Lahat ng Kabanata ng Rachel's Wolf: Kabanata 61 - Kabanata 70

“Alive?” Rachel gasped in surprise. “Vivianne’s daughter… is alive? Where the hell is she then? Do you have her locked away somewhere?”She heard Stefano’s sharp intake of breath and when she looked his way, his expression was beyond incredulous. This was all they needed. Another one of Sophia’s secrets. How did she ever expect her sons to accept her as their mother, when a new skeleton tumbled out of her closet, every 5 seconds? Just how many secrets did this woman have?“By the Moon Goddess, Sophie,” Stefano said. “What have you done?”Sophia had the good sense, to at least keep her eyes downcast, in a guarded measure of shame. It was obvious that she never expected this secret to see the light of day. Vivianne spilling the beans, threw an unexpected wrench in her plans, to keep it under wraps.“She’s here, in Colby’s Cove,” Sophia answered. “I’ve been keeping an eye on her, ever since I spared her life. It gives me no pleasure to say, but I indeed planned to kill her, but when I s

“That’s a beautiful name,” Sophia answered. “Tell me sweetheart, do you know where your mommy and daddy are?”Melora absentmindedly stuck her thumb in her mouth, deep in thought for all intents and purposes and Sophia felt another wave of guilt wash over her. Why was she engaging in small talk with the bastard? Why couldn’t she just take out the dagger and end her, as she’d planned? It seemed the little girl wakened her maternal instincts. Instead of wanting to kill her, now she wanted to protect her.“Miss Chrissy says they went to heaven,”Melora said softly. “She says I must be a good girl without them.”Sophia resisted the urge to pull her into a tight hug. This child, this little girl, was literally the embodiment of the betrayal she’d suffered. Mercy was not to be her destiny. When she looked Sophia in the eyes once more, though, Sophia couldn’t help but see her own children, reflected in her eyes.“Does Miss Chrissy treat you well?”Melora nodded. “She gives me lots of treats.

Galen sat on the edge of the bed, as the harsh fluorescent light on the ceiling, made a static noise, surely in the throes of death. The motel they’d found was dingy, but it would have to make do. Neither he or Jax were rolling in cash, and he would sooner go broke before asking Sophia to help them.He knew she would without question, after all, she was playing the concerned mother to the hilt, but after the phone call he had with Rachel a few minutes ago, it only strengthened his resolve to be wary of his long lost mother. He was in disbelief throughout the entire call. Sophia had really hidden Vivianne’s daughter in plain sight and fooled everyone in the process. Including Stefano, her alleged best friend. Galen couldn’t help but feel compassion towards Stefano. Sophia had thrown his life into disarray, something she seemed quite comfortable doing.Galen reached for the bottle of beer on the nightstand, swigging it down like water. He couldn’t get drunk, so that’s what it basically

Opening her front door the following morning, Rachel was a little more than surprised, to see Sophia standing on her porch. The silence between them was uncomfortable, to say the least. How else would it be between them, after the bomb Sophia dropped the previous night? Melora was Vivianne’s daughter, a morsel of information Sophia had conveniently forgotten to share with them.Rachel nervously glanced back. She hadn’t heard Stefano at all yet. She hoped he was out for a walk. Sophia was the last person he wanted to see right now. His Alpha, his best friend, had a hand in the biggest betrayal of his life, and it was up to him to break the news to Melora. Rachel did not envy his conflict at all. No one knew how Melora would react, knowing she was the daughter of two bloodthirsty killers. Rachel prayed Stefano would be able to handle it. With everything going on, Sophia’s latest secret, only added to the seemingly insurmountable odds they were already facing.“I know I’m the last person

“Before I do though,” Collette continued, while turning to Rachel, “don’t you owe Sophia an answer? The reason you joined her on this outing was to see if I would be truthful, was it not?”Rachel swallowed back her surprise. Why Collette’s question caught her off guard, was a mystery. Sophia warned her beforehand the witch was shrewd and cunning. She was probably on to their little ruse the moment they walked in.Rachel composed herself with a deep breath. “She’s telling the truth, Sophia. I sense no malice or deceit on her part.”Watching Sophia and Collette walk towards the house, Rachel finally allowed herself to relax. The morning had been eventful,to say the least. The animosity between the Alpha and the High Priestess appeared to be many years in the making, for more than one reason. Especially the one smiling her way.“It’s an experience, having those two in close quarters,” Beau laughed. “They hate each other passionately, but there’s also a deep and grudging respect between th
