Chapter 80 (It's not over)
After a very long day of shopping they finally were walking back home. It wasn’t a long walk. It only took around 20 minutes to reach Jack’s apartment from the mall. As the two were walking back Alice’s phone buzzed indicating that she had received a message. Alice took her phone out to see who it was. “Hmm, it must me Jack huh…” Jasmine teased but Alice ignored. ‘So, you are the new protector of Jasmine. Remember the chances of supporting character dying before the main protagonist is always high in the battle field. So who would that person be in this case? Stefen/ you or JACK? It's not over.’ A cold shiver ran down Alice’s spine. It was clearly a menacing message and only Jack’s name was written in bold letters. ‘Does this mean that Jack is the next target? The message must be from that same anonymous person’ Alice thought. “Are you fine Alice?” Jasmine asked with a concerned tone seeing her friend turn blue. “Is there a problem?” Alice could not hear anything Jasmine was say

Chapter 81 (It is not over)
But there was no reply from the other side, only silence. She knocked again but the result was the same. She took another deep breath before opening the door. The room was dark, not even a lamp was on in the room. “I am turning on the lights okay?” Jasmine asked and after hearing no reply again she turned on the light. The room looked untouched. Everything was on its right spot: not even a crease on the bedsheet indicating that no one has sat there for a very long time. Her eyes examined the room when she saw Alice crawling on the floor in one corner. She had fallen asleep on the floor itself. She looked so vulnerable. Jasmine did not want to wake Alice up but she could not just leave her on the floor the whole night, so she went back to the kitchen. “Jack?” she called. “I might be needing your help, please come,” she left after saying those words not waiting for Jack to say anything. Jack stood up from his chair and followed Jasmine as Stefen stood still witnessing everything tha

Chapter 82 (No cops)
“But what should we do? And why aren’t we involving the police till now?” Jasmine said. “I don’t know why we never thought of involving police into this matter in the first place, what I do know is that now I don’t want them to be a part of this in any way,” Jack did not emit a positive vibe. “What do you mean?” asked Stefen, he doubted Jack’s thoughts. “Whoever this maniac is, I will be the one to find it and hunt it down until…” “Until what?” Jasmine asked. “Even I don’t know what I will do, all I know is I can't let this person threathen us one by one, and who knows when this simple threat could turn into an action we can't avoid,” Jack said with an evil smirk. “No matter what Jack, you must think about Alice before taking any wrong move,” Stefen warned. “But what should we do now? How are we going to find this person? And what do you think he or she or whoever this psychopath is will do next? ” Jasmine raised pyramids of questions. “Actually, I did not want to tell this to

Chapter 83 (Rift)
Alice knew that she couldn’t run away forever, this was a topic that had to come to light, but she was not ready for it yet. Yet somehow she was assured and happy because no matter what she knew, she knew she had Jack by her side. Even if it was for few seconds, Jack’s hug gave her that ease. “Let’s try and finish our work as soon as possible and submit the reports to Sandra,” Alice said out of blue, the inner her didn’t want to be in rush because of the deadline or because she feared Sandra, but the sole reason was she didn’t want to drag them in this mess that she fell into. Staying close to them meant, risking their lives as well, and Alice couldn’t afford that at any cost. She treasured them and the mere thought that their life could be in danger petrified her. “Okay,” he nodded. “Do you want to tell me about yesterday? Like what happened?” Jack wanted Alice to trust him and believe in him. “Oh that? Nothing much, I was not feeling very well, that’s it,” she forced a smile. “I g

Jack opened his apartment door and walked in silently. He saw no one in the living room so he went to the kitchen only to find it empty. He walked upstairs and saw the guest room door half open. Alice was startled hearing the voice in the midst of the silence that was there. She turned around and saw Jack outside the room. “Jack?” she was contented to see him but she broke her smile immediately remembering that she had hurt him. “Did you forget something? You can come in,” she spoke maintaining her calm composure. “I just wanted to speak to you about what happened this morning…” Jack spoke softly unlike in the morning as he entered the room. “It’s not your fault.” Alice stood up from her chair and walked towards Jack but Jack walked pass her seeing the documents on the table that Alice was working on. Chapter 85 (The door)
Stefen went upstairs and found all the doors closed. He went to open their room’s door but it was locked from inside. “Hey J, are you in there?” There was no reply. He tried to open the door one more time to reassure if it was really locked from inside, but the result remained unchanged. “Hey, you didn’t come back to the office after lunch break so I just wanted to know if you are fine. If you don’t want to talk then that’s also completely acceptable and understandable, but just open the door... We are roomies remember?” Stefen tried to lighten the mood and make Jack open the door but he failed miserably at it. “Okay, since you’ve taken an oath to not open door let me try it my way,” he smirked. He started stretching his arms and fingers and he moved his shoulders in circular motion, ready for action. “Don’t tell me that I didn’t warn you before about this huh... Okay here we go… 1-2-3 OPEN SESAME,” he opened his hands towards the door in a hugging way as if electricity would flow

Chapter 86 (A walk to remember)
The two went for a walk by the path beside a river. No vehicles except bicycles were allowed in that zone. The walking area was guarded by the metal barriers and there was a street lamp after every seven meters; lighting up the road as well as glowing the river waters, adding shine to their calm body. It was still not so late at night so the cafés were still opened and few musicians’ added life to the night with their melodious voice by the roadside. Old couples were walking holding hands on one side and walking stick on the other whereas young couples were seated on the tables outside the café as they were experiencing new feelings and new attachments. Parents were holding their child’s hand as they were out on a night stroll after having their dinner and few lonely birds were on their phone late at night, talking to their loved ones who lived far from them and consoling their lonely hearts with the sound of their voice. “I thought I’d forgotten what life actually is,” Jasmine said a

Chapter 87 (Jumbled)
‘Time is so powerful, I know that and yet it still amazes me every time to see it perform. One moment you can be happy and would want to live for thousands of years and the very next moment you want everything to just end.’ He thinks as he watches the busy street from his big glass wall. The sun shining bright indicating the beginning of yet another day but the same schedule that one’s bound to oblige. ‘All these people rushing to go somewhere they are not excited to, working day and night for a future that just won’t come, the future that is only sabotaging the present. It’s unexplainably hilarious how one works for more then half-a century to have decades of happiness, that too uncertain happiness. And even though they are aware of this fact, they go back to their unwanted usual like a man compelled or under a spell that they can’t break free from.’ Knock-Knock “Hey J, you awake?” Stefen’s voice interrupted Jack’s thought. “The door’s unlocked.” Jack replied still staring at the

Chapter 88 (The Unsent Letter)
“You ready to leave for work?” Stefen asked Jasmine. “Yeah, I guess,” Jasmine sounded exhausted. “What, already tired?” he chuckled. “No, but what about Alice and Jack?” “Don’t worry, I had a talk with Jack, he will be fine and on top, they both need some time alone and among themselves too. We’ll file sick leave for them.” “I guess you are right but what if things worsen between them, I mean we tried giving them their space yesterday and you saw the consequences yourself.” “See, there are always two ways we can see things. Either be optimist or be pessimist… and I want to bet on the positive side. We can’t force them to solve their issues, can we?... So, the best is we let them figure things out themselves. And I’m pretty sure they will because they value each other, much more than they value their stubbornness.” Stefen explained. Jasmine nodded her head and the two went to work. It was already afternoon when Jack came out of his cave and made his way to the kitchen. He entere

Chapter 89 (Candle Light Date)
In the evening Jasmine and Stefen were excited and nervous for their date. Needless to say, keeping their history in mind it was their first date in this lifetime. Jasmine walked down the stairs wearing a black knee length dress with red heels to go along, red lipstick, a low curly hair parted in the middle and light black eyeshadow. Stefen was already in the living room waiting for her in his dark blue suit, hands in his side pockets, hair gelled and slicked back. He smiled as he saw her descending looking magnificent. Jasmine replied to his smile and walked more close to him. “You look ravishing Jasmine,” he said, his eyes still stuck on her. She blushed hearing him as she felt his eyes on her. “You look overly-attractive yourself Mr. Wills,” she managed to hold her head straight and control herself from blushing. Stefen went near her face and as his cheeks brushed through her, she closed her eyes as she felt electricity all over her body. He went near her ear and whispered, “I
