~Faye Every part of me is shaking with each step I take.  I really need to have T moved to a cell closer to the door, so I don’t have to make this walk each time. It gives me the perfect amount of time to consider everything he’s going to say to me, then get frightened by it. No, I’m the Alpha, and I’m going to force my questions on him, and expect all the honest answers.  He’s standing this time, arms through the cell bars. He has a predator's gaze, as he stands there, gazing at me through the fringe of dark messy hair that covers his forehead. He has an amusing smile painted across his lips. Frustrating. That’s how to describe it. “Want to explain?&rdquo

~Faye  I stare at the photo for longer than necessary, trying to fathom what I’m looking at.  Who is that? She looks just like me. The more I thought about that, the deeper T’s words delved into my mind. He knows exactly what this photo means, and who is in it. That’s what frightens me the most.  Backing up, I slip the photo into my pocket, my intentions immediately swerving to T again. I have to see him, and to get him to answer my question. Cal stops me at the door.  He’s the last person I want to see right now, if I&

~Faye “This is foolish, and you know it.” Glaring at Cal, I brush a piece of lint off his shoulder. “The suit looks lovely on you, I’m sure it will fit him.” Cal is having this suit fitted in place of T, who I agreed to having as my date to the ball tonight. Luckily, Cal is almost identical in stature to the assassin, so instead of risking anything with T, I’m having my personal guard step in. The sour expression on his face hasn’t diminished since we began this.  “What are you wearing tonight?” I ask absentmindedly, watching the tailor circle the Huntsman.  “My usual,” he

~Faye I’m wary of Cal’s eyes as I try replicate T’s movement into the ground. When I glanced over at the Huntsman, he was distracted talking to another Guard, so I used that small moment in time to sink behind dancing bodies.  T breezed past everybody, sipping champagne as he went.  His advantage is that no one wants to stop him to talk. Fingers snag my dress, trying to get me to stop. Muttering my ‘excuse me’s’ I continue following T, not taking my eyes off the back of his black suit jacket.  The moment the exit to the room came into view, I could tell T was heading toward it. With tense shoulders, I continue to follow him, hoping this isn’t him tryi

~Faye “I thought that perhaps you would give me a few more moments to stretch my legs,” T muses, glaring past the cell door I hold open.  If he seriously thinks I’m about to let a prisoner roam around, he’s insane. “You cell has plenty of room,” I mutter, waving my hand to motion him in. Cal isn’t here to assist me if T decides to retaliate, however, I would be happy to donate to his wound fund if he keeps being stubborn. I want answers, but I won’t feel safe about discussing them until he is locked tightly in his cell with no room to escape.  Unless of course, he decides to use whatever voodoo magic that tricked me last time. The exact magic he isn&

~Faye “Here we are again,” I muse, sitting back in the chair as I sip my tea.  Cal’s soft brown eyes meet mine in the mirror. “At least this time, it’s for me.” The Ceremony is tonight, where the Moon Goddess will appear in her physical form to grant my annual wish. I’m never nervous for these, as I wish for the same thing every year. This year, however, since this morning, my hands haven’t stopped shaking, and my mind hasn’t wandered off T. What is his plan for tonight? He better be considering being chained up to the wall, because that’s his reality.  “I still don’t

~Faye  “Who in the world is Tayten?” I question, fingers brushing over the words on the page.  Cal gently takes the book from my hand, placing it on his lap to look at. The book looks old, but preserved. My mind spins at all the possibilities this could lead to, however, my mind is stuck on what the book actually is. There are no words in the entire book aside from this one passage.  As if he could read my mind, Cal spoke. “I think this is used to communicate.” “But with who? And why?” I ask, exasperated, as if Cal would magically have the answers to all my questions.

~Faye  I don’t know what to think. Who to trust.  I’ve locked myself in my office so no one can reach me. As the Alpha, I need to make an executive decision on what is about to happen next. Jury came to the conclusion, for whatever reason, that T was innocent. I’m not sure how it happened, if they were influenced by Fate, or if it is really true.  That he is being controlled by someone who is of higher power. If he is truly telling the truth, then Cal is behind everything.  The worst part is, the more I think about it, the more it makes sense.  Cal has been at my side

~T I can see the strength of her mental façade stripping away. The weaknesses she prides herself on keeping hidden away are creeping through in the form of dark shadows. She’s meant to be the perfect picture of an Alpha; strong and fearsome. She hasn’t yet accepted that it isn’t her. She’s the soft, kind Alpha everyone appreciates. If only she wasn’t blind to it. Having wiped her tears from under her eyes, she stands, taking the chains with her. There is something too incredible for words in her eyes every time I meet them. Beyond the sheen of luminous emerald green, there is a sense of compassion, of understanding that I will never be able to reach. That she would never

~Faye I haven’t seen T in two days. There’s been no point until now. For the living quarters he had requested, I had chosen a room far from mine, on the other end of the estate. It’s a lovely place upstairs that gives him a view over the forest. It’s my silent protest to him that he will never return there, to freedom. At least not without some kind of consequence for everything that he has done. Even if I’m not exactly sure what he has done. Terrorize me to no end can begin it all. Despite hating his guts, I knock on the door for decency. Then I proceed to unlock it, reminding myself of the
