Faith Or Fate
DEVON               I'd just returned home from school and had just placed my backpack on the floor when Theo entered my room through the window. I was starting to get used to this habit of his.  "Hey" I said and kissed him. "How was it?" Theo asked, his hand resting on my waist. "It wasn't bad" I shrugged. He smiled but I noticed that he was tense. Too tense for comfort. "Theo, spit it out" I urged. "You really know me that well, don't you?" he said. "I know that you're tense and something's bothering you" I said, releasing my hair from it's ponytail. "Taerus is attacking by sunset" he said and I gasped. "What? That's in a few hours. Theo, what're we going to do?" I asked. "Be strong" he said. I was terrified. I had a feeling that something bad was going to happen.  "Hey, look at me. Don't think negatively" he said, cuppin

Meeting The Devil
DEVON               I bolted upright on my bed, covering my face with my hands as hot tears rolled down my cheeks. I'd dreamt of loosing Theo again. It's been three years since he died but I still haven't gotten over him. It feels like he died just yesterday and each time I close my eyes, I see him fade away. He'd been so pale and cold. We didn't even get to give him a befitting burial. As it is, fairies who die in the human world usually fade away and that's exactly what happened. I stopped having the nightmares two years after he'd passed away. Now, I just had the nightmare again. It makes it harder to move on. I got out of bed and picked up a framed photo on my nightstand. It was the photo I'd taken with Theo three years back in Paris. I looked up at the calendar in my room. My heart sank when I realized that this was the same day I'd lost my soulmate three years ago. Despite the fact that I've met up with several therapists, I still

Like Moth To Flames
SHEA          The air was rather cold and humid as I made my way towards my apartment. Exhaling slowly, I inserted my key into the keyhole and twisted it twice, the resounding click echoing through my apartment as the door creaked open. I walked in, shutting the door behind me. I took off my coat and hung it on the coat rack. Absent-mindedly, I walked into my room, rubbing my tired eyes. My exhaustion seeped deep into my bones even as I made myself comfortable on my bed and closed my eyes, wincing when the dull throbbing in my head spiked up. My mind drifted and I started to think about the blue eyed girl. Her name was Devon. She was beautiful just like in my dreams. A certain thought came to me and I found myself feeling confused. If Devon was the girl in my dreams and she was real....it meant that Theo could be real. That brought me back to the dream I had earlier. Theo had died and I was starting to wonder if I had anythin

Beware, A Green Eyed Man
DEVON         Why on Earth was he asking me that? How the hell does he know about Theodore. Someone must've told him, but who? Maybe, Liam? Besides, Liam only knows that my exboyfriend's name was Theodore. He'd heard me calling his name whenever I had nightmares. I bit my lower lip, debating on whether I could tell him or not. So, I went with the latter. I slowly typed in a reply and hit 'send'. 'No, I don't. Why are you asking?'   His reply came shortly.  'Forget it. It's not important'   I shrugged and turned to focus on the TV. He didn't send anymore messages. Later, Liam drove by to pick me up. I was wearing a fitted blue dress that ended above my knee and black heels that complimented my dress. "You look beautiful" Liam said giving me a kiss.I smiled and got into his car.Liam, my boyfriend for over six months was a handsome hunk. He had brown hair that was a shad

Hurts Like Hell
DEVON              I left the house shortly after the video chat I'd done with Melvin had ended. I had run out of groceries so I started to drive to the grocery store. Melvin's words kept replaying themselves over and over again in my head. He was definitely talking about Shea. Why was it so important that I don't lie to him? I parked the car outside the grocery store and got out of the car.On my way to the entrance of the grocery store, I bumped into someone, my purse falling to the ground."I'm sorry, I wasn't looking" I froze when I heard the familiar smooth voice.Speaking of the devil, here he comes. I looked up to take the purse he was holding out. I took it from him, avoiding his eyes. Shea looked just as handsome as always in a black t-shirt that was tight in all the right places, and a pair of black skinny jeans. His hair was messy in a I-just-rolled-out-of-bed way. If you ask me, he looked hot. Oh Crap, I didn't just think about

Better Or Worse
SHEA                   I moved backwards, my knees buckling underneath me. They were threatening to give out and send me crashing to the ground. I needed to get away from her. "I-I have to go," I said. Her gaze softened. "It's fine. But, at least can I have your number? I can give you mine too" I stared at her for a beat, then I sighed and took out my phone. After we'd exchanged contacts, I drove off. ***     Monday and Tuesday went by in a blur. I'd resumed in Liam's company as his P. A. He wasn't really bad, he was just a little bit too demanding. My headaches had worsened by the time it was Wednesday.   After meeting Rachel, I found myself thinking about her a lot. I felt like I knew her but it was hard to figure it out. Devon on the other hand, was ignoring my text messages. She wouldn't even pick my calls. She was clearly avoiding me. Was I that big of a pro

Déjà-vu
SHEA          "How are you here right now?" I asked, staring at her. She grinned. "Will you at least let me in first, stranger?" she said. My chest tightened.  I was having a hard time figuring out why I was feeling a strong sense of déjà-vu as soon as she called me 'Stranger'?"Sorry about that. You can come in" I said, moving aside. She walked in, looking around my apartment with a smile on her beautiful face. "Nice apartment you got here, Shea" she said. "Thanks" I said, shutting the door. She sat down on the couch and crossed her legs. "Comfy couch too, that's nice" she said. I blinked. "I'm glad you like it" I said. "Do you need anything? Water? Wine? Soda?" "Water will do just fine, thanks."  "Wait, are you really Devon Bradley? Or am I talking to a clone?" I asked, raising a brow. Her eyes lit up with amusement. "Of course, it's me. Why are you ask

DEVON                  Two weeks had passed since Shea discovered Theo's photo in my sitting room. I felt so bad for everything I'd put him through. What I didn't understand was how he knew about my brothers. If he wasn't Theo, then who was he? Why had he been dreaming about Theo and I?  'Theo is dead, stupid. He's gone and never coming back. Don't you think that Shea might've been sent into your life to destroy you? What if all this is a trap? You watched him die and you know deep down inside you that Theo is gone. Stop assuming things' my subconscious reprimanded me.  I decided that it was better to avoid him. All he did was put my mind in turmoil. Okay, not just that. He made me feel things I shouldn't be feeling. I had a boyfriend for goodness sake.   I was sitting in front of my mirror, debating on whether I would go with the nude lip gloss or the red lipstick. Liam was ha

It's Not Halloween Yet
DEVON             I was lying in bed trying to process what had happened an hour ago between Shea and I. I couldn't fight the grin that was permanently etched on my face. I was way too excited. I got out of bed and got ready for the day. After having my breakfast, I drove to school. "Now, this is getting really weird, Dev. Did you win a lottery?" Karla said to me after our third lecture for the day. "Don't be ridiculous. I'm just... happy" I shrugged. She wriggled her brows. "There's something you're not telling me" I rolled my eyes. "Did you confirm if Shea is Theo?" My eyes widened. "Aha! Gotcha! So, he is Theo" I smiled, tucking a stray strand of hair behind my ear. "Why doesn't he know who you are?" She asked. "He has amnesia" I said. "Oh...poor thing. I guess Liam is really unlucky. Your man is back. So, he needs to find someone else" Karla said. I'd totally forgot

Friends With Benefits?
DEVON          "He's a lucky young man. If his attacker had held on to his throat for two minutes longer, he would've died" Dr Sid said to me just outside the ward where Shea was. I shivered when I thought of him dying in the alley. "He'll be fine, right?" I asked. "Yes, he'll be fine" I nodded. "He has no family. Can I go in to see him?" I asked. "Of course. He might be totally out of it. Two of his ribs are broken, he has a concussion and a head trauma" I stepped into the ward, the heart monitor beeping steadily. I sat down by his bedside and took his free hand in mine. There was a bandage around his head and IV lines were connected to the back of his palm. His eyes were closed, long dark lashes resting atop the skin beneath his eyes. I noticed the moles on his neck and the one on the corner of his lips. How could I have missed that? It couldn't be a coincidence that his moles were in the same po
