Walking into the office the next morning, my mind was made up and I knew what I had to do. Despite the undeniable chemistry between Tyler and myself, I knew that it would be absolutely stupid of me to let go of everything I'd built with Nate in order to pursue a 'relationship' with someone who didn't know the meaning of the word. And for that reason alone, I'd decided that I needed to be professional with Tyler, and keep it that way from this point forwards."Good morning, Mr Gray," I greeted him cheerfully, walking into his office with his order of coffee. Even though I'd left his house just hours ago, seeing him effected me more than I'd dare to admit."Bringing back the formalities already?" He smirked devilishly. "You know you can call me Tyler when it's just us - or when it's not.""I think it's probably best that I don't, Sir," I remained as composed as possible, remembering that if I didn't set the standard now, I would never

"You said what now!?" Nikki screamed through my phone, loud enough to cause significant hearing damage had I not moved it away from my ear in time. "I thought you were going to end things with Mr Gray, not giving him an ultimatum.""I know," I chuckled. "I have no idea what came over me, but I just started blurting out all this stuff and couldn't stop."I'd just left work for the afternoon and was now walking home for a quiet night in. Tyler hadn't said anything to me for the rest of the day, but it wasn't like I'd made much of an effort to see him either. As far as I was concerned, the ball was in his court and he could do with that what he wanted. "Well," Nikki spoke a little softer than before. "I guess the chase is officially on.""Shut up," I laughed. "He probably won't even think twice in moving on to some easier girl, someone who wants him in return."

"Miss Carson! Over here!" "Who are you with tonight, Miss Carson?""Ally Carson! This way please!"I'd never seen this many cameras in my life, let alone had so many pointing at me. It was all a little overwhelming; the flashing lights, yelling photographers and busy crowds of people moving every which way behind the metal barricades. Even on our side of the divider, teams of people all dressed up in black were running around the place directing the guests along the carpet and into the event. It was a lot to take in. Luckily, I had on my arm a guy who thrived in this sort of environment, who was born for the spotlight and a natural in front of the camera. Conner knew all his best angles and poses, and also made sure I knew mine, making the whole process that little bit less stressful for an amateur like myself.

Going against my friends' advice, I showed up to work on Monday morning looking completely decent and professional. After spending the weekend with Nate, who was blissfully unaware of half the drama that was going down, I'd practically forgotten that anything was going wrong in my life. So, in the spirit of keeping it that way, I'd decided not to play into Tyler's games. "Good morning, Bella," I greeted the receptionist as I walked past the desk towards the elevators. "Morning, Al," she smiled brightly. "Hey, I was actually wondering if- ah- there was any chance you wanted to have lunch with me?""Yeah," I replied. "I'd love to.""Great!" She grinned once again. "Just swing by the desk when you're on break and I'll be good to go.""Sweet, I'll see you then."When I got up to the top flo

"Oh my god," was all I could think to say as I let my eyes wander around the restaurant we'd just entered. "You weren't kidding when you said this would be fancy.""Do you like it?" Nate asked, placing a gentle kiss on the back of my hand as I nodded my head. "I figured there's no point to us working so hard if we don't treat ourselves once in a while.""Amen to that," I chuckled, pulling him in for a quick kiss before a waitress came over and led us to a table. Nate pulled out my chair for me like the true gentleman he was, making me smile at the gesture. "Can I interest you any drinks to start off with?" The waitress asked once we'd taken our seats.  "I'll just take an iced water for now, thanks," I replied, while Nate opted for some fancy white wine. W

"Tyler?" I was shocked to see the man standing on the other side of the door, in the same outfit he'd been wearing at dinner, smelling strongly of liquor and a pungent cologne. He was obviously drunk; his demeanour and expression made that much clear. It was also the only reason he'd be here standing at my door. "Allyyy babyyy," he confirmed my theory with his uncontrolled slur. "Can I come innn?"Considering his current level of consciousness, and not even wanting to know how he'd found his way here in the first place, I decided to do the responsible thing and let Tyler inside for a bit. There was no way I'd be letting him stay over, but kicking him out to roam the streets drunk was certainly not the most responsible move either. "In you come," I moved to the side, letti

*RING RING .. RING RING*I was rudely awoken by the sound of my phone ringing somewhere in the room. I forced my eyes open, groaning when I saw that it was still pitch black outside, the glow from the streets the only thing enabling me to find my phone on my bedside table. "Hi mum," I croaked out, my throat still dry as a result of my deep sleep. "Hi honey," she chirped on the other end, way too enthusiastic for me at such an early hour. "How's my baby going.""Good," I responded rather generically. "You know it's 4am here right?""Really? Oh well what are you doing awake?""Answering your call," I replied bluntly. "What time is it for you?""9pm.""I thought I told you not to call me after noon, Mum," I yawned rather loudly. "Did something happen?"

"Is there anything else you need me to do before I head off?" I asked Tyler, hoping that the answer would be a resounding 'no'. "It's five o'clock already?" He seemed surprised as he checked his Rolex for the time. "Gosh this afternoon's flown by.""It has," I nodded along, although I certainly couldn't relate. I hadn't been able to focus on anything work related since arriving back from lunch. Instead of helping me make my mind up on Tyler, spending time with Zoey had made the whole situation a hell of a lot more confusing. I'd hoped that she would tell me how mentally unstable he was, or that he'd never be able to settle down, but instead she'd talked about how good he'd be as a dad, and as a husband too it seemed. And although it was a sister's job to say that about her brother, I couldn't help but to see him in a bit of a different

"Ally," a soft voice called as I was gently shaken from my sleep. "Al, you've gotta wake up." "What time is it?" I yawned out, stretching my arms as I turned over on the couch.  As my eyes began to adjust to the light in the room, I could start to make out a still shirtless Tyler sitting on the coffee table across from me. "Let's just say your alarm went off a while ago," he answered my question rather vaguely, causing me to groan. I really didn't like being late. "You looked way too comfortable for me to disturb you." Once I'd gained enough strength to get up, I headed into the bathroom to wash my face, the cold water shocking me to life and further boosting my energy. I had just thirty minutes to get myself in a fit state for work, and although I highly doubted that we'd both be ready in such a short amount of time, I wanted to make sure we were was a

"I know you didn't want me to do anything fancy when I asked you, but here we are," he chuckled nervously. "So Ally Carson, will you be my girlfriend?"I stood speechless, staring at the beautiful little ring as I tried to come up with a suitable reply. Truth be told, I had no clue what to say in a moment such as this. "I- ah-," I mentally kicked myself as I stumbled over my words. "I'm really flattered that you would ask me, and put this effort in-""You're saying no?" He jumped to the conclusion, and rather rightly so, which both caught me off guard and relieved me at the same time. "I can't believe that after all this time, you're actually rejecting me right now.""I'm not rejecting you," I placed my hand on his shoulder in an attempt to calm him down. "I just don't know if I'm quite ready to take that next step yet. I have a lot going on right now, and I don't see
