Chapter Fifty One
It was a new day at the agency, her plan was still in motion, but she had thought about a bargain seeing as it was impossible to come up with that ridiculous amount of money Simon Tunes demanded in such a short time. She was in her office going through some papers when one of her colleagues came knocking in request for her help with a field work as she had a lot on her plate. Harper had been way too sweet in her request, Theresa didn't know when her lips mouthed the words of acceptance despite the fact that she equally had a lot on her plate as well. "Oh God, why did I say yes?" She threw her head back in frustration, resting it on the black leather office boss chair, when Harper had left. It wasn't as bad as she thought it would be; coming back to the agency to hear rumours about her having affairs with both Robert and Sam. Well technically, the thing with Sam wasn't an affair of the sort most of them were thinking. It was more of an emotional affair which she

Chapter Fifty Two
The street was rather calm compared to it's pretty normal bubbling especially at this hour. Usually, there would be a few buses arriving at the station to meet what might be a hundred people all vying to get a seat or just an accommodation to stand. The rush was always hectic. Then, there's the cabs with ridiculous amounts for a distance the buses wouldn't charge nearly half.      Theresa had always fancied riding in cabs because of the comfort and serenity. But today, it wasn't so. Unlike usual, the bus station was quite empty — as in half or quarter of the hundred — so there were enough buses to accommodate everyone, including her.      After exiting Dan's office, she spent close to half an hour finishing up a couple of things before retiring for the day. She was about the last set of people to leave. It was a only a few minutes after seven when she did. It didn't seem like it was going to rain any soon bu

Chapter Fifty Three
On the weekend, Saturday to be precise, Theresa was gearing up for Anna's birthday party. It was actually going to be a dinner like occasion. She had thought about ditching and coming up with a liable excuse that Paul would be so overwhelmed by, he would forget all about her 'no show' after promising to be there. But on second thought, Theresa decided that feeling as she used to involves going to stuffs like this especially when it involves her favorite buddy in the agency. She decided she needed to let her thoughts go over something other than the excruciatingly depressing usual in the past weeks. She felt like she deserved that fun, even if for just a bit. And hell, her over analytic insides wouldn't dare stop her. Not today.      Plus, she'd been waiting for an opportunity to wear this dress she got on a spree for half the ridiculously exorbitant price — for hundred dollars, which, she would never admit it to herself, was totally

Chapter Fifty Four
As she stared at herself in the mirror, she tried recalling what exactly prompted her to say yes. Why she had agreed to go out to dinner with Dan McKay, she wouldn't understand. But she did anyway. Last night. When the closing minutes of Anna's birthday party was upon them, Dan offered to take Theresa home, not exactly comfortable with the idea of her commuting at that hour. She accepted the kind gesture, as that is what she only saw it to be. And no, she wasn't drunk. The ride to her apartment was fun, actually. She laughed a lot with him, smiled genuinely with him. He was a pretty good conversationalist and she loved that. The moment that made the difference though, was when they reached the apartment building. She had just said her goodbyes and climbed out of the car. An unsatisfied Dan didn't feel at ease letting her go like that. So, he slipped out of the car as well, following Theresa into the building in the guise of walking her in despite her protests. W

Chapter Fifty Five
When it was over a week of working at Havens Cloud Agency again, Theresa planned to ask for the advance pay. And today marked that date. The drop date was Sunday, six days from now. So, no matter how complicated things between her and Sam is, she was going to have to ask anyway. That morning, after she had arrived at the agency, she took her time to construct a perfect letter in regards to this cause. The lie she had come up with, was that she needed to renovate her apartment. It sounded believable to her, so why wouldn't it to he? Plus, he wouldn't know that the whole renovating her apartment thing was a charade, because her apartment does look like a place that needs a well to do renovation and he (Sam) has been there. She added the last full stop, and quickly scanned through it to ensure there wasn't any error before printing it out. She folded the sheet and slotted it into an envelope which she sealed."Good morning, Emilia." Theresa greeted, w

Chapter Fifty Six
Three o'clock, the next day, Theresa still hadn’t received a reply in regards to the letter she sent out yesterday. Unlike yesterday, Sam didn’t have any outdoor meetings to attend. Matter of fact, he didn’t have any meetings at all. Theresa had turned to a hawk overnight, she might even applaud herself as a generational descendant of Sherlock Holmes, because she has been doing a very wonderful job, both watching and sometimes, discreetly following Sam. At least enough to know the aforementioned. He had been in the agency all day. And she was almost certain he should have read the letter.Of course a few other explanations popped up in her head. Emilia did say she left the envelope on his desk. What were the odds he just pushed it in to a stack of files, magazines, folders? Or he didn’t think it was something important enough to see immediately and had probably forgotten about it? Or the wind came and the envelope went with it?Okay, the last one sounded dumb. His office windo

And I should have listened to you.”Theresa finally heed to her mother’s advice to put a call through this her father. When she had come home from the agency, she was soaked. It had rained for the better part of her journey home and the bus she was able to board dropped her off at it’s last stop; two blocks away. So, she had to walk the rest of the way. Tears were dropping down her cheek as the feelings of regret began to creep in. The words of her father, as well as William began to creep in, making her feel even more miserable. The only thought in her head was, “I shouldn’t have met him.” It all ended in hearts and roses. William was right. She should have refuses that job offer. Her father was right. She should never have left of for the city. But all that was too late. She felt like she had made a terrible mistake and there was no coming back from it.Now, Simon Tunes was

Chapter Fifty Eight
It was one of the many thoughts that came to her head. Though this one seemed to be the only one that didn’t sound dumb to her. The door flew open immediately she gently knocked on it. A lady in her thirties or so was the one who came to get the door. She was looking at Theresa, expecting to put in a word, although she didn’t. She was busy weighing whether this was a bad choice.“Can I help you miss?” Theresa snapped out of her thoughts, making eye contact with the woman who was already growing impatient. She looked away and tucked the strand of hair the breeze had blown into her face. “Uhm — My name is Theresa. Theresa Gray.”The woman had this look which said, 'am I supposed to know that?’ “Okay. . .?” she jeered impatiently.“Uh — I’m sorry. I’m just uh —” she stuttered. Maybe she should just go back. She was already feeling ba

Chapter Fifty Nine
A plan was in motion. William had gotten in contact with Vera who wouldn’t stop yapping about what a dumb decision it was — Theresa succumbing to Simon Tunes’ threat. Also expressing her disappointment in the fact that she allowed the situation take that long before alerting the cops, albeit promising to be discreet about the whole situation, as proposed. Theresa on the other hand, simply muttered a 'hmm' each time she spoke over the phone. No way this woman was adding to the boiling exasperation she has been feeling for days. Two days. It was two days to the drop date and ultimately, the end of the week. She had been working well, having less to worry about haven let in William and Vera on what was going on. The only thing that would make all of this better was getting past this in a couple of days time and settling her long overdue issues with Sam before something even worse happens again as seemingly, everything has been going wrong when it

It was probably for the best Sam knew that he had been used as a bargaining chip with the devil himself. Now, amidst all the complications between him and Theresa, she knew William was right. She had to let him know. And for the past couple of days, it had mostly been about the how, to go actually go about this. It wasn’t until last night that she decided to just take the piss, and let it all out. After all, things between them were already as bad as she could have ever imagined. Though she knew there was always too for worse. It could get worse today, it could be the opposite — although the outcome of this was a short one. Either ways, he had to know, in the least. So that evening, before she retired from the agency for the day, she decided to speak to him about the whole situation with Simon Tunes that had gone by in the last week, and then some days. She saw him go into his office after getting a cup of coffee from the lounge. And no, she hadn’t
