Chapter Thirty-one
Ella groaned quietly, her eyelids fluttered and she squinted at the streak of light streaming through the lace curtains, bathing the room in warm gold. She was too lazy to open her eyes or get out of bed. She squeezed her eyes shut and caressed the pillow all the while dreaming that she was on a water bed–soft, cosy, and floaty.     Ella smiled and drew in a satisfied breath relishing in the scent of fresh roses and water from the ocean. She cracked open half-lids to inspect the other side of the bed for Kristina as they always slept side by side. Not completely trusting her eyes in situations like this she reached out and felt with her hand. But Kristina wasn't there and

Chapter Thirty-two
Dylan pinched the bridge of his nose and breathed calmly.     Ella looked away guiltily. He was right, she had been reckless and there would’ve been no explanation the media would be interested in hearing other than the fact that she had proven to be the gutter snipe they presumed her to be. ‘’I’m sorry I over stepped, it won’t happen again.’’Dylan groaned taking her hand in his, ‘’I know how hard this must be on you, I should’ve been more thoughtful.’’ He traced lazy circles behind her hand and gave her a reassuring smile.     ‘’Why did you bring me here instead of taking me home?’’ Ella asked after a moment’s silence.

Chapter Thirty-three
After the introduction Ella couldn’t quite call an introduction, she was glad that Dylan finally led her away with the two following closely behind. She slipped easily out of Dylan’s hold as soon as they got to the expansive sitting room; if he noticed he gave no sign he did.    The room had a coffered ceiling and the decoration was a mix of warm colours. The walls were painted ivory white, the gas fire-place stood against the wall to her left and there were in-built cabinets on the other side housing the home’s stereo systems and electronics. Beautiful tapestries and ornate paintings hung on the wall.    Ella peered through an open door that had access to the rear stairwell and back deck. They manoeuvred f

Chapter Thirty-four
The soap made her skin feel like silk. She smiled and leaned back with a tentative sigh wishing she could take her time; but it suddenly hit her that this was Dylan’s bedroom and immediately made haste to avoid any awkward run-ins.     A little later, she walked back into the bedroom in a bath robe with a towel wrapped around her head. She made a quick sweep of the room with caution for a moment before she relaxed a bit; when her eyes darted back again, she spotted the leopard design tube dress glaring at her from the bed where it was neatly spread. Her eyes narrowed before she reached out tentatively and picked it up eyeing the dress coolly, her mouth turned up in a frown.    ‘’What does he think I am? Some cheap hooker?’’ she said in disbelief.

Chapter Thirty-five
Dylan froze momentarily, but he was not cold–quite the contrary actually–he was warm all over, almost feverish…his skin was alive from the prickling sensation of the soft night breeze. Tremors of delightful sensation rocked through him, shaking him in the unexpected way; almost knocking the wind out of him.    For how long he’d been that way, Dylan couldn’t tell as his ravenous eyes feasted on the goddess-like feminine figure that stood exactly five feet from him. This was probably the best time to look away, if possible turn back from whence he came. But common sense eluded him, his body betrayed him and his limbs stood rooted to the ground.

Chapter Thirty-six
Dinner was awkward at first, sitting side by side with Dylan that even a tiny bit of contact would make her almost jump out of her skin. Ella was almost certain that he was doing it on purpose. The next time their bodies touched Ella pinched him so hard he hissed.             ''Is something wrong?” Her mother asked.            Dylan cleared his throat. “Nothing." He said then he grabbed his glass of water and gulped it down in one go. When he was done he slammed the empty glass on the wooden while he glared at her but Ella put her hand against her mouth to smoulder her laughter. And that was how slowly and surely the tension evaporated and her nerves were no longer screaming but Adele Garcia would hear from he

Chapter Thirty-seven
‘’Where are we going?’’ Ella asked as soon as she got into the car with Dylan and he began to drive. It was the next afternoon and Dylan had come to get her from the café.       ‘’It’s a surprise.’’ Dylan said. Ella didn’t know whether to panic or jump with glee at the prospect of being surprised by Dylan Vergara, so she opted to being silent all through the ride until they got to one of those high end neighbourhoods almost at the outskirts of Lucena. Ella’s mouth fell open as they stopped in front of a gigantic two-storeys white house—no mansion with a large beautiful garden at the side and a lake.     ‘’Wow! Whose h

Ella was furious. Her breath came out in short strained pants, her nails dug into the plush material of the outdoor sofa; she was ready to explode any moment and it didn’t make it any better that Dylan was wearing an enigmatic mask, his face inscrutable as he studied her through hooded lashes.    ‘’With the way you’re staring at me, you look like you could bore a hole right through me.’’ He said in an amused tone.    ‘’Don’t get too cocky because I just might do that.’’ She gritted between clenched teeth.    ‘’You should eat.’’ He said coolly.    ‘’I’m not hungry.’’    ‘’I can hear

‘’Your money your rules I see. Perfect.’’ She said between clenched teeth throwing his earlier statement back at him. ‘’But I have no desire to be your puppet where you can pull the strings whenever you want, you can have me as your prisoner but it still wouldn’t make a difference.’’ With that she turned and left crossing the pool area to the back door and up to her bedroom, slamming the door hard enough to rip it off its hinges. She collapsed onto the silky sheets, buried her face and screamed into the pillow.       Dylan didn’t know what possessed him to say those awful things to her and he couldn’t forget the hurt in her eyes before she walked away. Just a few days ago he had assured Doña Bianca that he was immune; that he wouldn’t lose his head…or his heart, but now he&rsq

Chapter Forty
Ella squinted and groaned shielding her eyes from the stream of sunlight coming in from the half-rolled drapes on the window. She glanced around groggily until her eyes adjusted to the light.      Confusion washed over her as she glanced around the room once more, she rolled onto her back and was staring at the crystal chandelier hanging above the chocolate brown ceiling. Everything else was the same shade of colour except for the milk coloured silky bedspread that was the same as the walls. When reality finally kicked in, she felt her chest constricted and a huge lump formed in her throat. Her head was throbbing, her eyes felt heavy and sore.       The door flew open and Idad barrelled in with a tray of food, she smiled brightly when she saw El
