“Dexter!” Mr Burkley greeted him once he spotted him around the corner from the front yard. His house was built miles away from the city right inside the wild because he had a thing for privacy and of course, the environment. It was a two storey house with a beautiful garden in the back and tall eucalyptus trees that had climbers running up their trunks to provide for a thick border around the house. Dexter remembered once coming over with his father when he was younger and playing near the pond in the heart of the garden, but those days were long over and now, he came with more pressing matters.Dexter tried to keep his face neutral as he got closer to the older man, who had been his father’s friend and still kept contact with the Black. “I never thought that I would ever see you step o

Anelia tried to calm her heart as much as she could. There was this had this anxiety that wouldn’t subside. She rubbed her chest as of that would somehow aid in relieving the horrible feeling. A shaky breath of air left her lips as she sat with her legs folded on the couch that was now her favourite; the one that faced the entrance.  The night before Dexter had only managed to come back and pack a small bag with a few of his clothes, kissed her goodbye and flown out to Italy. Such was the life of a businessman and it certainly took a lot to get used to. But, the problem wasn’t the normal way he lead his life but what she had watched on the news.   A private jet had reportedly crashed on its way out of Italy and accord

Anelia dragged her feet over to the bathroom and took a shower. Morning had arrived way too early and she wasn’t feeling too motivated to wake up and do much but Brett was right, she had to be stay strong for Dexter. She wouldn’t be helping herself in any way if she abandoned her health.   She stepped out and wiped the large bathroom mirror to look at herself. She looked horrible, to say the least. Her eyes were red and her face bloated from all the crying. The bags underneath her eyes made her want to never show herself to humankind again.  She twisted her neck to look at the hickeys that he had peppered over her neck but mostly over her breasts. She touched them and sighed as she dried herself up with little to no energy. “Hey, you aren’t dying in there right?” A shrill voice shouted the question out, consequently banging on the door.

Her heart beat faster as she stared at the man she cared immensely about looking at her like she was a stranger and she had no business being in his room. “Dexter, what do you mean? What’s wrong?” She reached her hand out to touch his arm but he pulled his hand back. He looked at her with a blank look on his face and scanned her with a etched on his face. “How do you know my name?” He asked her, looking at her a tinge of curiosity and hard, set. A hard, set pair of eyes that she remembered very well back when they first encountered each other. “Why are acting like this? It’s me, Anelia,” she put her hands over her chest and waited for him to recognise her but his scowl deepened. “You know me, Dexter. I...” he didn’t hide how impatient he was getting as he hissed.“Don’t patronise me,” he barked, clearly

Anelia stood outside the VIP hospital room with different flowers than she had brought yesterday. There were many reasons why she should not have been standing there but she had gathered her courage and come to the central hospital. She was not there simply as Anelia Telford but as a woman with a purpose; a woman who came to fight for her love. If it took being a maid to endeavour to get him to remember her, so be it.She plastered a smile on her face and internally thanked Brett and Dave again for keeping her in the loop about all the details regarding Dexter; minor and major. How, for example, she knew that he had now been changed to a more private wing of the hospital was all thanks to them. With a knock, she stormed in and closed the doo

It had been two weeks already and if Dexter wasn’t teasing her or just annoying her for no reason, he was his moody self and coming in really late or not at all.  Anelia was sitting cross-legged from Natie and was busy helping her with her homework. “Here, this is how you can easily remember the nine times table.” Natie curiously looked at her as Anelia raised her hands.   “Nine times one, you take down your thumb. There you have it, nine but that’s an obvious one. Let’s move on to nines times two, you take down the second finger. See, I’m left with my thumb and eight more this side. So, that’s eighteen.”  “Woah, that’s so much easier,” she immediately started to use the method to calculate on her own, her face lighting up at the new information. “I don&rsquo

“Emma, I don’t need you to come over because it’s late as it is and I don’t want to trouble you. Look, I told you I can feel it in my bones that he’s not coming back tonight,” she said to her friend, as she peeked downstairs and tried to listen out for any movement that would prove that he was around, but it was silent and the lights were off, as she has left them earlier when she had retreated to her room.  “You know, if you want some privacy to sex that man up, then say so,” Emma drawled, sounding very amused. “Will you stop with your wild imagination. How can I sex him up when he does not even remember who I am and I have been staying out of his way, remember?”  “People don’t need to know each other in

Dexter was a shameless man and he was well aware of it. If he hadn’t been one, perhaps he would have allowed himself to feel the slightest bit of remorse for his actions but he didn’t. At least, not for the two women he was stringing along for his own benefit.  He smiled at the tall woman beside him. She was a beauty, that was for sure but the truth about her was still missing from his mind and he couldn’t forget that for a second. “I hope this is your kind of scene,” he murmured in her ear and she shook with awareness. He smiled; she might have denied it but the chemistry was still present and there was no denying it.  “Scene?” She repeated, shifting slightly to maintain a safe distance between them. “It is your birthday party,

Dexter had meant to follow Anelia out and corner her somewhere along the way about something that he had managed to seem very unbothered about. However, he didn’t knot that the woman could be very swift. She was nowhere to be seen.   He decided to walk in the direction of the restroom. That’s when he heard the loud slap. His eyes widened and he wondered if he should intervene with whatever was happening inside but he decided that he could not just budge into the toilet. He was still contemplating on what to do when someone shouted.   “How dare you! You’re just a stupid and poor girl. How dare you insult me like this? You know nothing about me or my history with Dexter Black! You know nothing about what happened.” He immediately recognised that voi

Dexter smiled wolfishly when Freda opened the door. She stepped aside and gestured for him to come in. “I didn’t think you were serious when you said you would be stopping by,” she closed the door to her apartment and looked at him expectantly. “What brings you here so early?”Dexter took his time to look around. This was no cheap place and it definitely was not located in a cheap location. “I’m here to talk to you about something that has been bothering me lately. I can sit, right?” He pointed to the wide couch and she nodded her head. “Sure, but tell me that it has something to do with that crazy woman. I hope you didn’t let her off the hook easily. She ought to be put in her place.” Dexter silently watched how her calm look cracked for a moment and he saw the unmistakable hate in her
