“I’m the only one who came back, Andra. I honestly don’t know where she is right now.” His tone was steady, but there was something beneath it. Something raw, something that sounded dangerously close to anger. I knew it was not directed at me, but that did not make it any easier to understand.“How could you not know? Weren’t you the ones who left together? Do you even realize the mess you both caused?” I demanded, leaning forward slightly, my frustration rising. “I know,” he said quickly, cutting through my words. His voice dropped, quieter now but heavier. “And we are so sorry. Especially to you. I know we caused you a lot of trouble.”He took a deep breath, as if trying to steady himself, and looked away. His eyes lost focus, fixed on something I could not see. It was at that moment that I noticed it clearly.
