Chapter 21 – The Heist.

The day finally came and all was set, Jeff went over the plans again for what felt like the hundredth time, his voice steady even though he was a little nervous. They had rehearsed it over and over again, changing some things that seemed not to work, and adding new ones until everything ran smoothly like clockwork, on paper, it was perfect. They all geared up and headed out, before leaving, Jeff gave their house one last look, they wouldn’t be returning to this place anymore, he had already gotten rid of every trace of their existence, after this job, they were all going to assume new identities and live completely new lives, maybe he will join the army or maybe he’d chase the spotlight and become an actor just like “K”. They arrived the cassino in separate vehicles, which had been stolen a few weeks earlier. The girls rode in a small black Toyota which was driven by one of the guys, while the rest of the guys followed in a black van, parked several blocks away from the cassino.

Chapter 22 – Aftermath

Elnora and Robbin reached the old house. It was still left exactly the way Robbin left it when she fled years ago. Clothes still remained in the closets, dusty and old. Some had even been eaten by moths and other insects. The beds were still neatly laid, the furniture untouched, the books, tools, the kitchen, all left alone, ghostly, preserved and slowly reclaimed by nature. Months went by, slow and deliberate, Robbin and Elnora had slowly begun to settle into their new home and their new life. They had renovated the old crumbling house in the woods, which had once belonged to her aunt and uncle, transforming it into a fortress with thick concrete walls that rose 10 feet high, crowned with razor wires and secured by an electric gate. Life was quiet and normal again.
