Date with Wolfsbane
Damien was looking at his Beta suspiciously. Him and Ellen had been acting like this mission to get wolfsbane into Andre’s cabin vodka was a fucking date. It had taken her slightly longer to get the scent masking products than normal, due to yearly shutdown of the production to clean out the systems. During this time Ada had given orders to organize the inventory, count everything, arrange chronologically and stack in a new corner of the warehouse. This was a new practice but Ellen wasn’t surprised to see her cousin bring order to anything she touched. She had volunteered to oversee the counting and organizing of boxes and had taken an entire box that consisted of 24 vials. That evening Ellen met Damien and Arsen in Arsen’s office. Since they couldn’t ask Ada to cover for her absence, she had to confide in her other cousin Anie, telling her everything about Arsen and saying she was going to spend the evening with him on a date. Technically it wasn’t a lie. Ellen’s pa

Power of a Little Flower
Damien was looking at his phone sitting in a meeting regarding him choosing a Luna as soon as possible. The powerful families of the clan kept insisting. Modernization of their lifestyles made the wellbeing of the clan members dependent on how they ran businesses, acquired and maintained lands, and made alliances with other clans for resources. However, certain things remained routed in their origins. Having a powerful Luna completing the Alpha and connecting him to the rest of the clan was one of them. Damien knew all this and logically agreed with it too but these meetings were starting to seem like background noise. Neighboring Alphas seemed pathetic trying to sell their beautiful young, sometimes too young, daughters to the scary beast for a piece of power, an alliance to feel safe, or financial stability. He chuckled to himself thinking he was the beast from Beauty and the Beast. Or one of the human kings in Ada’s historical fiction books. He read the message on

Flanna was weaving flower crowns in her indoor garden when she heard the doorbell. She sang her way to the front door and pulled it open to find no one. An unpleasant feeling crept up her throat until she noticed a glass of water sitting on her doorstep. She smiled inwardly knowing it could be from few people in this city. “A message” she thought excitedly. Whether it was good or bad news she was excited to play with trying to unfold the message hidden in the water. She took it inside barely containing her anticipation. As soon as she was sitting down two of her fingers were submerged into the cold liquid, and eyes fluttered shut in pleasure. A scene materialized behind her eyelids. Damien was sitting in an office chair behind a modern large desk stirring water in the same glass she was holding. Arsen sat across from him in a comfortable armchair with a glass of some golden liquid. “Let’s test this. Flanna, we have a deal.” Damien’s voice echoed in her head.

The dinner was relaxed and pleasant. There was an aura of content.“Are you going to Almanac alumni party?” Arsen asked Ada.She made a face and Ellen chuckled.“I am guessing if I don’t, Izolda Mikhailovna will personally drag me there. I am supposed to network with the new graduates and offer internships,” she answered.“Ada networking, huh, that will be something to see,” Ellen laughed. Arsen gave her a questioning look. “She is the most antisocial person I have ever met. She hates small talk. Ah, damnit, I am the only one here not invited. Fine, I will be next year.”Ada thought for a second but decided it was safe to tell this group of people.“Emma will be there. The party is on neutral grounds and any alumni can attend. Izolda will tear anyone apart who tries to discriminate or bully other members.”“We are providing ten guards. Arsen, tell Vahag to send te

WARNING: Sexual Content --------------------------- Ellen made a thoughtful face. “I wonder who is the friend. Maybe Emil. I miss that idiot; he is always busy now. I blame you, Ada.” “Emil?” Arsen asked with not so sweet voice anymore. “Ada’s Beta,” Damien almost growled. Young women exchanged a glance not oblivious to men’s reactions. “And I don’t worry about a jealous friend, I am expecting some scandal once my mate’s identity is public.” Arsen’s cup was filled with love, content, a relocation or moving into a new house, a money bag, and… a coffin. No explanation of the symbol was needed. A close person to Arsen would die in near future. Ellen clutched his hand tightly. When it was Damien’s turn, he pushed his cup towards Ada. She took it half-heartedly. She didn’t want to know his future, didn’t want to be the one telling him things she saw. Was she afraid to find no trace of herself in that cup? Or she didn’t want

Party
Her father was back yet again. She herself had forgotten any recent events between them. It was a lifetime habit that her father’s behavior had trained unintentionally. Her grandparents of course pretended they knew nothing and her grandmother yet again texted her to visit. Ada was leaving work early intending to spend some time with the entire family. She walked into the large house to noises of a happy family. Her brother was excitedly telling a hilarious occurrence him and his friends participated in just last week. She greeted everyone with a node not to interrupt his performance. It was no less than a performance; he standing in the middle of the room, articulating with not just hands but arms and speaking in a loud voice accompanied with loud laughter. It was something about them getting into the large ballroom of Almanac Academy and organizing a fighting club, which was not uncommon for young wolves and wasn’t frowned upon if no serious harm came out of it. However, d

Favor
Ada was standing by the tree line of the North Forest listening to her heart beating like a war drum. Deep strong hits that echoed through every nerve ending in her body, tensing every muscle. Sound of tires made her heart jump and she tried to take deep breaths as soon as a tall muscular silhouette clothed in all black started approaching her with steady almost lazy steps. Damien was surprised to receive Ada’s message asking to meet him that night a few hours before dawn by her house. He didn’t expect her scent to lead to the forest either. She was standing just out of the thickness of the woods naked, half of her hair falling in front of her shoulders covering her teardrop heavy breasts. Spine straight, leg muscles relaxed and neutral face. Only her eyes seemed larger than usual and he could hear the thunder of her heartbeat. He wanted that woman, but she had something to tell him. “Take off your clothes and follow me. Don’t shift,” she whispered and the night bree

Sharing Feelings
It had been four days since the strange ritual she had dragged Damien into. Neither had felt any difference and by the second day she felt embarrassed and was glad he didn’t visit her. Every evening a message came from him claiming to have something else holding him. Ada sat in her outdated office among faded walls and felt annoyed. A powerful annoyance that she attributed to the failed mending of the bond, to the fact that she felt not ready for the Alpha challenge, to Arthur being more and more irritating, and everything else in the world. She had already glared at Emil who had tried to cheer her up half an hour ago. That foul mood seemed a bit too intense for her current situation. Afterall nothing was new and the ritual failing wasn’t as much of a shock. Then a thought appeared. After some hesitation she picked up her phone and looked at it. They had always messaged before but hearing his voice would give her a better idea. She pressed on Damien’s name and waited

Alpha Heir
First was the sense of smell. She could smell the house with smells of her grandparents, remnants of her father’s cigarettes which never really left, her brother and his friend. The last two were normal and common smells for their house but they were too prominent now, those two boys had been in the house recently or were still there. Next, she could hear. No sounds came, nothing about family members moving around the house. Her body became aware of sitting on a chair with hands tied behind her. Wolfsbane was being filtered out of her bloodstream, she could already feel her organs working overtime to get the poison out. Her body was trained to do it. No shifting would be possible for some time though, and Damien wouldn’t have a connection to her either. Her head was hung low and she didn’t want to raise it and open her eyes. She already knew what she saw would break the last ties she had to this family. That last thought that kept her motivated and gave her a

A Lost Friend
Elders had made a permanent camp by Damien’s office. The conference room smelled of wolves and mixed aromas of a week of delivered lunches. They were getting on his nerves. As if files with pictures and background information on all those empty princesses wasn’t enough, over the last week some of them had been invited to tour the company, to interview for job or internship openings, have lunch with their family members who were among elders… Anything to get him see and communicate with them.He wasn’t sure if it was the mended bond with Ada to blame or the fact that he didn’t want to be forced into this marriage, but none of the women carried any attraction. He would act his part of being a host, carry a conversation and politely escort them out as soon as he could. Janet, the loyal secretary she was, had scheduled more than five meetings a day to give him the excuse of being preoccupied. Seeing the elders setting up residence in their building
