mrs. Harper felt glad that her daughter had gotten over her fear of loving someone. Chloe stared at her phone, and it was already six pm. Matt had said he would pick her up by seven o'clock. She felt blue and had been starving herself inside her room from last night till now. Her mother had tried to get her out of bed. But Chloe was not letting anyone in as she did not plan to go outside. Julie dropped her bag on the floor and removed her shoe from

His Voice
"Uh, Extravagant restaurant, eh? Why can't I wrap my head around that name?" Julie jokingly asked with a little giggle. Steven glanced at her before staring at the road again. He kept one hand on the steering wheel and used his other to hold Julie's hand, squeezing it gently, but tightly. "Come on, babe. It's a new and fancy restaurant that had recently opened, that's why you don't know it. You are my queen, and I want to treat you as such." Steven replied. Julie gave him an awkward smile and reluctant expression that made Steven feel like he had said something wrong or ridiculous. "What? Did I say something bad?" He asked, feeling confused and uncertain about why she made such a face. "I don't know. But you and I curled up on the sofa watching an old school movie with some bags of chips will sure make me feel like a queen too." Julie calmly answered as she covered Steven's hand

His grip on her
"Steven!" Chloe shouted when she got outside, but Steven was nowhere in sight. "Steven!!" She kept screaming while sobbing. People that were leaving the restaurant, and those that were coming in, gazed at Chloe with various expressions. Some of them look confused, others seem scared, while the rest glance at her weirdly. However, their faces did not matter to Chloe since the only face she needed to see was Steven's. The air was getting cold outside, and Chloe's sleeveless dress was not the proper attire for that kind of weather. She shivered as she paced back and forth, hoping to see Steven's face among the various faces passing by. Matt finally got done with his brief discussion with the receptionist, and when he turned his head, Chloe was nowhere in sight. He approached the doorman and asked, "Excuse me. Did you notice where the lady I came in with went?" "

The end of their date
Another waiter came up to Matt and Chloe and directed them into a private room. When the waiter left them alone, Matt finally let Chloe down.  She felt so good being on her two feet again but also hated him for carrying her against her will. "Look here, Matt! I am not your puppet! And I..." Chloe said, but stopped her sentence in the middle as the beauty of the room caught her eye. The space in the room appeared partly cut off from the noise of the premier restaurant by a gleaming oval curtain, which seemed decorated with four-thousand-five-hundred sparkling fiber optics, which fell dramatically from the ceiling. The crystal chandelier in the form of raindrops made the room more glittery and romantic. Chloe slowly twirled around, admiring the design of this room. Every single detail was breath-taking to her. She felt comfortable as the light reflected everything flawlessly. "Do you like it?" Mat

Zero percent of forgiveness
It was finally the weekend, and Jackson had planned to stay in bed for the entire morning. "Buzz!" "UMM," Jackson groans before taking his phone from the bedstand. "Good morning, Steven!" Jackson answered between sleep and awareness. "Morning, bro. Sorry for disturbing your beauty sleep. I know your night was pleasant since your wife was by your side last night. Ha, good time!" Steven stated in a cheerful tone. Jackson shifted to the right and gazed at Jennie's sleepy face. He pulls her hair behind her ears and smiles. She had not gotten a new phone, and he planned to pick up an original one that he had custom-made for her this afternoon since his schedule was free. "I am glad you know that you are interrupting my sleep. It's Saturday, so why did you call me this early?" Jackson mumbles. "Chris called me this morning. He stated that he had to take a brief tri

Tired of it all
When Jackson got into the living room, he still felt this sharp anger running through his veins. The entire house seemed like a cage to him, his body was building up tension, and the stiffness within the air made him feel like he was slowly suffocating. At that moment, all Jackson wanted was to leave the anger and the pain at home and go somewhere else. So that's what he did. Jackson left the house, got in his car, and drove off. After a three-hour drive, Jackson found himself at "Twilight Beach." He packed his car, got out of the vehicle, took off his sneakers, and walked on the sand. The moment Jackson's feet felt the heat of the sand and the sunlight on his face, he experienced a sense of relief flowing through his soul. The beach was empty at that hour, and Jackson had the entire area to himself. He felt so amazing being one with nature as he buried his feet in the sand and gazed at the bright sun reflecting its ligh

Slowly falling apart
Jennie grabbed the bag and opened it. She took out the box and removed the cover. One look at the phone made her burst into tears. It was a white phone with tiny yellow writings on the frame saying, "I love you." The loneliness in the living room made Jennie feel extra awful as she stared at both phones on the table. She only desires to own one, which is the phone Jackson bought. However, she could not reject the other since it will be at the cause of exposing her secret. "Okay, Jennie. You can fix this problem. All you need to do now is to work out everything one step at a time. Let's start with a thank you and see where the conversation goes." Jennie told herself. Jackson sat at the counter, eating a hot bowl of noodles. He sensed a presence in the kitchen and figured it was his wife. Jackson lifted his head and gazed at Jennie for a short while before focusing on his food. "Thanks for the phone, b

A child in exchange for his forgiveness
At sharp six o'clock on Wednesday, Jackson was ready to go for his morning jog. He hates to wake up early, especially in the middle of the week. But Jackson felt like his home was the last place he wanted to be, and a quick run would help clear his mind. Jennie had been lying in bed awake the entire morning. She had been experiencing sleepless nights for five days now. Jackson had not interacted with her from Saturday to Tuesday, and now it was Wednesday. Jennie knew today wouldn't be any different. She heard the guest room door open, then shut. Jennie was hoping to hear a knock on her door, but when she overheard the front door slam, her desires shattered. The light from the window shone into the room, and the wind blew the curtain open. Jennie put her bare feet on the cold floor and walked toward the window. When she looked outside, her heart ached as she watched Jackson smile with their neighbor before running toward the west wing of thei

A very broken man some day
The Yellow House felt more lonely for Jackson when he thought about his wife leaving home again when she had just arrived home weeks ago. Jackson did not know how long this next trip was going to take, but he only had to bear with her for one more year. "When will you come back from England?" Jackson asked. "I will be gone for a few days or a week but not a month because there are still some things I need to handle before coming home," Jennie explained. "Okay, you can go on this trip since it is important for your job. You should also not stress. I am not mad anymore, and I will be here waiting for you to come home to me." Jackson assured her. "I love you so much. I don't know what I did in my past life to deserve a husband like you, but I am glad that you fell in love with me." Jennie said. She then kissed Jackson before running upstairs to pack for the trip. Jackson took a seat

The biggest surprise of her life
Working hours flew by quickly, and it was five o'clock on the dot. Steven and Julie had an afternoon date, so Jackson did not have to drive Julie to their residence. He arrived home and turned on the lights. As the house lights up, Jackson feels bitter inside. History had repeated itself, and Jackson was again a lonely married man who remained devoted to his wife. All Jackson always wanted was to become a man that his father never was and care about his family like his father never did. But sometimes Jennie makes it so hard for him to be that man. He has been so lavish with his wife, allowing her to do whatever she wishes and empowering her to get away with her bad habit. And now he wonders if things were going to be different if he had been a little like his father. He dropped his keys on the sofa and went upstairs to Jennie's and his bedroom. When Jackson entered their room, there was nothing but loneliness in his eyes
