Chapter 31 – The Arrogant Sexy Ass
LAMIA Mom, Aunt Olivia, and Queen Sarah had booked us all in for a day spa at mid-morning, so we were fresh for the party. Having stylists and make-up artists pamper and prepare us for the ceremony this evening. It was Queen Sarah’s treat. Kira and Tawny; accompanying us, of course. A girl’s day out. I think I was the only one that wasn’t that excited about it. My life was too unpredictable at the moment and the knot in my stomach wasn’t helping. My brain was mulling through all the possible scenarios for this evening. Would I find a mate? Do I even have another mate? Would Kellen find a mate tonight? I wasn’t sure if I could handle him finding his mate this soon. Would either of us get second chance mates, but were we even considered ‘ex-mates’? It was all just too confusing. By the time we had made it to the spa, my parents and aunts knew Kellen and I were not destined. I wonder if that was why my dad had a smug look on his face this morning at breakfast. Of course, Kira was the

Chapter 32 – Zane Noir
LAMIA As much as he was arrogant and annoying, Zane Noir had turned into a God-like creature. The goddess had been kind when handing out looks and anatomy to this man. A shame she couldn’t have given him a better personality. With that, I took a step back and plastered a shit-eating grin on my face, and turned to acknowledge his family before moving on to the other guests. Not without hearing him coldly mutter “Bitch” as I walked away. Oh, yeah, Zane Noir and I would certainly be meeting again before the night was out, that I was sure of. I had ruffled him. And I like it. As the evening went on, we made our way around the room greeting various pack members as well as other guests and Alphas from neighboring packs. A lot of the time, these events are attended by other high-ranking, un-mated members from outside packs and used as a gathering to hopefully find their mates. I eventually made it over to the bar, ordering myself a rum. I sipped the dark liquor, letting the sweet, rich m

Chapter 33 – Something More
LAMIA Zane picked his head up from the pillow and looked down at me; I met his hardened eyes with a scowl on his face, with a hint of hurt. No, I must be mistaken. His dark hair was still plastered to his forehead. “That wasn’t just sex, Lamia, that was the best fuck I have ever had in my life.” He said as a matter of fact. Again, not admitting to him that, yeah, it was out of this world. His fingers were tracing small circles on my back. I was still sprawled across his chest. “So you want to tell me why the little princess didn’t want to run with her pack tonight, on her birthday?” “No.” I didn’t owe him any explanations. He grunted at my short reply. We lay there in comfortable silence, not moving, enjoying the feeling and closeness of each other. All of a sudden, I felt a wave of dizziness hit me, and the urge to throw up. Untangling myself from Zane’s arms, I made to stand up when a sharp pain blasted through my head. “Agghhh!” I cried out in agony as my body started sweati

Chapter 34 – Attack on the Palace
ZANE First, how the hell did they get past the border patrol, and now they were being attacked by were-bears! “Kellen, Mike, you follow Delta Marcus to secure the Southside, Beta Michael and I will assist the east border.” He paused looking me up and down. “Zane, you stay with Lamia. Keep her safe. Do not by any means let her leave your room until you hear from one of us. Got it?” The command was clear, “Yes sir” I bowed. I would tear any fucker if they thought they could get through me to her. I would protect her with my life. “Mike, send Hunji to guard outside Zane’s room, let’s move out.” He paused “Everyone, be safe.” Who the fuck was this Hunji? And why did he need to be placed as a guard? As we all dispersed from the office, Mike and Kellen made it a point to bump my shoulder, a sly and intentional action to say ‘we're not done yet.' Fucking little pricks. I made it back to my room, seeing a well-built Middle Eastern Asiarian man standing by the door, two swords strapped

Chapter 35 – Mate?
KELLEN It was now 4 am in the morning and the effects of the attack and fight had weighed on everyone. We lost a total of 44 pack members. Most of those were warriors and a few omegas. The majority were lost at the eastern border where the bears and rogues attacked, coupled with the were-cats that slunk from the trees like ninjas. Mike, my father, and I were currently sitting in his office waiting for Zane to turn up. I didn’t think it was a good idea for me to be in the same room as him. I breathed in and clenched my fists a few times before I managed to calm myself down. I felt guilty as shit when we all went off for the pack run and left Lamia behind. When we were getting to the end of the run and heading back to the palace, I felt a wave of dizziness, almost rendering me useless as I stumbled. I was about to reach out to Mike when a searing hot pain shot through me and we heard her screams and howls of torment. My mind had raced knowing it was Lamia. Conri, my wolf, cast a glan

Chapter 36 – A Beast
LAMIA I sat there stunned; my mouth hanging open, eyes fixed wide, by the time two guys filled me in on everything that went down. If they weren’t so serious, I would have thought it was a cruel joke they had concocted. Until they told me the number of deaths we suffered and how my father was in critical condition. My heart aches for those families that lost loved ones and sent a silent prayer for those who gave their lives. My first reaction was to go straight to the hospital, or at least go shower and change; by the smell, I assumed I was wearing one of Zane’s shirts right now. Even though I was tall, his shirt engulfed me and hung down mid-thigh. I, immediately, mind-linked my mom, who convinced me to stay where I was, I needed rest and that dad was in a stable state. And then Kellen. *Kellen, oh my god Kellen, are you OK?* *Lamia, baby, I’m here, how are you feeling? Where are you?* His calming voice flowed through my mind, easing the panic that threatened to bubble. *I’m at

Chapter 37 – The Council
UNKNOWN POV “ARRAAAAAGH!” The rogue king's snarl rang out, shaking the already crumbling castle walls. His fury was evident, amber eyes glowing as his body shuddered with outrage. “Bring the fucking Alpha and his little bitch!” He all but screamed. “My lord, their Intel was good, the king’s elite warriors were able to recover and hold us off, even when we penetrated the castle. The Dire Wolf was well guarded, not left alone like we thought she would be.” No one had noticed our presence in the royal palace as I watched the Alpha take down the bear shifter we had sent in, with the aid of Hunji. A wolf I had met once and knew of his skill. His reputation preceded him as a skilled warrior and worldly man. He had been guarding her door. “Do I look like a give a flying fuck? They failed me! I want what’s mine!” claws extending and canines protruding as he bellowed out his wrath. “The Delta's daughter can be brought here, the Alpha may be a little harder, and questions will be asked, my

Chapter 38 – A Fairy Tale
LAMIA We found ourselves on the training field, yet again, I was currently teaching Tawny advanced combat moves. She knew a lot from her dad, but he could only train her so much with his position in the pack and she hadn’t attended pack training because she feared being ridiculed because she was not a wolf. I scoffed at that. Zane hadn’t left my side, even accompanied me to the hospital, and stayed while I visited my dad, who was still unconscious. He looked better though. Zane was leaving to go back to his pack in a week. He had to; as an Alpha, he had a pack to run and had been away long enough. He had left his Beta in charge, but a pack needed its Alpha. I understood. Didn’t mean I had to like it though. His Mom and sister left for home yesterday and I went to say goodbye to them, promising to see them soon. They were more than happy about mine and Zane’s pairing. It was crazy how close Zane and I had become in these short few days, it had barely been but a few days and we were

Chapter 39 – The Betrayal
ZANE After eating in the dining hall, I was more than ready to have my doll all to my fucking self. I didn’t mind socializing, but I preferred to do it with my own pack. Prince prick and I had been getting on alright, much to my distaste. I still didn’t like the goody two-shoe prince, but he put my mate first and she was a top priority of his. I still didn’t like how close the fucker and Lamia are. Knowing they shared a ‘special bond’, whatever the fuck that was, grated on my nerves. Again, though, the little prick was somehow important to my mate, so that meant against my choice, I had to deal with it. Only for her would I deal with it, only for her would I put my differences aside. I kept thinking about the stupid story her kitty friend, Tawny, told us. I had laughed at the fairy tale, not sure how it was relevant to my doll. Yet… There was this niggling feeling in the back of my head and Dacia had paced around like a wandering fucking rabbit in the back of my mind for the rest

Chapter 40 - Daddy
LAMIA It was already the end of the week, and despite how stressful it had been and all the meetings and planning, time flew by. I glanced in the mirror as I threw on a pair of denim shorts and a purple V-neck tee, pulling my hair into a ponytail, my fingers trailed over Zane’s mark. I smiled; it was the image of the tribal black wolf, his personal signature displayed beautifully on my neck. I couldn’t be more proud to wear it. It was decided that I would be going back to the Golden Circle pack with Zane, much to Kellen’s protest. Zane had agreed for 20 elite warriors to accompany us. However, they would be traveling with Hunji and Tawny, who were also ordered to accompany us to Zane’s pack. Zane and I would be traveling by motor-cross bike on a back route through the Blue Moon pack. A precaution just in case the convoy was attacked. I hated putting my friends in harm’s way and using them as a decoy, but we had a mole and if the attack was truly aimed at me, then we needed to weed
