Chapter 21
Hayley Life has settled into a rhythm for me. Gran is upset that Xander and I have opted to not go on honeymoon immediately but we both agreed that we had a lot of responsibilities to take care of here. I have been spending the majority of my days at the house as I’m on a month’s leave. Things aren’t weird between Xander and I because I hardly see the guy. He leaves early and gets home late. It’s obvious he's avoiding me….not something I anticipated. It was making me depressed to no end and I can’t go complaining to Gran about everything. She’s not well, a fact I haven’t forgotten. She has been giving us space to “get to know” each other so she doesn’t know Xander and I don’t even see each other. I do make a point of at least having lunch with her every day and sometimes she comes for walks on the beach with the girls. Whenever she asks, I tell her things are going well, when honestly I fee

Chapter 22
Xander I feel like a bastard. I've been avoiding Haley since we slept together and I know she doesn’t deserve that. I didn’t plan to. It just happened. I didn’t know how to face her so I was out the house by 5am the next morning and it just kept snowballing after that. I know I have to face her at some point but that night we spent together after the wedding, laughing over takeout with the dogs in the background…it felt too real…and too damn right. This isn’t meant to feel right. I didn’t sign up for a real marriage and I know it’s not Hayley’s fault. She wasn’t trying to be clingy or any of that shit. In fact she was doing her best to give me a way out and that in itself made me angry for her because she deserves so much better than this shit.I actually want to see her. I spend half the fucking night watching her sleep. I have to stop myself from reachin

Chapter 23
Xander  I break every speed limit and road rule I can on my way to her. Huxley Street isn’t the safest street around. It's near the industrial area, which is abandoned this time of night. Hayley and I have both been silent on the phone for the five minutes it takes me to get to her. When she said I was the last person she would call, it hit me hard. I can’t put into words what I want from her, I’m too stuck in my own head about that but I do know it’s not for her to feel like she can’t count on me. That shit ends today. I spot her car on the abandoned stretch of road, all alone in the dark. I want to swear but I know I need to keep my composure… for now. I pull the range up next to her. She sees me and opens the driver's side of her car to meet me before the car even stops. She’s wearing dark blue demin shorts that end mid thigh and a black sleeveless tank top.

Chapter 24
Hayley  When I wake up the next morning, Xander is still asleep next to me. It’s 6am and I need to get ready before Kyle shows up but I can’t help but linger a little and watch Xander sleep. Damn! He’s gorgeous under normal circumstances but shirtless he is a whole other kind of gorgeous. I have a huge grin on my face as I change into my workout gear and leave the room with one last backward glance at my sleeping husband. He was there for me last night when I was feeling pretty low and alone. He made me feel important. Special even. Something I’ve never felt in any relationship before and yes I know we are not in  a “real" relationship but I’m pretty darn grateful for the way he made me feel last night and the fact that he’s still here. Maybe my prayers are being answered after all. Kyle is already in the gym playing with the pups when I enter. He looks up when I walk in and sm

Chapter 25
Xander I leave Haley upstairs and take the stairs two at a time to go back to the gym. That fucker Kyle better be waiting for me.When I enter, Kyle is leaning against the ropes, downing a bottle of water as if nothing happened. As if he didn’t have his filthy paws all over my wife just mere minutes ago. I hop into the ring and go straight for him, raising my arm back and punching him square in the jaw. The water bottle goes flying as I continue to pummel him against the ropes but the bastard doesn’t try to fight back. Just raising his arms in defence to cover his pretty face. That makes me give him a shiner I know will last for days before I step back, “I thought I could fucking trust you" I scream at him. He spits out blood to the side before looking me in the eye and answering, “ What are you talking about Xander? Trust me with what? Haley isn’t even

Chapter 26
Hayley Could this really be happening? How could someone as hot as Xander want me? I thought our wedding night was a fluke and the way he was so obviously jealous of Kyle was cute but I never thought much of it. The way he’s looking at me now though, the way he’s touching me, the things he’s said and done, I can’t deny that he seems to really be into me. Pinch me please! Then again, don’t….I don’t want to wake up. My back is against Xander’s firm body. His arms wrapped around my waist as I stare at our reflection in the glass door of the shower as the hot water pummels down on us. Xander leans over and turns the water off. He reaches outside the shower door and grabs two huge bath towels. He wraps one around me and one around his waist as we step out of the shower together. We haven’t said a word to each other and I know we should. Las

Chapter 27
Hayley Gran called me this morning asking if we could have lunch. Xander and I spent literally the entire weekend together and it finally felt like I was on honeymoon but today he had to go back to the office. Todays my last day of leave and I feel really bad for not spending as much time with Gran as I should of. Between training with Kyle and trying to keep a happy face on when Xander was avoiding me, I hardly got to see Gran or talk to her properly. The chemotherapy has left her tired recently and she rests a lot, which is what the doctor ordered but I still feel bad she can’t come on our daily walks anymore and that I don’t get to see her as much. I asked chef to make gran and I a picnic lunch that we could eat in the sunshine. I’m sure vitamin D will only help Gran feel better. I set up our lunch on one of the many tables in the beautiful garden and go to help Charles bring Gran outside.

Chapter 28
Tasha I can’t believe that Hayley married a billionaire and a drop dead gorgeous one at that too! When she told me she was going on a date I never expected it to turn out like this. She’s married! She doesn’t deserve this, I do! I should be with Xander. I’m so much prettier and I’m more sociable. I would fit in so much better in his world. She didn’t even introduce me to him properly at the wedding but that will change. I will find a way to come between the two of them. Xander will be mine. If it were anyone other than Xander Dominic, I would have let her be, even been happy for her but she doesn’t deserve this. I've had a crush on him for years, every female has. I will make things work in my favour.“I will never get a chance like this again,” I whisper to myself as I dial Keith’s number. “Hello Keith, how are you?

Chapter 29
Xander When I do go into the office, my workday usually ends at around 6 pm. Sometimes much later with the different time zones of our clients, but Hayley’s day starts and finishes much earlier than mine. It's 2.55 pm and I’m parked outside her building waiting for her. At exactly 3.02 pm I see her exit the building with two other females. I recognize them from our wedding. The two women wave to me and a huge smile breaks out on Haley's face as she spots me waiting. She leaves her friends behind and I get out the car as she approaches. Damn is she sexy with her skin tight black jeans and loose top. “Hey babe", I say as I put my arms around her waist and draw her closer. “Not here Xander, they are all watching!” I laugh as I kiss her lightly on those soft lips and help her into the passenger side of the car. I make my way around the

Xander  I find Hayley fast asleep, curled up in bed clutching a wet towel. Her hair is wet and she has changed into a pair of black cotton shorts and a loose grey converse t shirt. She looks exhausted. I pull the bedcovers over her and kiss her forehead. She stirs a bit and opens her eyes slowly. “I fell asleep,” she whispers. “Yeah you look pretty tired, go back to sleep.” “Are your friends still here?” “Yeah, they are downstairs.” “Then I have to come say hi.” “You don’t have to, they will understand that you’re tired.” “I’m already awake and I don’t want to be rude and have them think I’m a snob plus the girls and Sebastian need supper.” Five minutes later we make
