"Luci stay here," my mother sighed, pushing me down onto the couch.I frowned, huffing angrily. "I don't wanna stay here!"My father walked over with a look of exasperation on his face. "Why not?" He asked gently."Because it's awful! I'm here all alone, someone might find me and—what if you guys don't come back?" I whimpered, tugging at my shirt. My father pulled me into a quick hug and kissed the top of my head. "I know it's difficult Luci but they're expecting us. We need to go so they don't find you. You needn't be afraid, you are more powerful than any of their angels."My shoulders slumped in defeat. "Fine, I'll stay in the house," I mumbled."Thank you, now we should be back in a few hours but we might take longer. Just remember, do not leave the house under any circumstances," he said firmly.I nodded. I looked down at the floor, only glancing up when I heard the front door lock with a loud click.I stood and found myself walking to my bedroom. It was tiny, but so was the rest

"Shit Daniel, I think you completely destroyed my ribcage," I cough. I grit my teeth against the stabbing pain in my lungs and clench my fists. He frowns. "Are you trying to make me feel bad about saving your life?""Sorry, it just hurts," I mutter, giving him a small side smile.

"Yeah no.""Come on, it's not that bad.""Are you kidding me? It's fucking disgusting!" I snap, grimacing at the bowl in his hands.Daniel raises his eyebrow at me. "Would you please stop being such a bab

Two hundred and seventy-three . . . two hundred and seventy-four . . . two hundred and seventy-five . . . two hundred and seventy-six. 276 days. That’s how long Luciana was in this cell. Every day she scratched another line on the wall. I thought it was a stupid and dramatic thing to do, but after a couple of weeks I realized it’s probably the only thing that can keep you sane when you’re sitting in a stone room in total isolation. I can’t believe how sadistic these assholes are. They put me in her old cell. It hasn’t even been cleaned. There’s blood smeared on the door and a sticky puddle in the corner. I feel bile rise in my throat when I realize the blood either belonged to Luciana, or they’ve succumbed other people to this torture. I suppose it had to be the latter. It's too damn fresh. My jaw clenches at the sound of the door hinges creaking. The guard angel stalks inside the cell, his painted blue wings held stiff and proud like the good little soldier he is. He takes the

“You should just turn your property into a hospital,” I chuckle. “If you continue to be a moron, I may have to,” Logan mutters in annoyance. “Oh, come on I’m just trying to make sure you have something to do. I mean you must get bored as hell being out here by yourself, what do you even do?” “Nothing.” “Exactly.” He sighs, shaking his head. “Doing nothing is quite enjoyable. As is being alone.” “You don’t get tired of it?” I ask. “After your parents died, I did nothing for nearly ten years. Then you showed up here again and I can say my life has not improved.” I scowl. “Are you still mad that I brought Diana here?” “Yes. And I am upset that you injured yourself and caused your mate and your friend injury as well. Now you expect me to fix all three of you.” “I’m sorry, you’re just too good at it." He shakes his head, letting out an irritated sigh. “I am going to go hunting, don’t you dare get up,” he growls. My leg still throbs from when I did just that a few hours ago. “Bel
