CHAPTER 61ARIA’S POVI look at the screen of my phone and sigh when I see that none of my calls have been returned, I resume my pacing, toying with my phone to keep my hands busy.I felt like if my hand wasn’t busy I might find Mrs. Marilyn and choke her for this drama play she has been putting us through or maybe Kelly would be a better candidate. All of a sudden the bitch won’t shut up about her allegations, killing her wasn’t an option apparently, every one will know it was done by Luca even if it turns out it might be me.Early this morning I was so sure the meeting that was cancelled was planned by Mrs. Marilyn, Lord knows what she told the man to have him cancel in on us.Well, that passed or I thought it did till I saw Luca rush out of here like his ass was on fire, that happened like at 9 and now it’s 12, he’s still not taking his calls, hasn’t appeared back, won’t return the damn calls even w

CHAPTER 62EMBERLYNN’S POVI finally wake up from a restless sleep to see a nurse hovering over me, checking on the wires connected.“Hi”, she says when she sees I'm awake.“You're not Sandy”, I say and realize that sounded rude, “Sorry, I'm getting used to being without memory and I sort of got used to Sandy”, I say apologizing. She looks at me with kind eyes laced with a bit of pity.“Dr. Sims also thought it might be a bit hard for you waking up to a different face but Sandy is on call in the main emergency ward and I needed to check you out of the emergency, your accommodations have been upgraded as you're stable now”, she says making a joke about it.“Instead of transferring me, can’t I go home yet, my husband will want that too”, I say.“You think?”, she asks looking thoughtful and I nod, “Well let me have a bit of a talk with Dr. Sims and I wil

CHAPTER 63LUCA’S POV“What did you do?” I ask as soon as I locate Aria, when I finally got to the hospital I kept calling her to find out what that call meant but she hadn’t picked up, so I had gone into Emb’s room just to meet utter chaos, they had asked me to excuse them as she was back in code red.I had wanted more explanation but no one was willing to explain so I started hunting for Aria, and after a whole thirty minutes or more I find her on the rooftop.“What do you mean?” she says in a calm controlled voice that I'm not buying even a bit.“I mean I walked into the room of a woman I left utterly healthy few hours ago and she’s suddenly in code red, as far as I know you were the last to see her”, I say imitating her calmness when inside me was a boiling rage.I wanted to be done with this whole mess and just enjoy but even that seems like it’s not possible.“She fou

CHAPTER 64EMBERLYNN’S POV“Whatever you put in that drip is good, I feel stronger” I say as soon as Dr. Sims comes for his morning rounds. He smiles and nods, “Was it the drug in the drip or the fact that you know you're not guilty of the nasty stuff your friend threw at you”, he says.I shrug, “Whatever it is, it’s giving me joy and strength, so I'm grateful”He nods and smiles.I return his smile, I had woken up from my drug induced sleep and found him sitting beside my bed, he said my husband left and so did Aria.He apologized for their attitude and I argued that there was no need, he told me all my husband told him and relieved me of the guilt I felt and then I slept a more rewarding sleep, now I was wide awake and ready to be discharged.“Are you sure you want to leave here? I mean now you get to see your friend unhindered, she might throw worse things your way”, he says.

CHAPTER 65LUCA’S POV“What time are we showing up today?” Aria says from beside me, we had woken up several times in the night going at each other like animals so we slept in real late, the only reason our phones were not blowing up was because I had it off since yesterday as promised and now it was 10, I wasn’t sure I wanted to switch it on after all.“Should we just leave the work today?” I say going to the bathroom, I was hungry for a shower.“We don’t have that liberty, we are in war and we can always use Emb being in the hospital as a reason for going late but definitely not as one for not showing up”, she says making a good point.“Fine, I’ll shower first, don’t put on the phones till we are done bathing and even dressed, I don’t want to have to rush”, I say stepping into the scalding water, I pick up soap and lather my body.I didn’t think I will have t

CHAPTER 67LUCA’S POVThe atmosphere in this office has never been this tensed, everyone is trying so hard not to say the wrong thing and the meeting hasn’t even started.Kelly and Aria stood behind Mrs. Marilyn and I respectively but Emberlynn insisted they got small chairs to sit, that the meeting will be a long one, so they had both gone to get chairs while Emb looked through some files.it will be stupid to deny that the office looked good on her, she was a boss, something I didn’t recognize before now, but it was true that getting this from her again was going to be tricky. Not only did she enjoy it, she didn’t trust me, I felt it from her right from the hospital and now it was like she was clearing up my people, so the only other option is that I hired the wrong people which still falls back on me.“Do I have something on my face?” she asks breaking my line of thought.“No”, I answer

CHAPTER 68LUCA’S POV“You handled that well”, I say after the meeting and Emberlynn smiles.“I guess I trust you so much, I didn’t feel like that was the truth”, she says packing up her bags.“Going somewhere?” I ask“Yes, to the house, I've exhausted the strength for today, it was surprisingly hectic, lots to resolve, very disappointing as I have someone here”, she says and I ignore her jab at me, I give her a smile instead.“Should I rub your feet? Or I could go further up, do that stuff you love with my tongue”, I say wiggling my eyebrow.“Did we used to have lots of sex?” she asks with a full grin.“Of course we did, that is exactly how our little one was formed so early in our marriage”, I say mirroring her grin.I guess sucking up to her a second time wouldn’t be hard, I just had to make sure she doesn&rsquo
