Chapter 170: What Next
“Can I come over, lol. I got kicked out.” Meredith read her text to Edward and shook her head, mortified as to what the ramifications of that one drunken text might be. “Sure, Luv. Cum anytime you want. Do you need me to pick you up?” Edward had responded and Meredith groaned then followed said groan with a deep sigh. “Sorry about last night I was a little drunk.” Meredith messaged Edward after a moment. “Sorry about last night, Bub. Give Dino kisses for me.” Meredith hit sent before realizing that she had called Brayden, Bub. She smacked her palm to her forehead and did a double groan one in actual pain from her hangover. “You can drunk text me whenever you want, Luv. Did my brother really kick such a lovely woman out?” Edward was quick to respond. Meredith wasn’t s

Chapter 171: Coffee and Charm
Meredith walked out of her parents' house to the drive that connected the garage to the street about half an acre from the house. Behind her new white four-door BMW M3 was a smooth grey Mercedes coupe with a black convertible top. Meredith had not ever seen a Mercedes like that before. The color was a dark cool grey that looked almost bullet-like as though the car itself could go the speed of a bullet. Meredith didn’t doubt such speed was a possibility for the convertible. Meredith had never really thought or wondered what kind of car Edward drove. What she saw seemed very fitting for the god of charm.“What kind of car is this?” Meredith asked as he held her door for her.“It’s a GT C,” Edward said with a tone of indifference as though it was just his errand car and his rea

Chapter 172: Paperwork
Meredith blinked and Edward got up and grabbed her hand that had been on his arm and led Meredith out of the coffee shop back to his car, which was parked at the curb just outside. He opened her door for her and walked around. Meredith didn’t stare into nothingness out her window but she still wasn’t paying attention to where they had been or where they were going. She was watching the man that was driving and wondering what other surprises he had. Before Meredith knew it, Edward had parked, turned the car off and was getting out again. He walked around and opened her door and that’s when she realized they were in a garage. He led her through a door that led into a wine room with a large wine fridge surrounded by bottles in the built-in wine racks. There was also a smaller wine fridge. Meredith was wondering why

Chapter 168.2: Freedom
**Author's note: I missed a chapter ('v,v) Please forgive me!!! I have released it here as a second chapter for today and will make it up by posting an extra chapter next week. Please enjoy** Meredith stepped out of the car and Brayden closed the door and drove away. Meredith stared after him with a blank expression. How could he say he loves her then leave her. Meredith didn't know how long she stood there like that just staring off at nothing when her phone rang bringing her back to life."Hello? Mom?" Meredith answered and then remembered what Brayden had told her. "Oh my god, mom. I'm sorry. I'm on my way." Meredith turned back towards the car dealer and briskly walked down to the other end of the block where she saw the Truluck sign on the corner. She turned down Chestnut and there it was, the awning and entrance to Truluck. Meredith's mind had shut down just before Brayden had left her on the sidewalk so she didn't pay attention to much

Chapter 173: Buried
Meredith's parents hadn't asked why she was still at their house for the whole week. It was Friday and all knew was she had gotten a new job and that there was some talk of moving. Initially they thought Meredith meant she and Brayden were moving.  The longer Meredith stayed the more suspicious they got that there was more to it than Meredith had told them. Other than running for hours every morning and eating breakfast Meredith stayed in her room. She didn't even come down for lunch or dinner. They were eating breakfast and Meredith at the table across from her parents. It was in a small dining area off the kitchen with a bathroom adjacent to it and a sun room that worked as their family room. Meredith was wearing her running leggings and t-shirt. Her skin glistened with a sheen of sweat from the long run in the neighborhood. Her parents didn't know where she went on her runs, just that she was gone for hours. When she sat down and loaded up her

Chapter 174: Surprise
"I know about the marriage contract," Meredith had heard her father-in-law tell her. She was hoping that he didn't bring up Brayden because she wasn't sure what she could say. But he went a step further and mentioned the fake marriage directly. To say that Meredith was surprised would be an understatement in the least. Her mouth was left open as she was about to take a bite of her salad. She held her fork mid way to her mouth and as she blinked she closed her mouth and opened it again at a loss for what to do."Don't worry I knew before he told me. I've known pretty much from the start. Brayden isn't the type to spontaneously meet women let alone get married." Grant told Meredith."Umm…" Meredith put her fork down and blinked a few more times. He knew the whole time. She went through all that to convince him that they were a real couple and yet he had known from the get go that they were faking."I was hoping that pretending to be in love maybe Bra

Chapter 175: You Choose
It was Monday night and Brayden sat on the sofa across from his secretary and assistant. They had insisted that he eat something with them because he hadn’t been taking care of himself in the past seven days. It had been a week since Brayden sent Meredith to her parents’ place, and the twins and Jacob had to deal with the moody boss. The first day he was extremely agitated at anything they did right or wrong, then he started to scare them. The always polished and perfectly poised boss they knew came into work with wet disheveled hair that looked like he had washed it and towel dried it then walked out the door without giving it another thought. He had stubble from a five o’clock shadow he hadn’t shaved and he had an eerie vacant stare when he entered the office. Jacob and Mercedes were instantly concerned. When he started keeping l

Chapter 176: New Job
Meredith had been awoken by a strange dream. She didn’t know what it meant or if it meant anything at all. All she knew was she still had that same feeling that something was missing. Dino stirred at the foot of her bed and Meredith looked at the clock, which read 5:14 a.m.She sighed and put her arm over her eyes for a moment before taking a deep breath and deciding to get up. She reset her alarm clock so it wouldn’t go off randomly while she was getting ready. It was her first day at her new job. Meredith got into her running gear and headed to her new gym in her new building. She did a few stretches in the elevator on the way to the gym. It was much larger than the gym at Brayden’s place. It took up nearly half of the floor. The gym was in the floor between the residential apartments above

Chapter 177: Wanted
Brayden walked into work on Monday morning. He had on Black suit pants with a matching jacket and a light pink button up with the top two buttons unbuttoned. He hadn’t even bothered with a tie. “Good morning, sir.” Mercedes greeted him. “Where’s Jacob?” Brayden asked flatly. “He should be headed to your office shortly.” Mercedes assured her boss and typed a direct message to Jacob to get to Brayden’s office asap. She also included that Brayden was not looking any better than before even after taking a week off. If anything she thought he looked worse. “Goodmorning, sir.” Jacob said as he met Brayden at the door to his office and opened it for him. “I know you want to ask how my week off was,” Brayden said with no inflict

Chapter 178: Unexpected
Brayden woke up on Tuesday and followed his routine exactly. He washed and dressed and combed his hair. He stared in the mirror and decided to keep the short beard that was forming. He sighed and met Sean down at the car and was handed a coffee and a croissant.  As he was on his way to work he got a call and when he looked at the screen it read Lucian Hawthorne. That was unexpected, he thought and he answered the call. “Hello Luc…” Brayden greeted and was curious as to what his old roommate was calling for after so many years of no contact. It had been years since he had heard from or even of Lucian Hawthorne and it was very random that he would call. Considering how crazy Brayden’s life had been in the past couple of weeks or even the past month he wasn’t easily surprised by things anymore.
