Chapter Forty Eight.
"Not yet, your majesty." She scrutinized, as she plastered a half-smile at me. Maybe waiting to confirm whether I would flare up and finally either punch her right in the place that would hurt, or roar in anger and consume the souls of them all. I only returned a false smile to her as a reply. Not the obvious type that showed the tremendous effort in the making of the smile, but the kind that contoured the pretence in the smile. She wasn't supposed to see me getting upset because I wasn't upset with her at all. She wasn't supposed to feel a tiny percentage of my transferred rage. "But, Kerik?" Mona called, and my heart nearly sank. She shot a piercing look at me and smiled with teary eyes. I almost bursted out into tears but quickly calmed myself and tried assuring my mind that it wasn't really my fault. I was fixing this. "You said you had a dream about how we could save Ragnila, and your sister as well. And Lavi. How... How do we save them exactly?"

Chapter Forty Nine.
"I'm sorry that I haven't been the best of a leader to you all." I sniffed before each words, before controlling myself to try and limit the tears from coming down my eyes. But as I tried more and more from stopping those eyes from watering further, the pool of tears proved to be stronger than all the power left in me. I couldn't control myself, as the pain weakened all the nerves in my body, leaving crying as the only option left to do. "I tried so much, but she's not here. I miss her so so much.""I know. I know you do." Mona agreed. She sniffed in the last bit of what seemed to be hurt and smiled calmly. I had no other choice than to wipe away those hurting tears as well, and focus truly on what mattered at the moment. Friends. Family. "So, what signs did you observed?""Well, it was unlike Tara to had spoken the way that she did." I shared my suspicion and ambled back to my seat. They both flashed a dazzled glare at me and studied me as I sat do

She smiled after observing the still silent that remained on my face. "Kerik, you need to connect to the people, otherwise, they'll only hate you and fear you. At least, let them love and fear you. Those two, they're different you know." Back then, Mona said the most reasonable thing I'd ever heard anyone told me before. She was completely right because all I wanted was the happiness for these people. I deeply want to be a good queen, to save lives. Also, I knew I couldn't do it alone. So I needed to be the voice for these people, to be able to speak for them and get supports from the armies."I deeply understand what you're trying to say. But I am not throwing a ball. At least not now." I declared."You could throw a feast too." Lily suggested."Maybe. Though for now, I want to fix this issue of saving those infected with the plague." I said, and they both agreed with my decision with a gentle nodding. "Then, I need to co

Chapter Fifty One.
"Hold your attack! It's the Royal Highness of this kingdom." I tried defending myself, but instead she took another step forward and dragged my hair up, twisting my neck to turn against my will, facing my face to the screeching sun. "Ow!" I instantly felt a strand of my hair, tugged out. "Stop it, or face my wrath and perish-" I immediately stopped at the pathetic threat after remembering the words of Mona, advising me not to depend on my power all the time while dealing with the villagers. With that thought, I threw my dangling hands to locate her waist, but my hands found moving extremely difficult at the moment, since I just had to twist my wrist over to where her stomach was, and even if I achieved at that, I couldn't punch her in that uncomfortable position. She mumbled some words that sounded like, "Stey put, will yau?" Or something like that, and drove more effort into completely breaking NY neck in two. Left with the second option in my head that didn't really needed my hand

"But, I need you. You need me to solve the issue with these septic. Then, your blood, you, you're so powerful." She stared at me like I were a breakfast, lunch and dinner to a person who hadn't had any meal in lots of years back."Leave freely now while you still can." I left her from the position she stood in and turned back to leave, instantly got encountered with a septic. "Watch out!" The strange lady screeched out, but I wasn't surprised by the sudden visit of those septics. I had even cured one the other day at the palace. All I needed to do was just to get closer to him and make a direct contact. Then he would be cured. He dragged forward, with multiple long snakelike related creatures dangling on his head. "Are you crazy, your Majesty!" I heard her yelled from below but still chose to ignore. These infected people weren't too deadly as others have been exaggerating. They were just people. Three more feet left, and it would all be over. His eyes were already dead and every shade the sky possessed from dawn until dusk, in his dead eyes, they were black. Hispupils exploded to fill so much of the eyes. I remembered when they probably used to blink, to sit up and laugh and live life normally like humans were supposed to. But that time, he wouldn't. His eyes were just so still. After what seemed to be for eternity, he finally wobbled to my front. Then just as fast as the blink of an eyes, he lunged what seemed to had been an attack on me. At first, it wasn't too much of a chaos since he would be making a direct contact with him and we would all be happy at the end. But things began to grow out of hands. His firm grasp were the first strangle I felt on my neck, till his other hand scrolled through my body, trying to place my body calm as if one was about to be used for a sacrifice. Then I saw why as soon as the slimy snakes on his head stood up. Don't get me wrong he

"But there could had been another way." I tried explaining my point again—pointless one at that. He probably would had killed me for real."The sickness spreads so fast your majesty. And if I hadn't killed him and he attacked you, you would had been infected. Now that he's dead, a few others he's infected would be cured by now." The guard continued explaining but non of it made sense to me. How the so called plague had started, why it's just claiming the lives of these people, and even worse, how to stop it. My head was so heavy for thoughts that even a big boulder of rock would have had to be lighter at the moment."Your Majesty?" A girl's voice caught my attention again and I soon observed it to be the strange lady, with her big eyes falling directly at mine. I wasn't what you would exactly call tall, but I wasn't also short so I always got the nickname petite Kerik when I was still a little bit younger, and that truly defined me b

At least if there was one thing she wasn't lying about, it was that she didn't wanted to loose her friend. I definitely understood what she meant, and never would I allow her to loose a dear one, just as I'd did."Okay. So, let us say that I believe what you're saying, how exactly are we supposed to help this friend of yours? I asked."I don't know!" Her voice went off and she instantiated turned her back, as if she was crying and she didn't wanted me to notice. "I don't know exactly." She said, then finally returned her face to meet mine. "That is why I'd like to meet you, to talk to you. You're somehow the cure. That's all I know." She said it was all she knew, as if she was supposed to know more than that. I secretly wondered if she was a small goddess in disguise. "What do you mean, all you know?" She paused and flashed a puzzled awkwardly looking glance at me. "I'm listening.""I don't really know, but I'
