My love, His love
I tried casting different spells standing right next to Samil, and they all worked! I couldn't believe it. It felt amazing. I wasn't completely sure about Samil's theory at first, but I guessed that since his seal was far from fading, there was only one explanation left — I was truly acknowledged by the seal's power.Certainly, it didn't solve the problem of the cor inane amulet. I just had to believe in my abilities. I didn't want to become arrogant and overly confident, but what if I really was the witch from the prophecy? If it was true, then it would only be right for me to overcome the power filling the amulet. Even so, I had to be incredibly cautious. I had to find an easy way to test whether I could cast a spell on Victor Artois or not. If I wanted him to tell the whole truth in front of everyone at the meeting, I had to cast it saying it out loud, and to do that I had to be sure that it would work…It was Sunday, but it was far from being a lazy da

The board meeting
The morning came. I felt that the level of stress kept growing within me. I didn't want to show Samil how restless I was, so I put the warmest possible smile on my face and used it as a cover for all my fears. Unlike me, he seemed to be confident and focused. He grabbed my hand while we were walking inside the Sirio Corporation's grand conference room. “Relax. I believe you can do it. We will win this war together,” he smiled and kissed my forehead. As soon as we passed the threshold, the board members surrounded us. They wanted to find out who I was, and what qualifications I had to sit among them. Samil introduced me. His introduction was shamelessly full of praise, but denying any of his words would make me rather suicidal. Not that it mattered how creative a scriptwriter I was. The key argument that made those other board members accept my presence without further questions was the amount of money my show made compared to the money spent on its budget… “Y

My own justice
“Are you going to stand there and glare at me?” Victor Artois snorted with disdain painted all over his face. I knew I had to risk it all. I knew I had to find the strength to overpower the amulet. I needed to believe that I could do it, and I needed to cast the spell now. “Who did you get the cor inane amulet from?” I asked, looking straight into his eyes. “W-what?” my question certainly got him startled. That gave me confidence and courage to try harder. I took another deep breath, feeling the magic bursting out from every cell of my body. “I said, who gave you the cor inane amulet?” I repeated, strengthening my focus on him. “Brent Donell,” the words came out of his mouth, but he sounded confused that he said it. I smirked. My magic was able to reach him, although he wasn't fully compelled. "What did you do to me?!" he burst out. I chuckled wickedly and looked straight into his eyes, "I guess you have never e

Fighting by his side
The security guards surrounded Victor Artois. It took him quite a while to process what had exactly happened. As soon as the rationality hit his brain, he panicked completely. He started yelling, cursing at me and Samil, struggling with the guards to let him go. He looked like a vicious, wild animal that had been captured and led to the cage. The other members of the board came out to the corridor to watch how the security restrained Victor in order to hand him to the police officers. "I will kill you! You are a witch! I will have you burnt at the stake! I will take your eyes out, torment you and I will have you burnt, you damn bitch!" Artois kept bellowing while being taken by the guards. Samil held me tight in his embrace, and even tried covering my ears so that I wouldn't hear Victor's cursing. The other members of the board stood in absolute shock and terror, although I was almost certain that none of them was a saint either. Samil stroked my back, whispe

Rising hatred
My body started to shiver while my mind went blank. Samil took the note from my hand to read it. Then he started explaining something to his men. I couldn't comprehend a single word I heard. To my mind, it all turned into a dull sound. I stood motionless as if my mind needed to reset. I could only hear my heart pounding wildly. "…andra… sandra! Kassandra!" Samil tugged my arm while trying to wake me up from bewilderment. I gasped and looked into his eyes. "We need to go there, now!" he shouted and then pulled my hand towards his car. Only then did I come back to my senses. I followed him. We drove away in a hurry. I kept squeezing my hands on the seatbelt. I was so insanely nervous. I called my Grandma four times while we were on our way. She didn't answer the phone. My hands were shaking, and my eyes filled with tears. Samil grabbed my hand. "We are almost there. My men are on the way as well." He did his best to comfort me and make me stay f

Feeling restless
Samil took me to the hospital and stayed by my side the whole night. Certainly, Samil insisted that I would rest, but I refused to go home. I wanted to stay next to Grandma until she woke up. He surrendered to my decision, but didn't want to leave me alone, not even for a second. He was my rock. Only thanks to him I found a strength within me and didn't collapse. I was terrified of what might come next. I was terrified that I could lose anyone else.It was 3 AM, and I couldn't sleep. Samil went down to get us something warm to eat since we hadn't eaten since we went to the meeting of the board. I sat by Grandma's bed and held her hand. She looked like she was sleeping peacefully. Her heartbeat was stable. I hoped that she would wake up soon, but at the same time I didn't know how to tell her about Kira. I knew that she would be devastated when she heard about her death."I'm sorry, Granny… I'm sorry that I couldn't protect you and Aunt Kira like I should," I wep

Looking for an ally
I stared at Samil, petrified. I was never fond of Camilla nor her father, but I wished them justice, not death!"Victor Artois was attacked while being taken to the police arrest. At the same time, all five of the Artois' residences were destroyed, and all of the people who worked for them were murdered," Samil explained.I collapsed on my seat. Chills ran down my spine. I could never imagine that somebody could ever do something like that, and why?! Of course, the culprit could only be the Donells and the eldest, but I thought that they were working together. Not to mention that Victor Artois was given the cor inane amulet."It… doesn't make any sense," I muttered, processing what I had heard."Actually, it does," Samil sighed, troubled, "Apparently, Victor Artois's line of defense was blaming Brent Donell. If he was already in charge and the truth came out, he wasn't planning on going down alone. I bet that Donell learnt about it, or even assumed

Their game
I was glad to hear that she agreed, but I had a feeling that this cooperation wouldn't be too easy. She was the one who taught me the basics of magic. She taught me about control and using my power. She had more knowledge about what I was capable of than I did. Yet, I thought it would be wiser not to mention that I had absorbed the demonic power from the seal, especially since I had no idea how my limits expended after adding this power to the magic I had possessed before."So… do you know what I should do to set you free from this prison?" I asked, awkwardly smiling."Yes… but breaking this spell will take some time," she replied, sighing."What do you mean?" I instantly became nervous, since time was the one thing that I didn't have."You need to read the hidden inscription written on the door outside of the theatre. When you do, the barrier placed around the theatre will start to disappear. I cannot be certain how long it will take before

Prisoner
They brought me to their car. I got inside and I kept thinking what to do. I needed to find a way to inform Samil. I had to tell him that he was in danger, and that Grandma's and Asher's lives were in jeopardy as well. I couldn't use my phone since I had to hand it over to one of the Donells' men."You are a witch for God's sake! There has to be a way to send a message using magic!" I tried to force myself to think harder. If it was a comic book, the main character would surely use telepathy or something like that to connect with her loved one, but I had never heard of the way that the witch could send her thoughts to a specific mind at that.It was exactly midnight when we arrived in front of Donell Entertainment's headquarters. I guessed they were so confident that they didn't even care to hide the place where all of their schemes took place. Then I looked closely and saw that the whole area seemed secluded, although it was the center of the city. I smirked, s

Raising an Army
The anxiety filled me from head to toes. I had never tried casting a spell on an animal, much less a spell which I described in my mind alone. Although I could feel my magic flowing, and I thought that I was actually communicating with that raven, I had no chance to confirm if it obeyed me. It was hard to acknowledge that the lives of my loved ones depended on whether I was able to put a spell on that bird properly. Even thinking about it sounded absurd. But I ran out of options. I had to rely on something ludicrous. Of course, I was certain that if my bizarre plan worked, Mr. Hitchcock would appreciate it… I believed that Samil would soon discover that I was kidnapped, but it wouldn't change the fact that there were still snipers around the Sirio Corporation building, aiming at him. I also knew that, since Samil hadn't had much time managing the company recently, he might as well have spent the whole night in that conference room, discussing the urgent issues with Mr. Romer
