The Count Rides With Her
“Bye Asty!”  The young girl waved her hands in response to Noelle’s goodbyes. “Bye Noelle! Bye Mrs. Pickinns!”  The elderly tailor gave her a smile and waved her hands too. “Goodbye Asthenosthene.” The navigator of the carriage hopped aboard and prepared the horses. Asty listened carefully to the sound of the cart’s cogs as the wheel started to spun. She gazed outside and whispered to herself. “I’ll miss you guys.”  Chaol listened and observed her. Her lips were tightly pursed in a line, a sign that she was somehow uncomfortable. He noticed how she tugged her sleeves to hide her hands as if she was cold. “Asthenosthene.”&

Unbearable Tension
Silence remained in the air. The navigator tried so hard not to eavesdrop on their conversation, but from where he sat, he could hear everything from the gaping window. He sighed and yelled at the two from the front. “Get a room, will you?!”  The Count and Asty widened their eyes, realizing the position they were in. He gently loosened her wrists from his palms and returned to his seat as if nothing happened. Asty remained wordless throughout the duration of their transport.

Two Lords, One Human
The King's rival insinuates a question. "What exactly is 'disappointment' to you? I do not believe you understand this word. You are a man who have succeeded behind belief in such a short span of time."  The King didn't know whether he would be flattered with his sarcastic compliment. "Disappointment. It's a simple term. If she bears dislike towards you, then I'd be disappointed." "And then what?" Chaol demanded an answer. "If she dislikes me, what would you do?" "Then you'll know." King Garland replied almost instantly. Confidence was evident in his firm words. Chaol decided to retreat for bit. "I'll know what exactly?" "You ask too many questions Count, as if you've never lived enough."

Chaol's Hidden Castle
Beneath the moonlight, two figures sprint amongst the rustling trees, leaping from branch to branch while following the dusty trail.  "How long do you think we can get there?" Yvonne asked her partner who was ahead of her.  "In a few minutes or so." "I wanna guess. Is it 60 minutes?" Yvonne sarcastically whined. Owl didn't reply and shot her a glare. "Just keep moving." "Oh come on, Owl!" Yvonne glided her arms and grabbed a twig from the branches. She accelerated further until she met Owl's and then threw the twig on him. "Can we just ride in the carriage too? This is making me exhausted!"&nbs

Corridors
Asty found herself in the middle of the meadows. Little dandelions riding along with the blow of the breeze. She was in a vast clearing. She was in a field of buttercups.  Asty could feel her toes brush against the razor-sharp grass. She focused her gaze on her feet. Where were her shoes? Her soles started to bleed and soon enough she had painted the green canvas into a dark shade of red.  She frantically gazes up, she expected to find the field's horizons ahead of her, but instead, she found herself on a battlefield. Everything was red.  She took two steps backward and suddenly she hits something solid behind her. She turned around.  It was Chaol. And he was unstoppable.

Breakfast With Him
Asty opened her eyes slowly as the rays of sunlight continued to leak behind the curtains. The chirping of birds could be heard faintly from behind the opened window.    Asty sat straight and rubbed her eyes. She then stretched out her arms and yawned. She was still tired, but her sleep seemed enough.    She got out of the mattress and neatly arranged her blankets. It was the first time she had ever slept so comfortably. Her mattress back at the village was hard as rock, but in here, it was so soft.    She even had her very own comfort room!   Asty ran her eyes around her room. It was spacious. She had a big bed and a huge antique wardrobe, beside it was a spotless, beautiful mirror. She had two shelves with contained books. A painting

A New Enemy
THE NIGHT OF ASTY AND CHAOL'S DEPARTURE As soon as their carriage had left the palace grounds, King Vaughn immediately summoned the Captain of the Guards, Victor Ironfield. The King's mind was in complete disarray, he was incredibly shaken by Chaol's waggery. Though he hid how his knees shook under his robes, he was sure that the balls of sweat forming under her crown was evident throughout his conversation with the count.  "Your Majesty," the captain croaked from behind him. "What do we do now? We are losing them." He gritted his teeth bitterly. 'Lose them? Am I really going to lose them?' he thought. "I can still send my guards to follow them. Please give me your orders, Your Majesty!"&nbs

Asthenosthene's Identity
Asty walked along the lonely corridors of Chaol's premises. It was daytime and yet everything around her seemed so quiet and passive.  Daytime in her village was like chaos. Everybody would wake up to the sound of people yelling and animals moaning. If she were to walk along with the farms and square, her ears would be bombarded by the sound of carts and fishermen yelling at the passersby to buy their goods. She was not used to such a quiet environment. No yelling. No children laughing. No whispers about her. Just plain silence and the chirping of birds.  Asty continued to drag her feet. She was alone. Chaol had excused himself that he was going to rest and had only accompanied her for breakfast. The maid earlier too, excused herself that she was going to sleep.

Surnames
Asty remained still as his broad arms held her tightly. She stared directly into his eyes which made her feel like she was drowning. Those deep ocean blue eyes pierced into her very soul as he continued to scrutinize her further. "C-Chaol..." she called out to him gently. "What do you mean by that?" He loosened his grip from her and allowed her to breathe. Asty took a step backward, her eyes still locked on to the male. "I don't understand." "Your blood," he bellowed. "is special to me." Asty lowered her head and looked at her arms. "This blood... running in my veins, is it the reason why you bought me?" Chaol smiled. "I only need a little portion of it—"

The Maid
Even from behind the huge tree pots, Asthenosthene could still be clearly seen from behind them, sneaking. It has been half an hour since Asty had stayed hidden behind these huge pots, pretending to be unseen amongst the darkness. She could see her clearly from behind her as she was washing the dishes at the sink. Asty's terrible attempt at hiding was clearly reflected upon the maid's glass plate. She heaved a sigh and continued to ignore Asty, playing along with her tactics.  Asty remained hidden, intently looking at the maid with curious, gleaming eyes. "I want to be friends with her!" she mumbles under her breath. The maid turned around and pretended not to see her while placing the finished plates inside the cupboards. The maid then took off her white apron (which was impossibly stainless) and folded
