Chapter 10
While the kids are trying to lighten the mood, heavy thuds muffle in Amira's ear. She shifts in all directions to track the source. From the hasty movements of feet, she estimates they are being surrounded. She can't recognize if the group are threats for, judging by the aura, they aren't draconian.   "There's a bunch of strangers coming our way," she announces.    "Ha?" whimpers the kids.   Amira looks at Kian who becomes alarmed all of a sudden. He gawks from a distance and spots a group of armed men swiftly maneuvering in their direction.   "We need to get away here," he says. But before they can go any farther they've been stopped by a gang of men and women in black suits.    "Oh, men! What have we done?" Miguel cries.    "Excuse me, ladies and gentlemen. We believe that's a path you're blocking! Let us get away first before you rumble." Br

Chapter 11
"Amira," calls the enchanted voice. In one snap, Amira finds herself back in the forest near their kingdom. She runs her eyes around to find the source of the voice. Behind her appears the spirit of the woods—the wood fairy— floating with the autumn leaves circling around her. "I'm back!" she exclaims. Her eyes sparkle in glee but her sudden happiness is washed off by the maiden's response. "Not yet, Amira." The fold on her forehead doublees as she states her contradiction. "No! I AM already home," she asserts her statement firmly. "I won't go back in the mortal world! That place isn't meant for me. Hauraya is my place! This is where I belong!" "Is that really what your heart says?" The wood maiden's words snatch the courage out of her, she strides back. Her voice rescinds. Hauraya maybe her place of birth but her memories of it are all but bitter. She ponders if

Chapter 12
~Flashback~~ Eight-year-old Amira covers herself behind the cemented wall when she passes by their catacomb and hears how her father, Alpha Douman, raises his voice over her Aba. "If it wasn't for that sea-serpent, we won't lose Argon! If we have Argon's mind, we will not be stocked in this realm! We could travel and cause havoc in mortals' world and non of our lives will be short-lived!" Douman grumbles while he mourns the death of his hundred and four years old mother. Mandel hovers to Douman's side and taps his shoulder. "This shall be the last demise of our kind, son. After decades of waiting, our alas has been born. She'll lead us back to the mortal world." "She better do or else she's as good as a trash!" Douman crooks and passes over his father. When he reaches the door and spots Amira, he stops and gawks at her innocent stares. He takes a deep breath before lowering his head s

Chapter 13
Amira snarls at the condition set by Liza. There's no way she'll give up the clasp. It's Hasham's gift to her, the symbol of their interminable love. "If you can't give up that hair clasp, how do we expect you to give us 'some of your jewels' then?" Liza disparages. "If you are really rich, it shouldn't be hard to let go of such a thing, right? She hates to admit it but she gets Liza's point. She is sure her gem hunting experience in the mortal world won't be easy and she'll be needing some help from some trustworthy mortals. Torn between giving up her clasp or giving up her mission, she decides to let go of the first. Reluctant, she hands over the clasp to Liza. "Please take care of it, it's precious to me. Once I got some jewels for you, I'll get back the clasp." Liza examines the clasp made of Musgravites the moment it lands on the rind of her palm. Satisfied, she carefully wraps it with a towel before inserting it into her worn-out sling bag. "I will IF i

Chapter 14
Sleeping sideways, Amira wakes to the two pairs of eyes boring adoration toward her newly awaken look. Facing her is Kian. His mouth curves into a smile when her eyes widen, startled by their close proximity.   "Whose morning won't be in glee when your beauty is what they see," greets Kian with a smile barely leaving his face.   Amira's face heats up. She rises from her sleep bed and glares at the man who's still flashing his perfectly beautiful smile. Amira's expression closes up. How did we come to that position? She asks herself.   Kian sits on his butt and stretches his arms. "So, are you ready to hunt some gem in my place?"   For a moment their eyes lock, reckoning what's in each other's head. Amira stands on her feet and wipes off the dry leaves that cling to her dress. "If it's worth it, then, I am. "   Pleased by her answer, Kian wakes the kids and announces the next rout

Chapter 15
Amira brushes her eyes open when from afar, metal clangs ding in her ears. The smell of rust and blood linger in her nostrils; she can't help but wonder where she is at.  Out of curiosity, she reaches for the bars and scans her eyes around the dim hallway. In hopes of escaping, she joggles it but fails. "Hey, is anybody here?" she wails but her voice just echoes back."Why am I in this cage? Let me go! I don't belong here!" In the absence of response, she roams her eyes around the corners of the cell and notices the kids sleeping on the cold hard ground. She bustles her way to them and wakes them all at once.  "Hey, wake up! Wake up!" she gulps but none of them opens their eyes. She listens for the heartbeat from each of their chest and when she confirms they are still alive, panic de-escalates. She rests her back on the cemented wall and thinks about what has happened, what awaits them in that cell, and if she'll ever find what s

Chapter 16
Just as what princess Czarina orders, Amira and her companions who wake up upon being watered are dragged outside the palace. "Let go of my arms! I can walk!" Liza brawls but the guards play deaf until they are thrown at the gate of the palace. "Go on, go on! Submit your loyalty to those heartless and fake royalties!" Liza mocks and spit in disgust. "You think we like stepping in here? Huh! I'd rather live in the streets forever than stay a minute in this rotten place!" she says and grabs her friends' arms to leave. "Wait!" Amira whines. Her world gradually wheels as she scans the facade of the palace. Her head tilts and her eyes narrow. The place looks quite familiar. Right. "I had seen this place before," she asserts. "This was the one I'd seen in my dream!" Gladness and hesitation mix in her eyes. "I-I am in the right place!" Liza stifles a laugh. "No way, Amira!

Chapter 18
"Your Highness, they are already increasing in number! We're afraid we can no longer incarcerate them and if reported incident rises even more, we might not be able to control the situation," reports General Doque  to the King. Fear overtakes his almost sullen square face. His unshaven long and dark hair connects with the mustache tracing his jawlines. The King leans his back on his chair and massages the baby beards on his chin. "What do you propose to do then?" he asks in a gravely calm tone. "It's about time that we inform the public about this so they'll be vigilant and prepared to protect themselves." "Can't you think of anything better than that?" grunts the slim, middle-aged man sitting opposite the general. He is called Pyro and he is the right-hand man of the King. The King struts from his seat and goes hither thither around his private archive–the place where he convenes with his loyal and trusted apprentices.  "This will o

Thumps of feet echo inside the spacious hall as the King and the Queen of the monarchy march toward the throne. Tailing behind them are Pyro, the right-hand man, and their youngest son, prince Kian. "You may leave us here," the Queen orders, leaving five of them behind. As the huge door closes, giving them privacy, the king speaks. "My son informed me that a fine lady such as you is looking for a particular gem in our palace. Can you describe the one that belongs to you and why do you think you'll find it here?"
