I set on the balcony, a glass of whisky in hand. A pack of cigarettes lay next to the bottle of whisky. I drank the contents in one gulp, grabbed the cigar and lit it. I inserted it into my mouth and pulled the smoke into my mouth. I removed the cigar as the smoke choked me. I coughed hysterically and I poured another glass and gulped it in one go.“ Ivy that is enough” I swivelled my drowsy stare at her. I sighed and inserted the cigar back. I pulled the smoke into my mouth, this time I had acquired the skill. I didn’t choke, I let out the smoke slowly. “ Where is Terry’s mother ?” I drank a gulp of the whisky and felt the burning of my throat, the constriction of my throat as it made its way down there. “ And Lizzy?” I asked her.“ Same," she said as she strolled towards me, her hands curled into small fists. Her hazel eyes bulged with a fury that l didn’t understand. At that moment I realized she was in her element“ Young lady I said to stop drinki

If only I had taken more care when it came to her. “ Move your piece of shit!” I shouted at the street vendor. “ People don’t know how to be cautious,” I commented. The tires of the car screeched on the gravel road as I sped past the hospital. I rushed out of the car after a few minutes and headed towards the reception. “ IVY, where is she? She was brought here a few hours ago_" I looked at the receptionist. I glanced at my hands, they were shaking, sweats dotted on my palms. I would have given her permission to see her daughter. To heck with her and her law degree. She was going to fight to her last blood.I gulped the last glass and made my way to Annabelle‘s room. She was fast asleep. I sighed, the travelling up and down was confusing her life. She needed to settle down. Maybe giving Ivy custody of the child would be better. She would settle down. I touched the bridge of my nose and cursed. “ daddy you said one should not curse__” she stood at the door, a cool in hand. “ Sorry, Princess. Good morning.” I said, motioning her to come to me. She dashed to where I was. She peered at me, her huge eyes boring into mine. “ morning father.” She smiled. “ you came back late yesterday, I waited for you. Yesterday was your birthday and you weren’t here to cut the cake.” She brushed her doll. “ I even baked it for you and even decorated the room downstairs.” My heart broke into million pieces.
