Chapter 31: Stay With Me Tonight
Rowan didn't know what to say. He had behaved like an ass, and he knew it, but his pride didn't permit him to say this out loud. Part of him thought that he was STILL being an ass, not trusting Adria with this... issue he had with Luke. But he was angry, and he wasn't known for being a rational man when incensed. "Nothing..." he muttered, stepping out of the car and heading towards the door. When he reached it, he realized he hadn't even let Adria out. Turning, he saw that she had simply exited the car through the driver's seat. The wounded look on her face threatened to make him get down on his knees and beg for her forgiveness."Rowan?""You shouldn't be walking," he said, approaching her. She placed a hand on his chest, stopping him from picking her up again."I can tell there's something you don't like about Luke. Is it anything I need to know?" That was the problem. He didn't really have anything against Luke, other than the fact that he had basically grown up under his shad

Chapter 32: I Always Finish What I Start
"I mean, a little longer?" Adria quickly added, realizing Rowan could misinterpret what she meant. "I'd love to stay with you," Rowan said, smiling at her. "For as long as you want." "Until I fall asleep, then?" "Sure." Adria went to the bathroom to get ready for bed and came out to find Rowan on the side of the bed she didn't use. She almost gulped at the sight of him without his shirt on.He was casually looking at his phone as if this was completely normal. Was he daring her to not... do anything? But then again, she hadn't thought of him when she changed clothes. The pajamas Luna Marie were short, barely covering her rear, and the top was a thin thing that clung to her skin. His eyes drifted toward Adria, who still stood by the bathroom door. She quickly looked away, setting her clothes on the dresser. "Your fan doesn't work," Rowan said as an explanation. "I'll have them come check it tomorrow.""Oh, I hadn't noticed." Adria went towards the bed and got in on the other side

Chapter 33: I'm Not Done With You
"The date was just an excuse to get to know you better," Rowan whispered into Adria's ear. "I don't see the problem in starting now..." Rowan slowly lifted Adria and placed her on him as he scooted back towards the headboard. "Oh..." Adria felt Rowan's hardness beneath her. "So what do you want to know, Alpha Rowan?" she teasingly said. "So many things..." His voice was sensuous, and the feeling of his lips so close to her ear made Adria shudder. "But we can start with how you want me to take you." "How are you thinking of taking me?" Adria said teasingly. She began to plant kisses on his neck and chin, moving up to his mouth. "How about my mouth takes you again?" Rowan's hands began to caress her buttcheeks, spreading them apart as he rocked his hips up and down, teasing her. "As much as I loved that," Rowan said between heavy breaths. "I want you to feel the same pleasure... So tell me, Adriana. Do you want me on top of you? Below you? Behind..." An electrifying current tr

Chapter 34: Mr. Romance
It was late at night when Rowan finally fell asleep. His mind was a mess of regret and guilt, which he would have been able to assuage if he could move. But he didn't want to risk waking up Adria, and besides, it felt so good to have her close. At one point, she had snuggled towards him in her sleep, and he wouldn't dare move her. When he woke up at the crack of dawn, he tried his best to slide his arm without disturbing her. She barely stirred and cuddled up in a fetal position, her slow breaths hinting that he had succeeded. How had he been so stupid? There were a million ways he could have reacted when he realized that she wasn't under birth control. Hell, he should have known she'd be completely unaware of these things, considering the Turnbulls barely let her speak or do anything other than slave away as Rhonda's slave. But no, he had to go and ruin the moment. And he had to admit that he was hurt at Adria's reaction, too. She had looked terrified at the prospect of being pre

Chapter 35: The Skank Alpha Rowan Rescued
Adria heard Rowan leave the room early in the morning, but she couldn't bring herself to fully wake up until a few hours later. It was very strange for her not to get up and start working around the house, which was what she had done every single day in the Turnbulls'. When she had showered and gone downstairs to eat breakfast, Cora was waiting for her."Adria!" Cora jumped up to greet her. "I'm sorry I didn't check in with you first, but I didn't know how to contact you.""Hi!" Adria tried to match her infectious smile, but her heart was still heavy with what happened with Rowan yesterday. "How are you, Cora? What brings you around?" It felt even weirder to have a visitor in a house that wasn't even hers. "It's my day off, and I was wondering if you wanted to go to the hairdresser with me." Cora's smile widened. "Not that you need to! You look amazing. But I always go alone, and I think it would be a good activity to get to know each other better. If you want to, of course." The

Chapter 36: I Was Hoping You'd Say That
Cora wasn't lying when she said Luke's food was delicious. In about half an hour, he had conjured up a stew with chicken and peas and potatoes that tasted unlike anything Adria had ever eaten. By the time they were done, she was having a hard time stopping herself from belching. But the food wasn't the best part of lunch. It was definitely the company. Adria had never laughed so hard in her entire life. She felt so at ease with Cora and Luke that she inevitably felt a bit saddened that she had spent so much time away from them. How different would her life have been if she had had the opportunity to grow up surrounded by her friends? "I have to go back to the clinic," Luke said as they cleaned up the table. "Do you want to come with me?" He was looking at Adria, but it took her a few seconds to realize it was her he was speaking to."To give you your lab results," he said in a lower voice, though Cora was far from earshot. "Oh. Yeah, sure," Adria said, still feeling a pang of gu

Chapter 37: Anything, So Long As I'm Close To You
"We should go," Luke said, heading down the hallway without waiting for Adria. She was frozen in place, unsure of what to do. The truth was she didn't owe him an explanation about what had just happened. But it seemed to have somehow formed a wedge between them, one that entirely changed his attitude towards her. Luke entered his office and called the head doctor without even glancing in Adria's direction. "I have Adriana here if you want to bring over her results. Ok. Yes, I'll tell her. Ok." He hung up and finally turned towards Adria, who had been standing in the doorway with the brown paper bag still in hand. "She's going to take at least half an hour if you want to wait." Serious. Cold. All business-like. "Luke..." Adriana entered his office and closed the door. "Is everything all right?" He paused and let out a long sigh. "I was going to ask you the same thing..." "Why wouldn't I be all right?" Adria knew the two were skirting around the subject, but no one was voluntee

Chapter 38: I Am Done
Rowan saw Adria pull away from Luke and felt something shattering inside him. What had they been doing? Why was he so close to her? Lucien hadn't been lying when he said he fucked up. He had also been right about there being something fishy with Luke and Adria.Usually, his beta wasn't so forthcoming with his mistakes. This time, despite being furious with him, Rowan was also thankful that he had contacted him through the mind link the second he had left the hospital. "Are we interrupting something?" Rowan was barely able to conceal the rage that was threatening to burst out of him. His muscles had tensed up, and he was unconsciously clenching and unclenching his fist."You are, actually. But you're always welcome here, Alpha Rowan." Luke took a step forward. "To what do I owe the pleasure of this... visit?" Again that slightly mocking tone of his when he said the word Alpha. Lucien stepped in front of Rowan, blocking his way to where Luke stood next to Adria. "I need to speak to

Chapter 39: Come Stay With Me
Adria wiped the tears off her face as Luke and Lucien entered the office. "What happened?" Lucien said, his eyes darting back and forth between Adria and the door. "Are you Okay?" "Yes," Adria said. "I'm fine." "I... should go," Lucien said, turning. "Let me know if you need anything." With that, he ran out and disappeared behind the doorway. Luke closed the door and eyed Adria sadly. He briefly looked at the box of pills and pouch in her hands, but then looked away just as quickly. "You know, we don't have to talk to the Head Doctor right now. Do you want to go home?" The mention of the word home made a sob almost escape Adria's throat. She had no home anymore. What had even happened just now? Did they break up? Were they really ever a formal couple that could even break up? "I'm not going to be staying at his house anymore," Adria said in a quavering voice. "What?! He kicked you out?" Luke cried out. "He's-" "No," Adria cut him off. "I... told him I didn't want to stay

Chapter 40: If You Get Married...
Adria left the hospital feeling devastated, and the gloomy weather outside reflected her pain. A steady, strong rain fell on her as she hurried towards Rowan's house. She was pretty sure he hadn't gone there, and she dreaded the conversation she was going to have with Luna Marie, but the truth was, she didn't have any other clothes than the ones he had gotten her. She was terrified that Luna Marie would think she was ungrateful for leaving like this all of a sudden, but she was sure this was what she wanted to do. No matter how much love she felt for Rowan, they needed to figure out a lot of things before they continued their relationship. Or ended it. She shook off the cold and devastating feeling that idea brought her. What had he meant when he said he was done? Was it really just going to end like this? Luke had stayed behind at the hospital because there was a patient he needed to see, and thankfully, he hadn't even noticed the rain. Or else, she was sure he wasn't going to
