Lina hugged Eon’s wolf back as it dashed around in the forest, leaving a hurricane of dry leaves and twigs behind. Eon insisted on doing this every day to have her acquainted with nature and the wild. At first, Lina refused to do it because she was still feeling down that she has no urge to shift but when she experienced the thrill of running around while riding Eon’s wolf, it became an everyday routine for them. Their favorite destination was the cliff that offers an unobstructed view of the sunset. When they arrived at the cliff, Galan lay down on his four to let Lina off his back, then she dropped the backpack behind a huge boulder where Galan hid to shift. She likes watching Eon naked but she finds it awkward to see him stark naked as a newborn babe every time he shifts.“Are you done?” She called him as she slowly climbed the boulder. She had been here countless times but she still gets the queasy feeling in her stomach whenever she sat on

Her heart was thundering in her ears as she leaned against the closed door of her bedroom. Her knees were shaking as she strained her ears to listen. After the shattering of some glass, the house went quiet but she didn’t dare go out. This is one of the times that she wished she was linked with Eon and Galan. If she does, she can ask for help, well, she could. But Eon right now is in his wolf form. He can’t and does not carry a freaking mobile phone. If they are asking for help, they howl. And how would she do that when she wasn’t even sure if she has a wolf inside her even though Alpha Aaron and Briare told her that she is.Thinking of Briare now, she wondered if she should reach out to him. As much as she hated Brigette’s bitchiness, they are family and they could offer her an explanation of her birth. She heaved a deep sigh and walked away from the door. She made sure that it was all locked up and she also checked that all the windows were lo

Lina got out of her room, rubbing her eyes, still closed from sleep. She got out because she heard a lot of noises from downstairs and the mouth-watering smell of the bacon reached her room.“Eon?” She called him in a hoarse voice, heavy with sleep as she walked down the stairs. The men who were horsing around the kitchen saw her first. Their jaws dropped. Lina was a sight to behold, wearing a long white flowing dress that reached her ankles, she glided down the stairs with her hair, dancing behind her.“When are you going to finish that?” Eon popped out from the kitchen, holding a spatula and wearing an apron. He was making some pancakes to go with the bacon he was cooking. When Travis and Trent didn’t answer his question, he followed the sight that made the rowdy cousins shut up.“Good morning,” Lina called from the middle of the stairs. His breath hitched when he saw Lina. And his eyes shifted to Travis

“The process is different to everyone.” He gave her a smile, being careful with his words as he doesn’t want to lie to her.“It doesn’t seem painful every time you shift.” Her voice was devoid of any fear and he breathed easy. He knew that Lina had already had a lot on her plate and he didn’t want to add to her worries. With Travis and Trent gone, the house became quiet once again but with bubbling excitement and dread in the air with the new agreement of calling Briare. Lina was the excited one while Eon was full of dread.“Let’s not worry about it right now. Instead, I want you to be ready, contacting Briare.” He had to remind her of the most pressing matter and to make sure that she won’t get disappointed and hurt with her choices.Briare may be able to answer her questions but his presence won’t be an assurance that she would be able to shift, which was what she wanted the most. “Who is us?” Lina asked Briare. Her voice was full of sheer curiosity as she slowly sank on the couch next to Eon.“Us. Our family. Our pack.” Briare answered with no qualms. “Where you belong.”“That’s funny.” She scoffed. “I grew up looking for a family to belong to and now, many years later, you’re telling me I belong to some family? A pack? Are you trying to make me laugh?” The bitterness in her voice cannot be hidden. She had no plan to be emotional with Briare. This talk should be indifferent as much as possible. She had a list of questions to ask and he would just read them and answer. She would listen to them and that’s that. She didn’t look forward to a confrontation of any sort. She wasn’t keen on having another drama just like the one that she had with her mother.“Lina, I know that you don’t like me—”“I never sa
