Kaylee's P.O.V. "How long do you think I need to stay locked in here?" I asked as Scarlett smacked her hand of cards down on the table and shouted 'Gin'. She had won every round so far. It wasn't because I was distracted. It was because I genuinely sucked at the game, but besides watching television, we didn't have much else to do. At times, it reminded me of being back in the facility. I would start to feel the panic of being caged in like an animal until my captures were ready to feed from me. Then, whoever was on babysitting duty for the day would bring me back to reality. "I have no clue," She said as I gathered the cards and began to shuffle. "If you need to get some air, you should ask Parker to go for a walk with you." "I'm not sure he wants the extra stress of me being exposed." I shrugged before dealing the cards. Scarlett tried not to react when she looked at her hand, but the small twitch in the corner of her mouth before she schooled her features to let me know that I

Parker's P.O.V. Keeping Kaylee locked up in our room while I worked, was horrendous. Every day, I could feel her internal struggle to remain calm while she also felt like she was being imprisoned again. I tried my best to encourage her to be positive, but it was difficult fighting the demons and scars in her mind. She was strong and put on a good front, but she was still healing mentally from everything that she had gone through over the past four years. That wasn't something that would just go away after only a few weeks of freedom. Being locked up again was a huge setback in her recovery. In an attempt to keep her safe, I had been unintentionally hurting her, and she had been silently suffering because she didn't want to stress me out. It was selfish of me, but I had been taking advantage of the fact that she wasn't fighting me on this. I needed to keep her safe, and this was the only way I knew how to do that. Tensions were still h

Kaylee's P.O.V. This was it. I could feel the change in the air, telling me something terrible was about to happen as Parker left the room. I glanced over my shoulder as discretely as I could to see his back for a second before he rounded the corner to leave the packhouse and was gone. Hudson wasted no time closing the metal door and sliding the lock in place before turning back to me. "Do you need a hand getting over the dresser?" I turned away from him, shaking my head as the lump in my throat prevented me from speaking. Parker was out there right now running toward a battle that I still didn't understand and felt wasn't necessary. Meanwhile, I was stuck here hiding. It was pathetic. I wanted to be able to help him, but I knew the only way I could, would be if I listened to him and kept myself safe so he wouldn't have to worry about me. I glanced over the top of the long oak dresser and could see a small space between the bathtub and the piece of furniture. The tiny room seemed m

Parker's P.O.V. 'They're retreating,' Scarlett informed me, and I growled under my breath when I realized that I still wasn't able to hear the regular communication in the pack link, only conversations directed to me. 'You shouldn't have been able to do that.' I ignored the suspicion in her tone as the male glared up at me. He was roughly the same size as me, which was still vastly larger than most other wolves, but he was no threat. I knew if it came down to it, I could take him in a fight easily. He was running off emotion, not strategy, and that was dangerous enough to get even the strongest wolf killed. When he was killed, I wanted to be the one to do it. I nodded to the four wolves holding his chains, gesturing with my head for them to have him follow me. I knew Scarlett would move in behind him to ensure he was completely surrounded. I tried to reign in my fury, knowing the man behind me was one of the few who

Parker's P.O.V. The pack was silent as they took in the information. I was stunned myself. Kaylee was the daughter of the Blood Moon Alpha. It explained everything… how she could partially shift, why I became stronger after mating with her, and why I could smell wolf on her. She was a half-breed between her father being a wolf and her mother being an oracle. But it was more than that. She had Alpha blood. When she shifted, she would be one of the strongest she-wolves in the world. It was no wonder why my wolf didn't want to listen to Gabriel. Kaylee was my Alpha, and as she was my mate, we were equals. We would listen and be controlled by no one. "I take it by your stunned silence that I just blew your mind. That's okay. I have that effect on people. Now, get these damn chains off me and take me to my sister." He snapped at Gabriel, who looked equally as taken aback by the revelation. Gabriel's eyes flickered over to me, and I

Kaylee's P.O.V. I didn't want to believe it, but the serious look on Parker's face let me know that it wasn't a joke at all. Only a few buildings away, there was a man claiming to be my brother. Claiming that my missing mother was waiting for me with my birth father, who had remained unknown to me until now, to be released from captivity that I wasn't even in. Or at least, I wasn't until they had declared war on our pack. "So, they don't want to kill me or use me? They just want me to be sent to live with them? They stared a war for that?!" I clarified with my eyebrows pushed together. Parker nodded, the burn mark on his face visibly pulling as he opened his mouth to speak, but he didn't react to the injury. "From the conversation they had with Jack, they thought you went from being held prisoner by the vampires, to being held by us. They didn't know you were here of your own free will or that you had mated with me." I glanced down at his chest as he held me up with my legs around

Kaylee's P.O.V. I kept my eyes on Parker's face as I held my arm out to him, leaning back against the bookcase closest to the door. I knew that if I looked down at the needle, I would lose my nerve. His touch was soft, gentle. I barely felt the small piece of metal as he slid it into my inner elbow. I knew it was there though and that was enough to send my mind running. The haziness had just started to lessen, but the pinch of my skin breaking had it all coming back. I was waiting for them to pull out another set of chains. Silver bands that would hold me down to the chair, the same as they had done to my alleged brother. "You're doing great," Parker whispered as he continued to work. His gaze stayed down, but I kept my stare on his beautiful brown eyes. He was a welcome distraction, the only one that I had ever found to effectively ground me. "How do you know how to do this?" I asked back quietly, not wanting t

Kaylee's P.O.V. Gabriel was stern as he ordered everyone in the room with a phone to begin dialing any contact they had in the Blood Moon pack. He was insistent that we needed to speak with the Alpha, my father, as soon as possible. A few people moved to the conference room across the hall, but Parker, Gabriel, and I remained in the office with Oliver. I watched him shift, his chains rattling as he pulled at them with irritation. His head tilted to the side, and the burn marks under the collar stood out in a bright red. "Alpha Gabriel, can we at least take the chains off? He just proved that he was willing to cooperate and was telling the truth." "He proved that he is not privy to the actions and decisions of his Alpha and Luna, not that he is not a threat to our pack." Gabriel glared at Oliver, and I bit my lip as Oliver stretched his neck again, showing off the fresh burn. "As long as he is under constant supervision and the silver is still in his system, the chains can be remov

I didn't realize what I was doing until it happened. My fist pulled back before launching forward and connecting with his face. His eyes widened in surprise as his nose crunched, and he fell back into the seat of his chair. "Alright, that's enough," Gabriel ordered before gesturing to the other seat for me to sit down. He didn't need to order or command me. I was shocked by my own actions and the fact that I was able to knock a grown man on his ass and sat down willingly. "Wait until this silver and wolf's bane is out of my system and try that again, I dare you." Oliver threatened nasally as he held his nose closed and tilted his head back. "Watch it, pup!" Parker snarled at Oliver's threat before moving to stand behind our two chairs. "I said, that's enough!" Gabriel growled, rising to his feet and placing his hands flat on his desk as he leaned forward threateningly. "One more word out of any of you, and all three of you will be in the dungeons for the rest of the night." I pur

Parker's P.O.V. I rolled over, staring at Kaylee as she tried to fall asleep. She was exhausted on the walk home, but I knew the guilt of her newfound brother being stuck in the dungeons for the night didn't sit well with her and would keep her up. No one had been able to reach her father or anyone from the Blood Moon Pack. Oliver was to remain in our custody until contact could be made. If there was no news by morning, Oliver would be sent back to his pack in an attempt to put a stop to the war. We just had to pray to the Goddess that Oliver was telling the truth. It would help that Malcolm would be done with the blood test soon. His lab wasn't as high-tech as most, but he had what he needed and wouldn't have to take the time to mail it off like humans always had to. Kaylee looked so stressed, her body was still tense, and she kept shifting, trying to find a way to get comfortable. She spent a solid twenty minutes inspecting my healed hand and face, wanting to see for herself that
