Just your palms
I raised my hand, black haze snaked around my hand and bolted to Seagale with the speed of lightning. The haze entered the water, increasing the current of the whirling and turning the clean water black. Seagale let out a frightening scream. Whatever I was doing to her was extremely agonising. I inhaled the air, taking in their fears and listening to her screams and the frightful murmurs of students around. I moaned as the pleasure of their fear shook my body. It felt so good. "Marinette, stop this, now!" I heard someone yell. I looked at the person, she looked familiar. She didn't matter, what mattered was me killing my victim and taking her soul. "Marinette, please," she pleaded. "It's me, Marielle, your sister," "Oh? Is that why you look so familiar?" I asked with a cackle. I could hear ten more voices speaking simultaneously with mine. "Marinette, stop," Leaf pleaded. "Whatever the friend is doing, stop it before she hurts someone," A cat girl added pleadingly. "Marinette," I

Seeing the dead
"Marinette," I heard people whispering into my ears in singsongs; echoing singsongs. "Wake up, Marinette," I opened my eyes sharply, an unfamiliar face above mine. I scanned his body down. I was quite terrified by the fact that he was light blue with no legs, no neck, just a head and a shirtless torso. I opened my mouth like a fish out of water. "Don't scream," he whispered. "Just sit up quietly," I closed my eyes and reopened them but he was still there. "I'm not disappearing, I'm a ghost, like a dead bodiless ghost." Is there any other name for it?! "We all are!!!" I flinched, jolting up at the echo of shouts. Ghosts were everywhere, some with normal skin colour and a few with blue or green skin. "Please, don't scream!" They echoed. "After staying here for long, I don't think getting scared is an option," I sighed, rubbing my throbbing forehead. The teenage boy who was floating above me descended. "What happened to you?" "I died, duh." "She meant how you died, stupid," A girl s

I missed you
I sauntered down the stairs with a flutter fan in my left hand. I could hear chattering coming from the living room. I could make out Elle's voice trying to silence Gomez's deep baritone which was standing out amongst the noise. It seems like he was having a serious argument with Twyla. I could make out two more voices, strange voices and Dermot's. He wasn't supposed to be around. Didn't Elle break up with him? How long was yesterday? Everyone quieted down the moment I walked in, all blinking their eyes with shock like it was a surprise I was alive. I roamed my eyes around and spotted the two strangers; a centaur and a guy with a fish head. The awkwardness keeps getting more interesting. "Rinette," Ace squealed, running out of the kitchen. "Rinette!" He was already hugging me before I could blink. He cupped my face before I could speak again. "Are you okay now? Feeling any single pain? Aches? Dizziness?" "Ace, she passed out, she didn't have a building fall on top of her, geez!" Tha

Darcy – the library
Leaf pushed the leaves and branches out of our way as she walked ahead. Liliane, being a good friend, came with us. We ditched school before the third period, so we could be back before school ended. I didn't want to bother anyone else with my problem, especially Ace. He was going to take his final exams soon and I didn't want to bother him more than I already have. That's what a good girlfriend would do; we're dating now. "Any idea where exactly we are going?" Ann asked, shaking off a spider from her leg. I shrugged. "Then how do we get to where we don't know we are going?" "I know," Leaf whispered, "the trees and animals whispered it to me. We are heading to the western side of the forest, that is where it is." "So, what else are we to know?" I asked. "I doubt it will be that easy," "It won't be hard getting there but going back will be an impossible task," Leaf said, stretching her hands up. Three vines danced down and entangled themselves around her hands. "We better get there

Darcy — stupid test
"Ann, think you can connect to any form of pure water there? Use it to open the barrier a little?" "Water and electricity are not the best of friends," she reminded me. "That's the point," Darcy said with a snap of her fingers. "That's the point," I repeated, snapping my fingers as well. "You don't have to copy me, pipsqueak. Don't take my glory," I rolled my eyes. "Tell that twig girl to use that plant to assist your water angel," My lips dropped into a frown. If I could glare at her, I would. "Leaf is not a twig," I said defensively. "Twig, trees, same thing," she said nonchalantly. I rolled my eyes again and then looked at Ann who had her eyes closed. She opened her eyes and shook her head negatively. "No pure water, just filthy ones," "Hey, why not try using the ones in those spell catchers?" Leaf asked with excitement, pointing at three flowers that were shaped like a dragon's mouth. One was pure white, the other was white and red with the red standing out the most and t

You are more important
Seeing and communicating with the dead, was the one thing I easily got used to. It felt like my normal; my awkward normal. For the rest of the month, I kept to myself and stayed locked up in my room reading my book and digesting each spell. I meditated on it until I knew half of the book like the back of my palms. I was too afraid to go outside, not just because I was afraid of how the students would see me, but because I had also been busy helping the ghosts that were in my room. I learnt how to perform rituals, learnt how to use my telekinesis and also found out that aside from my powers as a shadow witch, I had some other witch powers from my grandmother. So, I also worked on it. The secret to most of my dark spells was my blood, hair or tears. It was nice. I spent so much time indoors that I barely ate. If it wasn't for Elle who always barged into my room and forced the food down my throat and Ace who came in to drag me out for a break, I wouldn't have stepped out for almost thre

The princesses
"So? Are you the spirit Terra talked to me about? Ivy related?" She nodded. "My name is Princess Sibyl of Twilight Myth," "Princess? I thought the king only had a son?" "I'm a princess of old Twilight, Vamperville as it was called then. That was about five hundred years ago," she explained, making a gesture I just couldn't read. "Okay, so you died hundreds of years ago?" "Yes, you know Queen Rida Red, right?" "The greatest queen in vampire history?" She nodded calmly. She spoke with nonchalance and sophistication, like a true princess. Her Irish accent stood out and it made me wonder how exactly her accent was Irish. "As you were told, Queen Rida Red gave out Twilight Castle to be used as a school, right?" "So the history book says," I said with a shrug. "Lies! All lies!" She suddenly shouted. "I don't understand, what do you mean?" I asked puzzledly. "The queen never gave it out, she loved this castle as much as she loved her daughters…" "The queen had daughters?" "She di

I made my way to Marielle's class, the wind gushing against my skin and whistling into my ears as I flew with speed to her. My wind forced the door open, sending it flying open with an aggressive bang on the wall. Everyone inside gasped and when I flew in, they gasped more. I looked around for Elle, straining my eyes frantically to find my sister. "Who are you?" The teacher, a creepy crab-like man with a steel body, asked bravely like I was a threat. "Marinette," Elle called as she stepped out from the back of the auditorium. I flew to her, shifting back to me before landing in front of her. I surprised her with a hug, one filled with worry and fear. "Whoa! What's wrong?" "Please don't leave me, no one can take you away from me, you are all I have in this world. Please don't leave me," I sobbed. "I'm not going anywhere, Rinette, I'm right here for you. What did you see? Did I die?" I shook my head negatively. "Did I abandon you?" "No, it…it…" I broke into tears again. "Sir, can I

The search
Terrified. That is what I would use to clarify how I felt back then. I was afraid of the unknown, afraid of what I would find, what I would meet and what might happen. I had no clue or any idea what it was but I knew it wasn't going to be easy. Marielle drove us to school slower than her usual driving speed. She was lost in thought like I was. "Marinette," she called softly. I turned my attention from the window to her. "Are you alright?" "Yeah, are you?" "Nervous. Are you nervous too?" "Terrified," I said with a nervous laugh. She laughed too and cleared her throat. I'd decided it was time I spoke to her about Ace. I knew she had feelings for him, I was tired of convincing myself that she didn't. I needed to know my stand with him, I needed to set things straight before I hated the one person that had always been there for me. I needed to do it. "Elle, remember how we promised each other to not keep secrets from each other? Secrets that would hurt us if found out on our own?" "A

Jealousy – well, it has begun
Elle shouted from somewhere. Before I could call on Ace, I was already with Elle. I growled at him and hit his chest. "What?" "Stop using your speed on me without permission," I huffed. "It makes me dizzy," "Oh," he chuckled and dropped me down roughly, my butt landing painfully on the ground. "Ow!" I shouted. "What was that for?!" He shrugged. "Improvising," eh? What the hell! "So fun!" Leaf squealed. She was on Gomez's back again. Ann strolled into the room with her hands in her hair. "Is Ann still marrying her hair?" Elle asked jokingly, clearly aware that she was in. "Very funny," Ann said sarcastically. "Can we focus on what you found? I'm missing the 'All You Can Eat Wednesday' here," Ace said complainingly. Everyone laughed shortly before Ace cut us off. "Where are we?" "In Ivy's studio, she loved painting," Sibyl replied. "Ivy's studio," I told them. "What did you find, Elle?" "This painting, my chest thumped the moment I touched it," she explained, brushing her fin
